how's the birds? |
I hereby proclaim that splck brings ridiculous frustration to this thread and should be required to deliver helpful hints after x amount of guesses and/or x amount of time.
Even if that 'how's the birds' is a hint, it isn't helpful to me. |

You want a clue? It's at a hwy stop of interest....and it's not in Toronto. ;) |
jeeez, that narrows it down!

The Malahat Pass?
*edit: just read through some of the clues. As I recall the Malahat on Vancouver Island has a highway pulloff where you can take pictures. I don't recall the totem pole, but the curb looks awfully familiar (as does the altitude of the terrain in the background). I'll look see if I can find my tourist shot of my visit to the Malahat... *edit: here is me at the Malahat back in '89. See the parking area curb? looks the same: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/b4d4fce3.jpg |
Very good Leto, your memory seems intact.
who the hell remembers a curb? Game on. |
curb your enthusiasm Splck
It takes a very special kind of drug to be in the space that I am in... :) Okay, because I am at work, I only have one decent picture to post, so, please look at the scene below, and tell me where it is, and what the object is in the background. (try not to dwell on the group of people in the foreground, I don't have any photoshopping tools at hand, but this picture is a couple of decades old, and so these people may not mind - even though one of them ended up being my wife!) http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/8639e73b.jpg |
hahaha
I love how everyone had big mustaches back then |
so... where is it?
|
Leto, you are in Kingston, ON, down on the waterfront. There are two sculptures down there in that area, that one, and there are two Huge cylinders that used (at that time) to be painted like a coke and a 7-UP can, but I think the city got sued or something, cause they are painted plain now.
|
Game on Lucifer,
I am indeed on the Kingston waterfront. The two cylinders that you were referring to were farther down the waterfront towards downtown (close to the Martello Tower) and was entitled "Pollution". When I was there, they were painted green, not like pop cans. Perhaps that was after the suing took place. The picture here is in front of the sculpture called "Time", which is just walking distance from the university residences, and therefore quite a hangout (at all hours). well done lad! |

Somewhere along the French River in PEI?
|
Not the French River in PEI
|
Ohh I know! I know!!
Scarborough Bluffs! no no wait... Leslie Spit? This is a spectacular picture! |
it really is a great shot, but I can't take the credit for it. Even though I have been to this place I didn't get any shots as good as this.
|
Reddish soil aside, it looks like the west side of cape breton. Margaree River/ Harbour area. Maybe a little more north. I swear I've seen it in person, I just can't place it.
|
you're in the right vicinity, but it's more than a little north
|
Hrm. If its not Margaree Harbour, its got to be the south end of Cheticamp.

And Queens University made the one your by, those two things where supossed to touch after some year but they missed each other! |
Quote:
I had no idea that they were supposed to touch each other. See, learning new stuff with this thread! As far as I know, that's where drunk/horny students went at night to do just exactly that: touch each other. At least that's what I've heard.... *edit Pain, do you work downtown? |
I don't know about drunk/horny students, but I did a girl on the beach there one year during CORK.
And Bossnass: still further north... |
Pleasant Bay?
|
Quote:
No I work in the Township but I cruise downtown a lot and I use King St. mostly to get out of downtown! |
nope.....Farther north, and west a little bit. You are on the right track with the soil colour, but it's not where you think..
|
Ok.
From Pleasant Bay: You can't be further north and west and still be on Cape Breton. You can't be west a little bit and hit Newfoundland. But the soil is a little reddish, so not Quebec proper. Therefore, I conclude that it must be Madaline Island. Er, I mean "Iles de la Madeleine". But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me again that Quote:

Quote:
I think that your logic is accurate, looking at a map, the closest place based on the hints would be near Havre-Aubert on the Isle.... |
Bossnass takes it! It is indeed Ile de Madeleine. In 2004 I spent a lot of time there as the ship that I was working on had a charter to carry salt from Grand Entree to Newfoundland and Quebec. Ile de Madeleine are beautiful beyond belief. Well worth a vacation sometime.
Game On! |

This picture's claim to fame is that I didn't know it had been taken until I pulled them all of the camera. |
Badlands of Alberta. Tyrrel?
|
damn close to Drumheller no?
|
You're both close. It is in the badlands. And it is damn close to Drumheller, where Royal Tyrell is located. On a technicality, since the purpose of the trip was not to visit the museum, I think it is a tie. Game on to whomever posts the next picture first.
|
well hell..........it ain't often i get any of these so.......i'll jump in.
took this either 2 years ago or 3 years ago.......not sure. where the hell "was" I? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../thetunnel.jpg |
