Nina nodded in compliance with the elf and the thief. Although she wasn't sure how helpful her power would be in picking off the rear of the opposing group, she would aid in whatever way she could.

"Since the scouting group came from the mountains ans into the forest, I guess the main group is still making its way out of the first leg. Large numbers require a nice valley to walk through, so we could hit the high ground and rain a few boulders on their heads to take out the rear guard and block their retreat. Then, it'll only be a matter of waiting to see what they do, but seeing as we're dealing with orcs, I'm sure whatever they do will be obvious and straightforward.
Nina and Matt can use their power to dislodge a few rock to create a rock slide of some kind, while Vanelee and I take out the survivors at a range. Anyone sent to investigate can also be taken out the same way until the orcs change their strategy. Well, I guess that's the plan, unless someone else knows of another way we could do this?" As he spoke, Dreggan gathered his equipment and retrieved all his needles, ready to move out.

"Ohhhh! Ohhhh! Rock slides I can do!"
Matt ran into the mountains, staying along the high road so that the orcs wouldn't see him when he happened upon them. Along the way he discovered a scout. By the time the scout saw Matt, he was unconscious. Not much further down he found the orcs. Not even looking to see if his friends had kept up, he began focusing his chi. With a loud yell, he let it all out on to the cliff face, catching the orcs in a narrow passage. The orcs wouldn't have much time to get out of the way, but Matt's power alone could not make a huge enough avalanche to get more than a quarter of their forces. He began looking around for Nina, seeing if she was contributing her power to the cause as well. |

"Matt!" Vanelee called after the monk as he darted away, following Dreggan's proposed plan.
Turning to the others, the elf spoke. "Dreggan, your plan was great, but the whole point was to confuse the enemy as a unit and have the element of surprise. I don't know how well we can surprise the orcs considering Matt's actions now. Let's say we catch up to him, FAST!" |

Nina darted effortlessly from tree to tree, fading in and out of substance, combining her agility with her telekinetic capabilities. She caught up with Matt quickly and added her own power to his.
(OOC: eh. i don't feel up to this right now. Nina will do something cool in a little bit.)

Cursing under his breath at Matt constant lack of impulse control, Dreggan didn't even pause to answer Vanelee as he took to the trees after the monk. Nina was keeping up with him and Vanelee wasn't far behind. When the forest turned into mountains, the thief stayed low to the rocks and darted from boulder to boulder.
Finally, he arrived at the area where Matt had already started his attack. He saw the horde panic as the rocks came down and flattened about 5 of them, but the passage to the rear wasn't completely covered yet. Unfortunately, Matt's scream alerted them to the fact that this catastrophe wasn't natural, and a few orcs began to make their way up the hill towards Matt. On the ground, Dreggan saw the meanest looking orcs he ever layed eyes upon. Among them was one that stood 2 feet taller than his counterparts. He wore a dull coloured plate armour, lined with crooked spikes, and waved a large scimitar above his head, rallying his troops. He only let a few make their way up the hill, which hinted at a more strategic mind than the thief had expected. Landing next to Nina, Dreggan spoke quickly: "Nina, you should probably cause a slide from the other side, this time aiming for the front of the horde. This will create a pocket of some sort in the valley with only two narrow passages at either end. Vanelee and I will man each one and take out those that attempt to flee. Meanwhile, you can take out the bulk of them in the pocket with area-effect spells, if you have any. See ya." Seeing Vanelee not to far away, Dreggan went to him and told him the plan. Soon after, he positioned himself at the area of collapsed rocks, courtesy of Matt, to deal with the less courageous orcs that would attempt to leave early. Placing himself on a high boulder, he took out a few needles and waited.

Nina lunged into the air after hearing Dreggan's words, disappeared, and reappeared on the other side of the valley.
With her back pressed against the trunk of a tree, the young mage whispered silently to the rocks above the frontline of the orcs. The earth trembled and the rocks fell at her command, blocking the orc's path and dispatching a few of the front scouts. Surprised and pleased by the ease with which she had transported the rocks, Nina hopped into the branches of a tree and watched the mild chaos she had created. Smiling mischievously, she began to think up spells to get rid of the orcs, who were now trapped like rats in a maze.

since Dreggan and Matt had already positioned themselves on one side of the canyon, Vanelee decided he would join the young mage on the other. Doing so, he took his position behind an outcropping of rocks and readied and arrow.
The elf had known that Nina was powerful, and that this journey would undoubtedly make her powers grow. However, her power was growing exponentially. Even Vanelee, who knows the true power of elf blood, could not have fathomed she would have this power. 'Glad shes's on my....our...side.' the elf thought with a smile. |

Nina glanced over her shoulder at Vanelee and winked deviously. She felt a burst of confidence and power surge through her now that the elf was near by.
She fixed her gaze on Dreggan and Matt across the valley, waiting for a signal to unleash her magic on the orc army.

