CHEST AND BACK ONLY ONCE/WEEK?????

Is it bad if you do chest and back 2 times a week but in separation of 3 dayz?...so for example the schedule would look like this

1. chest triceps shoulders
2. back biceps legs
3. --------------
4. chest triceps shoulders
5. back biceps legs
weekend OFF
stick Abs 2 times/week somewhere between those dayz

or is it better to do all muscles just once per week? Like this?

1. chest triceps
2. --------------
3. back biceps
4. ------------
5. shoulders legs
weekend OFF
stick Abs 2 times/week somewhere between those dayz

Are the muscles overworked if they are worked out 2 times per week?

THANKS EVERYONE?

Only work them once a week. If you train them twice a week you will not necessarily overtrain them but you'll be much more likely to overtrain them. And since you are a beginner (though I think this really applies to everyone) you should definitely only work each muscle group once a week. You seem like a beginner who is so eager to get started and to get huge fast that you'd probably work out everyday if someone told you that would help, but don't let that eagerness lead to overtraining. You just need to stick to a basic workout and see where that takes you, if in a few months you think something needs to be adjusted then you can do it but for right now just stick with the basic setup. And if you're arms aren't the size of girders after one month that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong, it will take time to develop muscle, plenty of time and effort and hard work.

Shred explained that perfectly. I would not directly train the same muscle group in the same week, although I do give my arms their own day (3 to 4 days after chest / back day).

Here's my routine:

Mon: Biceps / Triceps
Tues: Shoulders / Traps / Abs
Wed: Legs
Thurs: Abs / Cardio
Fri: Chest / Back
Sat: Cardio
Sun: Rest day

This is a great plan for me... Gets me in and out of the gym within an hour every time.

A good guideline:
Large muscles (chest, back, legs) do once a week
Smaller muscles can be done twice a week.

And since the smaller muscles are usually being worked and usually the first ones to give when working out the large muscles, it is only necessary to work them on their own once a week.

Anybody Else

Anyone alse thinks that smaller muscles (biceps/triceps/abs) should be done twice a week...CHEST/BACK is obvious that it has to be done AT MOST 1 times per week

Grobar: I do everything once a week.

abs/shoulders
chest/triceps
back/biceps
legs

obviously, my hamstrings are going to get hit on my back day (deadlifts), and my shoulders are going to get hit on my chest day, my abs are going to get hit on both my back and leg day (deadlifts+squats)...etc...
but its nothing major so your body can deal with it.

True - they are smaller muscles, hence they recover quicker meaning you could dedicate biceps twice a week.

heavy back work is an effective bi workout...so i would not dedicate two days for bi's.

If you want to work out more than what you are doing now (a body part once/week), try to add in some good cardio on your off days. Plus, always remember that rest does a body god. It needs tme to rebuild those muscles you ripped to shreds!

I do everything only once a week, as i'm on max ot since 2 1/2 months, one of it's principles is working a muscle only once a week. I've made very good progress (i'm a beginner) i packed 10 pounds of muscle and reduced my Fat % from 23 to 16. You should try it, it's free: http://www.ast-ss.com/max-ot/max-ot_intro.asp

All good suggestions. I found that not sticking a strict routine week in and week out is best. Try a workout for a month or so and then mix it up. Most guys don't think about this but classes are great!! I attend Gold's Gym and they have classes there that work your muscles in different ways such as Body Pump which is an hour long class using free weights and works from head to toe and RPM, which is a biking class for 45 minutes that works legs, abs and serious cardio. I have found that the classes give my muscles a wake up call and help to give me well rounded fitness. Oh I almost forgot to mention the 30 minute Ab blaster class!! It is great for you midsection twice a weekk!!
