Health and Safety at work, bloody rock dust gets everywhere when I'm cutting core samples.
Here's hoping it's not literally bloody rock dust!
Nope, just regular rock dust, but some of the core has asbestos in it, so the respirator is a help in that respect, just get tired of wearing it all day....
The father of a friend recently died of asbestosis. It was a gruesome way to go. Respirators are very good things!
Yeah they are a great thing, and Inco is very safe, so we're well protected against the rock dust......
Lucky you. If OSHA came to investigate, they wouldn't like what they'd see...
We actually had a safety audit at the shop last week....we came out spotless, so that was nice......can't wait until I get to go underground though......
...sounds like spying, or a womb.
Haha, naw I mean actually under the ground, down in the mines, hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll start doing that, now that my underground orientation is done......
I've always admired miners, but mining scares me. Good luck underground when you get there.
I'm not a miner...I'm an Exploration Assistant with Inco, there's a technical name for us, geophysical technician or something like that, I'm not too sure if that's it or not, but exploration assistant is easier to remember.
Way cool, so you'll be going underground to...drill more? In that enclosed space you'll need more respirators!
We go underground to do gyros on holes that are drilled, laser collars, all kinds of weird things. We just have to have our respirators with us, just in case anything happens, so hopefully I won't need it down there.
If the earth collapses on top of you, you usually die. (Sorry for saying that?)
Yeah but I can die crossing the road, so I don't think about what could happen ,I just know it's a possibility.
Allowing us to manage, what we know.
I may or may not be high right now......
Sounds like an interesting job there jay
i went to rubonia once...
...dunno where that is, sir! Numerous caves, no mines. I could drive to Soudan, but it's supposed to be -40 in Ely tomorrow or the next day - I don't wanna do there.
it's -32 here with the wind chill, it was about -41 or so last night, fuckin wee bit chilly....
Wee bit chilly, where'd laughing out loud go?
...you must be well- insulated... If you're 7++km north of Winnipeg, you're wtf north. -Don't freeze to death, sir. |
Hot chocolate, gotta love it.
s'posed to get down to a high of +60f here sunday...brrrr...
-44 with the wind here, it's a might bit nipply out.....
A bit nipply?
Funny how that happens, isn't it? Below zero here tonight.
Nice avatars Sharon and OCM, good to see you can finally express yourselves through them......
Yes Sharon nipply, it's a fancy word isn't it? |
And a fancy feeling...
Yes a very fancy feeling when they may be able to cut diamonds hahaah
Edit: -48 with the wind at the moment, I just came in from a smoke and I am high and chilly...... |
wow -48 its cold here and snowing like a bitch, got maybe 1-2 feet now ;D
The powers-that-be almost cancelled the St. Paul Winter Carnival's Torchlight Parade for tonight. Due to the public's outcry, they only made it shorter... ...at least cold climates have the benefit of freezing unhealthy microbes? And that which does not kill us makes us stronger.
Mmm nipply!
...do women sometimes get erections out of fear like men do?
This woman can get erections out of pretty much anything...
But hey why do you think women like horror films? |
I think I read something about that...
I haven't cared much for horror films since they started to scare me. ... |
/me loved the original texas chainsaw massacre...
It was better than the new one, even if the special effects were not so good.