"Yay! Fight time!"
As the orcs made their way up to Matt, he made a large sweeping motion with his arm. The chi blast shot out at the feet of the orcs, easily knocking them over as they clumsily ran up the hill in those bulky suits of armor. Matt began shooting towards them, still in his fighting stance, hovering just inches above the ground. He jumped, and brought his knee down on one of their chests, easiliy taking him out of the fight. Still hovering, he brought his foot upside the head of one of the others who was starting to get up. He then took his staff, and in a spinning motion, hit one of the others in the head and came back to the one he had just kicked, who had shot up in the air, and kicked him again, this time in the chest, sending him unconscious back into the valley. He had left one unaccounted for who was about to attack him from behind. Suddenly he had a needle in his neck and was out of the fight. Matt shouted back to Dreggan, who was in the valley behind the rocks, "I could have handled him you know!" Dreggan responded, "Sure you could have!" Matt made his way over to the thief to ask him what the next move was. |

He then waited for the inevitable onslaught that would follow.

After Dreggan gave the go-ahead, Nina jumped down from the tree and prepared to attack.
Fixing her eyes on the confused orcs, Nina held out her arms, palms upward. Electricity appeared coiled around her arms, then crackled from her palms, creating an arch between her hands. The bands of lightning flowed from her fingertips and reflected in her eyes. Then, bringing her palms together, Nina released the electricity and its snakish form darted through the air, bursting onto the ground at the feet of the first orcs. A ball of fire flew upwards from where it had landed, engulfing the orcs in front and setting the valley ablaze.

Dreggan watched with great satisfaction as Nina went to work. The elf was becoming more and more powerful... which was good for them. Seeing Matt's confused face, the thief explained.
"I just gave our friends the go ahead to attack. Nina will use her magic to take out as many orcs as possible, after which Vanelee and I can take out a few from a distance. I you wish to attack, wait until Nina is finished and strike at the orcs on the fringe of the group, closest to us, so that she can have a clear path to attack again." As he explained himself to Matt, Dreggan saw a pair of orcs making for the narrow passage left by the rocks sent down earlier by the monk. Jumping down, he landed a kick to the first orc's head, stunning him, then took out his sais to parry the other's sword. Locking the weapon in his sais' forks, he threw three rapid kicks to his face, breaking his nose and sending him to the ground. Meanwhile, the other orc had regained his senses and swung a heavy war hammer at the thief. Dreggan barely had time to parry it, and was knocked down by the force of the blow. Rolling to his side, he stood back up and was now about ten feet away from the pair. He threw a needle to the standing orc's knee, just below the armour joint, which brought him down briefly. As he was standing back up, he barely had time to see the thief jump on his shoulders, landing on them on his knees. With a quick twist of his powerful legs, Dreggan snapped the orc's neck and put him down for good. Falling with his opponent, he hit the ground rolling and headed for the orc with the broken face, in order to finish him off.

Seeing Dreggan's signal, Vanelee stood and took aim at a rather large orc who was advancing towards his position. The elf launched the arrow, which flew with great velocity and struck the orc square in the chest, removing him from his own feet to the ground.
Looking over the trapped orcs and replacing the launched arrow, Vanelee looked for his next target. Since the orcs were caught in the canyon, the group was handling their enemies with ease. The elf spotted his next target. An enormous orc, who bore spiked armor and was leading the orcs. Vaneleee smiled as he aimed and released his arrow at the orc. 'Seeya!' he thought. However, the arrow never reached the orc, it was caught midair by the fiend. The orc looked up at the elf and began moving towards him as he snapped the captured arrow in his hand. 'O my god!' Vanelee thought to himself. |

Still clearly shocked at the orc's capture of hsi arrow, Vanelee turned to face Matt and shook his head with a disbelieving look on his face.
'Are you kidding me?' Vanelee thought. 'He caught my arrow...an ORC caught my arrow. First a magi-orc and now an arrowcatcher. What next, one that shoots fire out of his ass?' Shaking off these new worries, Vanelee drew another arrow and readied it for flight as he watched the alpha-orc stalk his way through the piles of dead orcs that were scattered over the valley's floor. Dreggan and Nina had just finished off the rest of the orc army and stood on either side of the canyon, watching this new battle unfold. |

The ginormous orc was now closing in on the two warriors, and Vanelee again began to have worrisome thoughts. 'Can we defeat this beast? Can my powers help?' he thought.
But these thoughts passed out of his head as qucikly as they had entered, for a warmth had suddenly come over Vanelee, and his worries were put to rest. The elf stood straighter now to meet the orc, and had a face showing the utmost confidence. He stood resolute and ready, a sensual voice echoing in his ear. 'You'll be fine. You have to be. You're strong.' 'Thankyou' Vanelee mouthed as he took his gaze off the orc for a brief second to look over at his mage. |

