Not my pets, strictly speaking. This is a picture mum took of the new litter of pups. There's ten of them, an ungodly number, and if all goes well every last one of them will end up as somebody's pet.
Onesnowyowl likened them to mole rats, which I suppose isn't so far off. Anyone looking to buy a bullmastiff within the next 8-10 weeks? |

Just a quick update on the pups. They're a month old now and the phone's already ringing off the hook for them.
This is three of the six girls. There's also four boys, making ten altogether. It's amazing that there were that many and that they've all survived. EDIT - I paid all that money to go back to school and I still can't bloody count. Clearly there are four pups in this picture, not three, meaning this is the boys and not the girls. |
so i picked up the new pup yesterday.....

Haven't been posting much, too busy moving in to our new house, but I thought I'd pop in today since my sweet girl proudly presented us with four beautiful, healthy, fat boy pups Monday afternoon. The pictures I have are horrid, from my cell, but I thought I'd share them anyway... As soon as I have some good pix I'll post those. To remind y'all, since the puppies look like guinea pigs right now and not dogs, I have dachshunds. The proud mama is a black and tan short haired double dapple and the papa is a solid black short haired. All the puppies are black and white dappled... Two are black and tan like mama, and the other two are black and white.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...babodyshot.jpg This is the puppy we're planning on keeping. He's black and white and dark gray full body dappled. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...ids/Puppy2.jpg This one is black and tan and white. He and the next puppy look a LOT alike, though the black in this one's coat doesn't seem to have any gray dapple. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...ids/Puppy3.jpg This one is black and tan and white, and I can see some gray dappling in his coat, but I'm not sure if it will come out more visibly or not. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...ids/Puppy4.jpg This little guy is solid black except for the white around his neck and the big white patch on his head. He looks the most like a guinea pig right now. :p |
Well, I picked up the sister of Flyman's puppy this afternoon. My kids and I haven't picked a name yet, so she's called pup for now. The red dot on her forehead is lipstick so we could tell her apart from the others in the litter.

Here's my most recent JRT. We rescued him about a year ago. He was found as a stray, and taken in by a rescue organization the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. He came with the name "Mikey", but since I already have a JRT, I call this dog "Dudder". (As in "the-other")
|
oh fly and splck those are the sweetest puppies ever.. I kinda like the name Bindi.. it's cute... :)
and fhq, what a cute pup as well... all the puppy cuteness in here makes me go... awwwwwwwwwwwww |

This is Gus's 15 seconds of fame, because his "last" vet appointment is tomorrow. He has been the worst dog, temperment wise that we have ever owned. At over 13 years old, he just can't manage any longer. I think we gave him a good life.
Gus, looking reasonably sane: |

This is Rottie, the best dog we have ever owned. He showed up on our property one day and refused to leave. I hope he has many years left, because he is such of cuddle puppy.

funny I never thought of rottweilers as cute before... rottie's a handsome fella and very cute.. :D |
Thanks, Ms. M. I have bored you with my doggie tales (tails?) for (four?) years. I know how hard it is for you to say a kind word about a Rottie, and for good reason. He truly is "Carl, the good dog." :)

Hi!!! So good to be able to comment here again.
Due to my own stupidity, I was locked out for a while, but thanks to a little help from my friend, Paddyjoe & the kindness of the TFP gods I'm baaaaaaack darlings! As always all your furry & feathered babies are fun & fabulous. |
Nice shot bernadette!
most recent shot of my doggie Zeke. It's a bit of a glam shot I guess, but I like it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/Shpoop/beg2.jpg Elphaba, I guess Zeke has a pretty similar story to rottie. My cat just died, and 4 weeks later this guy showed up and wouldn't go away (he was only a month old and starving at the time). Friendliest, most well tempermented dog I've ever met. |
This is Punkin:http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...unkinsBday.jpg
And this is Sabrina: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...dayCropped.jpg They're my cuddle-buddies, and I love them very much. They both come when called, and snuggle you at night, and wait for you by the door when you come home... Sabrina isn't so fond of strangers, but LOVES us, and Punkin is a slut who will cuddle with anyone who picks him up. :D Oh, yeah, and yep, those are birthday hats. Because what isn't funny about a cat in a hat?? Kitties need birthday love too! Don't they? No? Hello? EDIT: Oh. My. God. The cat on a treadmill made me giggle incessantly, and I cannot handle all the cuteness of the puppies! Gods I love pets. They are so damned CUTE! |

shpoop, That's a wonderful photo of Zeke. I LOVE the eyes.
Just_Jess, Lady_Sage, shoegirl & everyone else with lovely kitties, you make me miss having a cat or two around (my last was euthanized a yr ago), but I always enjoy seeing your pretty felines & how much you love them. Ch'i, There's no place on earth my two love more that the beach -- it's like dog Disneyland! Jack probably had a great time, huh? I have a ton of photos of my dogs, but still not enough quite yet. ;) I'm slowly learning a new camera, so they are handy models. bernadette, your pictures are fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Here's Molly at 3 months. She's a little shit still, but the training is going good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ly-3months.jpg |
Thanks, Ch'i & splck. I appreciate the kind words.
I've learned from some other dog photographers (on flickr) to get down on the ground to get some of the best dog shots, especially the action ones. I will be getting down more real soon. splck, Molly is a total doll!! 3 months old, eh... if she wasn't a "little shit", then there'd be something wrong with her. ;) |
Hey bernadette. I'm curious as to what kind of camera you use? I've always had trouble shooting my dog while he's moving; they end up blury more often than not.
|
Quote:
a little shit? for fuck sakes bern....when she stays here for a few days,it's a hell of alot more than a little shit........ ......and he still hasn't paid my kids for cleaning up the shit either. ....(damn cheap dutchmen) :D |
LOL @ flyman You love it, you silly goose, I know it. :D
Ch'i, a few months ago I bought a Canon EOS 20D. I set it on 'Action' mode for the moving dog shots -- 5 frames per second! weeeeeeeeeeee!!!! :) My old camera was IMPOSSIBLE (or darn near) to get any good action shots of the dogs cuz it had a 3.5 second delay, which was painfully frustrating to say the least. And... I still get some motion blur now & again. I don't mind it too much in this one though. |
that's a great freakin shot bernie............
*must lay on ground more often* |
|
How did you get Shadow and Mailee to sit so perfectly still? and lined up one behind the other? Great picture. Pretty babies.
|
treats in the pocket man............treats in the pocket.
sit. stay. treat. it's that easy...........'cept for the pup....still much to learn. |
Quote:
Maybe Mailee's treats should be a little smaller eh? |
That's an awesome shot, fly! And I like the blurring on Bernadette's pups. :)

he's finaly calmed down a bit. http://p357.isdaman.com/random_images/minmin.jpg |
Fly, there's something very artistic about that shot. I can't quite place it...
I know it has something to do with the positioning, and the way Mailee is looking off to the side. ....I dunno Edit: Aha! I've got it. The postitioning and expression of the dogs add an emotional value to the shot. Good job. |
wow. New address! but I found ya. :)

Bern, this last pic cracked me up in that I saw some political satire in two dogs pissing on a "bush." :D
The detail you brought out with using B&W is astounding. I have to ask, are you a professional photographer? You certainly could be. |
Elphaba, I totally LOVE your political satire. Good one!
And thanks! Nope. Not pro by a long shot. Just beginning to learn about photography beyond the point & shoot; however, it is rapidly becoming a serious hobby. :) |
