Good Morning, one after..........

MexicanOnABike 05-09-2010 04:30 AM

This post makes both thread equal.

Zooksport2 05-09-2010 05:17 AM

Plus 1 to be sure!

Today was the day TLTE became TLTE....

295 members posted, to help make it happen.

Huh! I posted in that other thread, so now I have the same post number on both threads! and we are equal again.... hehehe

didn't you state sometime ago e were within 4-500 posts, and closing in fast?

I think we can definitely surpass them before the Star Wars anniversay officially kicks off in about a week and a half, and if need be, I can call upon my "unshackled post hand" to help move along at zooming speeds.

What say you? Let's end the chase, and move in for the kill (switch; engage).

Keep yer hand off that warp drive button dear Jetty,
I'm worried about stray unforeseen meteors.

We need you.

Jetée 05-09-2010 09:01 AM

You're right.

I most probably need to find that righteous image I was saving for the occasion (but I'll most probably need to unearth, re-organize, and queue several thousand other images before I even recall which one it was... woe is my efficiency at finding the extraordinary, coupled with my procrastinator-perfectionism, I just freeze. And my mind melts).

Thanks for the updates... I have 4,000+ "favorites" elsewhere (pfm) and I'm now developing close to that many (3,400+) on my rolling endeavor. Oh, and I have nearly 200 (maybe 3?) on dA... and that's not even to mention photodom, photo.net, fotocommunity, photoforum, zenfolio, picasa, 2photo, etoday, or the wunderground (I really need to visit that last one more)... there may be even one caled 35foto, I don't know...

It's a real wonder that I've been with flickr the longest, yet it's still relatively small (I'm just a kipper in the ocean).

ring 05-10-2010 08:56 AM

I sent a PM to the creator of this thread.

I love Kipper Snacks. King Oscar brand, if I remember correctly.

Jetée 05-10-2010 09:00 AM

I think this thread alone convinced me within the first week that maybe the TFP was the place to be. I still try to hold onto that hope, but if it's only a dozen of us, it makes one feel lonely.

On the bright side, it makes us more tight-knit, 'sposin'?

ring 05-10-2010 09:05 AM

It reminds me of 'Special School.'

In a very good eclectic eccentric accepting...fashion.

TLTE, should be published.

Postcrypt:

I have been searching for those 'Party Silhouette' images you originally posted at 8,200.
No luck.

I remember them clearly. Orange and Black & other colours. The fabric looked like Batik.

So, this for now:

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...ette-vecto.jpg

Jetée 05-10-2010 09:35 AM

It wasn't at or around post 8,200 ... but I don't know. I'm guessing it either had to do with a significant number (e.g. 10,000) or beecause we overtook a thread (What are you listening to right now?)

In my opinion, of the 5 dozen threads I now inhabitate daily, two of them are the hardest for me to rev up my engine to, just because they involve those "creative intangibles"..

#1. Snapshot a Song - I don't know too many songs, and with my busy life, I just have time to listen to podcasts, and maybe an hour of TV every few days... also, I don't know where else to locate "quality" images other than flickr... or to spend half of the week searching on some Russian site for something I'm not sure that I'm looking for. It's a hard business thinking of a lyric, making it stick in your mind, imagining a world behind it, and then trying to either locate it on the web, or re-create it yourself.
Patience (keyword).

#2. A topic I have yet to create, but have many (unwritten) rules to abide by and, it's all too crazy, and modern (that sounds eerily familiar). Anyway, tentative title to it is "Modern Life is Rubbish", and it may be the single hardest endeavor I've sought to think up.

... alright, I might have three topics. The "Cartoons" thread is pretty hard to maintain as well, if only because I keep getting tripped up over what I can and can't embed, and then every few weeks, some of my shares just disappear in the blink of an eye. (Where the hell am I going to find another Fantasia?)... it's all too hard trying to appease myself.

'Cause you know that is all that I'm doing. No one (but a tiny handful) make a stray comment as to what I'm contributing towards is something worthwhile, so I easily forget about it. I don't want that to be the case. I'm working towards a greater identity of archival goodness, a repository, a treasure trove, of illustrious offerings.

I need to get to wandering about...

Jetée 05-10-2010 09:42 AM

and something that readily pertains, but I accidentally came across while trying to locate those disappearing silhouettes; this:
(/ my coincidence monster is on the good vibes for now)

'meow' is so passe.
(I haven't heard a cat meow since before 2004. I have heard one sound like a wailing ghost, every single night... Feed the damn cat!)

ring 05-10-2010 09:58 AM

I remember that image.
I saw it shortly after I joined TFP, on 'All Hallow's Eve.'

Siamese cats can verily meow, with many added syllables.

Up and down the register they caterwaul.

Jetée 05-10-2010 10:02 AM

it's a darn shame that this page will once again be another memory in the annals of our history (don't snicker!)

by the way, I came across and found the page in which 10,000 was achieved, and it had a clue as to where to find the silhouettes... #8,000. Then I backtracked a cool and easy 50 pages, saw the page, inputted the flickr image urls... and, turns out the author set them to private (can't even find out who she, or he, was)... another shame.

This is your wayback ticket.

The Rivers of Babylon - The Melodians
Johnny Too Bad - The Slickers
Pressure Drop - The Maytals

You have gone and forced me to recognize one of peeves (not a 'peeve', but a "preferred method of perfectionism in which I've instilled")
When citing an artist and their particular song, the "preferred" method of doing so is thus(ly?):

* Aceyalone - I Think I Know Too Much (italicized song track not needed, but basic formula is identification of the 'artist - song title', then the track)

However, there is another method to my madness that I prefer using when citing a particular classical piece, which is:

* Die Fledermaus, by Johann Strauss II (with the more recognized musical piece drawing fore, than the composer attribution following)

basically, I mean to state: I would have just written the artist's before their tracks, with a dash in-between, or eliminate the dash, and replace it with a , by.

This is by no means a 'call to arms', but just something I've noticed a small minority of people do, and I think it weird (if not entirely wrong).
Don't feel bad, though; my Realplayer (now endorsed and distributed by Google!) has the same little glitch in displaying 'artist -song'... it does it your way, backwardly.

I've also come up with a new rule (plus a bonus): my life now comes in sets of three.

Everything in three (is that called 'spades'?). Ah, it's 3 o'clock now in NYC.

PS
I know this will never catch on, but if only for the select minority here, if a .GIF animation is big enough (~400kb +) I will enclose it inside the [hide] tags to ease page load time.

That blue ball image,(yes it was moving) reminds me of a child-hood game:

Mousetrap. My siblings & I never 'played' the game. (Did anyone?)
We would just set it up to set it in motion.

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...etrapGame2.jpg

Jetée 05-10-2010 11:42 AM

I played it once; it didn't work.

And I always used to forget the name of the contraption it was modeled after, until one day, I told myself to stamp it into my vocabularium: The Rube Goldberg Machine

(I've not actually seen this video before... but I did here news about its controvery. Controvery condensed: OKGo makes video. Band wants it to be seen. solution: Youtube. Problem arises: band's label disabled youtube embedding. OKGo went insane (I think)... they found some solution to the problem (I forgot what it was).)

PS
click play on the video and tell me if it prompts you to jump over to YT instead, to watch it. Maybe there was no solution. 12million+ views!