"GO!"
Matt launched an impressive chi blast at the brute, but he managed to block most of it with his forearms. Before he could bring his gaurd down, Matt was behind him landing a kick in the back of his neck. The orc looked as though it were in pain for a brief moment, then brought his scimitar at Matt in a spinning motion. Matt dodged the blow, screaming "Ha!" The orc continued his momentum and brought his other arm around, catching Matt across the whole side of his body with the huge hand, sending him careening into the side of the canyon, burying his body into the rock wall a few feet. |

Of the 20ish tough orcs that had entered the valley, only their leader remained. The rest were defeated so quickly and efficiently that Dreggan almost felt proud of himself and his comrades. However, this last one would prove difficult. Even the (almost) perpetually cool Vanelee seemed distraught.
"Shit. This one may actually make us break a sweat." Repositioning himself on the side of the valley directly across from the rest of the group, Dreggan readied a few needles, ready to throw them at potential weak points while the orc warlord was distracted. It would be hard, though. His spiked armour covered most of his body, even traditional weak spots in the back. Even though the whole thing looked unbeliveably heavy, its owner moved with grace and speed. The chieftain easily shrugged off Matt's blows and was making his way resolutely towards the rogue and mage. Thinking of ways to bring him down, Dreggan watched the others closely.

Nina watched, somewhat terrified, as the orc warrior approached.
Then, recovering herself, she teleported to Vanelee's side and, leaning into him, started to question what his plan was. Before a word could escape her lips, she had already formulated a plan of her own. "Vanelee, I cannot defeat this thing with my magic alone, but if I encase your arrows with a spell to strengthen them and you aim correctly, we may be able to weaken him significantly."

Still looking over from the other side of the valley/canyon, Dreggan knew that disarming the brute was a good thing, since the power behind each of his blows would only make a sword slash much more deadly.
Matt was out of action for know and the couple seemed to be in planning stage. But the orc was still advancing. The thief had to act quickly. Crouching down, he concentrated and gathered his strength for a brief moment and leapt across the expanse separating him from the overlord. Somehow sensing his approach, the orc spun around deftly and swung his scimitar at Dreggan, who barely had time to dodge. He felt the wind generated by the swing graze his head and thankful for his training, managed to roll to the side and take out his sais. The warlord was already on him with another blow, which the thief dodge easily this time, as the sword dug deep into the rock. Leaping towards his opponent, Dreggan tried to plant one of his sais into the orcs wrist, which would make him unable to handle his sword. The blow landed in a weak spot in the joint connecting the armour's forearm guard from the hand guard and the orc let out a roar of pain. However, as Dreggan was rolling away with a satisfied grin on his face, he saw with horror as the warlord, leaving the sai in his wrist, simply retrieved his sword and switched it to his left hand, which seemed just as dextrous as the right. Dreggan's smile faded, to be replaced by a glare of anger. The warlord smiled in turn and charged again. With only on sai left, DReggan switched to his needles. Leaping away from the attack, he threw a few needles blindly, which impanted themselves harmlessly in the orc's armour.

A couple of his needles managed to connect with the warlord's neck and face, but he was still going strong, despite the blood smearing his vision. Impressed, yet worried, the thief looked anxiously at Vanelee.

As Dreggan was saying this the orc brought a blindingly fast strike down on him. Dreggan had no time to dodge, but the blow stopped before it ever hit him. Matt stood between Dreggan and the orc, holding the blade off with his staff, one end in each hand.
"I finished my nap." Matt gave Dreggan a large grin, but it was short lived. The overlord put his injured hand behind his good one and pushed the sword down with all his strength. Matt redirected the force to his side and the blade crashed into the ground. Matt and Dreggan jumped back, giving themselves some distance. "I think we can take him. What do you say?" Dreggan was relieved to see Matt up again and moreso for his help just then. With a smirk, he turned to his friend. "You hit him high, I'll hit him low." With that, the thief jumped but flew low to the ground. Narrowly dodging the orc's scimitar once again, he planted his last sai in his foot, which pierced both armour and fles, then dug in the rock underneath. The warlord growled and backhanded Dreggan with his right hand, which still had a sai imbedded in the wrist. The thief caught the hit in the chest, which winded him, slashed his collarbone and sent him down. Quickly getting back up, Dreggan let out a scream of frustration and threw 3 needles. The orc parried two but one found it's way to his face. More blood flowed, but nothing seemed to stop this brute.

