I am hoping someone can help me because Bliz's customer service in this matter has been terrible!!! (shocking, I know). I logged in today to find none of my channels working. I can't see what I type, I can't see what other people are saying to me and the only channel I get is World Defense. How do I turn this channel off and get back my normal channels: general, guild, etc. Any help (ANY!!!!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, I was one of those people who criticized WoW players for being crack addicts... was. A friend of mine here got me a guest pass, and I got started Saturday. I cracked out like a som' bitch and two hobizzles. I got started at 9PM and quit at 9AM. Then I slept for three hours and away I went. My lvl 13 Nightelf Rogue is pretty nice. I'm in Drunken Superheroes with a few friends from my Uni. and Mercer Uni.
It's awesome to finally find a game that my school's network admins (I live in a dorm) haven't decided to neuter. They killed BF1942, UT2k4, and RtCW (amongst others, I'm sure) and bandwidth in general (also blocked most P2P somehow). They did so for several reasons. One being that people on the network had loads of viruses and crashed the network, even though their use policy states you MUST have an AV program and they offer you Norton for free. Second is that people felt it necessary to hook their personal servers up to the network and host online games. And last but not least, the P2P. There was a case where a student in 50 days managed to use a whopping 39 terabytes of bandwidth. Between folding@home, SETI, DC++, and Ares, he racked up some serious bandwidth. He ended up burning most of the stuff he got off DC++ to DVDs, but had several 100 DVD spindles in his room filled with movies, games, music, etc.

I'm a member of the Ladies of WoW community on LiveJournal, and I have to say I've noticed that most of the women on there started playing because their SO started playing. I started because my best guy friend was freaking addicted as hell. Now we're both junkies.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I guess.

So I've put my account on hold for now. Generally just bored, all my friends left so I mostly solo and that does get boring real quick. Going to give it a bit and wait for battlegrounds to come out and reactivate then. I still really like the game but the lack time I have to play does not allow me to do any instances or large scale raids. We'll see when BG goes live.

The Lich King was still Archimonde's bitch. He had to follow is orders because he was stuck in an icecube. As a side plot, he was hoping that while going along with everything, he could find an opportunity to assert his own power and break free from Archimonde's pimpery. Enter Arthas, chaos ensues, Burning Legion gets owned, Lich King is freed from popcicle status, long live the Scourge in Northrend, etc etc.

I don't know if it would be viable with the story or not, but they should have made Arthas split off with the forsaken and lead them. I don't like sylvannas (I think her name is) the banshee queen. Its like they just made her up for the sake of having the forsaken. Weaksauce.

Arthas already is the head of the Scourge... it wouldn't make any sense for him to lead the Forsaken because they broke off from him. Although like it or not, I agree that Sylvannas was basically just a plot device to make SOME undead "independant" and thus a playable race for WoW while there could still be an ominous "bad" UD power under Arthas that will presumably play into the storyline sometime down the road or in an expansion. |

Wahoo!!! I have the materials to construct an Arcanite Reaper now. I'm torn between selling the materials for a hefty profit (probably close to 1000g) or getting the weapon made. I'll probably end up getting it made because it's the coolest looking weapon in the game and is the best warrior weapon bar-none. My warrior is 56 and my priest is 48.

I'm pretty much addicted to WoW.
I've started 5-6 different toons before settling on just 3 and I don't really concentrate on any one of them enough. I have a 38 rogue, 30 priest and a 15 hunter. It's interesting that each one is like playing a whole new game. Missions I did with the rogue require (obviously) a completely different strategy when I run them with the priest, almost making it an entirely new gaming experience. With my beta play time and the time I've played since I purchased it (i held off a few weeks due to being jobless and figuring I better get a job before i start playing WoW) I've put more playtime into WoW than anything since Empire in the 70s. Crazy. I have some health issues and one day a few weeks ago at work I knew I had to go to the ER pretty quickly...but I logged in and checked my auctions before I left. Like I said, I'm pretty much addicted to WoW. Gatal - 38 NE Rogue - Bleeding Hollow Edwina - 30 Dwarf Priest - BH Kanati - 15 Dwarf Hunter - BH