As Nina finished her spell, Vanelee immediately took action, drawing one of his last three arrows from his quiver and mounting it on his bow. Taking aim and firing quickly, Vanelee and Nina watched as the arrows arched through the sky striking the orc in the middle of his chest plate.
Since the orc was engaged in battle with Dreggan and Matt, he couldn't catch the arrows, which, now enchanted, did a far greater amount of damage than normal. A large dent had formed in the orcs chest plate, and the rest had been cracked by a single arrow. Taking aim again at the same area, Vanelee launched his second arrow. This time, the chect plate completely shattered into a hundred pieces of splinters of metal and fell to the ground. Now, the orcs chest was vulnerable to attack. Not waiting for the others to attack, since he had waited to long already to attack, Vanelee drew his second to last arrow and fired. This arrow caught the orc in the right part of his chest, and would have gone completely through had the orc not still had armor on his back. The warlord roared with pain and fell to one knee, finally showing some sign of fatigue to the barrage of attacks that had wounded him. But he was again up in a matter of seconds and ready to fight again. 'Is this guy for real?' Vanelee thought as he drew his last arrow and prepared another attack. Dreggan couldn't believe the fortitude of that warlord. It was still going even after all that damage. Bleeding from the upper part of his chest, the thief approached the fighter once again and prepared to attack. He only had a few needles left (all the others were impanted in orcs and their leader) and his sais were imbedded in the brute's right wrist and foot. Dreggan could only use his Savate skills now.
Gathering his strength, Dreggan kicked up a rock and kicked it in mid-air towards the orc. Smirking disgustingly the warlord easily shattered it with his meaty fist, but realized too late that this was just a distraction for the thief to get closer. Eyes wide, he saw Dreggan coming at him fast and screaming. Blinding pain assaulted him as he felt hard kicks connecting with the needles still imbedded in his face, as well as with the sais. When the pain subsided, the warlord saw that the sais were no longer in him. He was bleeding freely from his face, chest and wrist. He stood dumb and turned to face Dreggan, who had now retreated next to Vanelee and Nina. Stunned, he watched Vanelee raise his bow and Nina raise her right hand, crackling with electricity. He steeled himself for the coming onslaught.

Thinking it was time to add his blows to the series, Matt disappeared as an after image. When anyone realized where he was, he was above the orc. Matt's blow to the back of the orcs head had slightly raised the warlords heavy helmet, which until this time had covered all vulnerable areas of his grotesque skull from attack.
Vanelee saw his chance, mounted his arrow, aimed, and fired. Just as the arrow was launched, the orc looked up to see the attack, but he was a mere second to late to react. The arrow struck him in his exposed right temple, and drove itself halfway into his skull. The enchantment had done it's job in providing extra strength. The orc let out an ear piercing scream, much higher than his usual roar. He then dropped his broken scimitar and grabbed at the arrow, breaking it off and stumbling back. Vanelee was stunned that the orc was still on his feet, but soon relaxed as the warlord finall stumbled and fell ot the ground in a lifeless heap. 'Is it over?" the elf questioned. |

Feeling fresh and alert, having done little but charge Vanelee's arrows in the heat of battle, Nina approached the fallen orc resolutely. Her companions watched, tired but amused, as she ignited a glowing ball of energy between her hands and flung it into the exposed chest of the brute. Even the strongest creature could not survive that attack from such a close range.
The orc's body bucked on impact and then hit the ground with a sickening thud. Nina smiled wryly at Dreggan. "I hope that meets with your approval?"

"Yep. That about does it. I hope others like him won't get thrown our way anytime soon!"
Winking at Nina and slapping Vanelee's back vigorously, Dreggan began collecting his needles and searching the fallen orc's bodies for any valuables. While he did so, he retrieved a needle that looked different. It was slightly barbed and bore a strange inscription. It apparently struck an orc that was coming towards the party from the rear. Dreggan didn't remember taking him down... his eyes were wide and the needle was lodged in the middle of his right temple. The pain he felt would have been great, like an increasing migraine that feels like your brain is on fire until the internal hemorraging took its toll. Fingering the needle suspiciously, he looked around to see if its owner was still about. "Obviously, he or she won't be here anymore," thought the thief. "No self-respecting assassin would." But who was the owner? One of the Poison Fist toying with him by watching his back? Or perhaps a member of another guild? If so, why? Dreggan didn't care for this sudden wave of doubt overcoming him. It overshadowed the sense of accomplishment he felt after besting the horde with his companions. Speaking to himself, he concluded with a chuckle: "Well, whoever mystery man is, he sure knows how to aim." With that, he tossed the needle aside and rejoined the rest of the group. "Well, if you guys don't mind, I suggest we high-tail it to higher ground before scavenger roll in, unless Matt wants to bury each and every orc out here..."

This distraction might give us a chance to make some progress wthout coming under his eye or attack." Vanelee said looking around at the others to gauge their thoughts.