Though his powers were drained by the Lich King's weakness, Arthas had been involved in a civil war in Lordaeron. Half of the standing undead forces, led by the banshee Sylvanas Windrunner, staged a coup for control over the undead empire. Arthas, called by the Lich King, was forced to leave the Scourge in the hands of his lieutenant, Kel'Thuzad, as the war escalated throughout the Plaguelands. Ultimately, Sylvanas and her rebel undead (known as the Forsaken) claimed the ruined capital city of Lordaeron as their own. Constructing their own bastion beneath the wrecked city, the Forsaken vowed to defeat the Scourge and drive Kel'Thuzad and his minions from the land. " Outside of World of Warcraft the Forsaken were just like the Scourge, but somehow Sylvannas' undead aren't really undead (according to Blizzard) they're "Forsaken".Even though they are undead. Sylvannas made sense, the new race of "Forsaken" does not. They simply altered the universe to fit their game setting. In regards to Dalaran, the bubble may be to protect the area while the wizards rebuild it.Or it could be that Archimonde released something with the destruction of the city(you level the home of the greatest mages of the world, something is going to happen) like a creature, or possibly some kind of arcana that is harmful to the environment outside. |

It seems to me Blizzard really needs to hire some English majors to develop their backstories...(pick me! pick me!)
Every time I stop to read one of the books lying around I think, "Man, they need to get some real writers on this project." Personally, I'd love to read some books set in Azeroth.

I find the economy in this game humorous.
For example, herbs at the AH and cost of stacks of potions. Wild Steelbloom goes for about 4.5g a stack. Goldthorn goes for about the same... so that's 9g. Both of these are used in Greater Defense potions, so you can make 20 pots (4 stacks of 5) for 9g. Guess how much the stacks of pots sell for? 2g. Sooo, that's a 1g loss. Superior Healing pots are the same way, except it's about 11g for the ingredients (7g for 20 sungrass, 4-5g for Khadgar's Wisker) and (at 2g for a stack of 5), a 4-5g loss. Crazy... I mean, alchemy probably isn't THE moneymaker as opposed to herbalism, but it's still strange how prices are set. Granted, you can get healing/mana pots as drops, but I have NEVER received a defense/agility or other pot for a drop, so it's not like there is a common alternate source for them.

Just hit 40 with my NE Druid. I think I am gonna slow down now. This game has been a fucking leech on me. I'm supposed to be done tomorrow on a project I've been working on for 2 weeks. I haven't written a line of code.
Just a word of warning to anyone who would rather telecommute than go in to the office... I've been living that way for a while and it really aint all that satisfying.

Well my best in-game friend and his wife switched servers on me to go join his old guild from another game. It definitely sucks bigtime. However as a parting gift he left me an epic item to sell, a blue item to sell, a couple of traveller packs, and gave me a bunch of cash. So now at lvl 23 I have my mount in the bank, and 100 G leftover on me after upgrading a bunch of stuff. It's nice to have my mount already taken care of, and have all this cash on me. But I would definitely give it up to have my buddy back. Now I just have to lvl like mad so I can actually use my mount!

I good way to lvl up is just go quest crazy and killing lvl beast that are the same lvl as you are, if your a hunter that is easier to do. And solo the quests only if they are yellow, green or gray. |

Ooo. Yes, I've read all the actual books, not the manga(s) so I'm not sure about those, but I LOVED all of the books, especially The Well of Eternity and The Demon Soul, loved em, they're both significantly longer than any of they others, and they have a great plot, great characters, and in my opinion, great writing. I HIGHLY recommend all of these for anyone who enjoys the Warcraft lore.

Not to switch the topic or anything, but I'm interested in knowing what all servers you guys play on.
I'm on Sargeras and play as Hunley, a lvl 25 NE Rogue. I'm currently a member of Drunken Superheroes, but the guild has been falling to pieces after about 20 lvl 60s up and left. I switched with them because they were my rl friends and joined Imperial Order, but the grass wasn't greener on the other side for this noob.

Gehenna, 32 Orc Warlock
Far, 38 Undead Warrior Both on Lightning's Blade. I have a 43 undead rogue on Bleeding Hollow still, but I have my issues with that, so I haven't played him in about 3 months.

Anyone playing WoW on Lightning's Blade?
I got sucked in to play a bit as kind of a time waster when my friends aren't playing CoH. Its not that bad, not something I would normally play, but a day into it and its still ok. I have a level 16 druid on Alliance under the name "Gyre" if anyone wants to give me a shout.

I play on Lightning's Blade, but the only way I could give you a shout is if it was after I killed you. I play Far, undead warrior level 38.
On a side note...why do so many of you play alliance? I don't get it...I'm a hordie fo' life!
