Another image may completely give it away. I may have even zoomed in too close.

In terms of roadside attractions, the Orange Julep is Montreal’s crowning glory. It was built in the 1940s by a gastronomic visionary named Hermas Gibeau. Apparently, he intended to live in the three-storey sphere with his wife and kids, while the counter below did a brisk trade in his already-popular foamy citrus beverage. This was in the heyday of car culture, before the Décarie expressway was considered one of the worst urban planning fiascos in the city’s history. Back then, instead of envisioning an anal artery spewing exhaust fumes onto the concrete wasteland above, architects imagined people promenading along the top, window shopping in boutiques and sipping G&Ts on terrasses...

aberkok 05-21-2006 07:41 PM

Nope. Let me know when clues become necessary (if at all).

Fly 05-22-2006 05:13 AM

bring on the clues man..........

aberkok 05-22-2006 06:46 AM

First clue: east

Leto 05-22-2006 12:33 PM

maybe if we knew who the characters are? Or are they generic? Or would knowing give the answer away?

aberkok 05-22-2006 12:49 PM

Knowing the characters won't help (I couldn't tell you anyway), but knowing what their function is would definitely help....and that's clue number two!

Charlatan 05-23-2006 04:14 AM

Joe's Scarecrow Village at Cap Le Moine, Nova Scotia.

It's on the Cabot Trail.

aberkok 05-23-2006 04:58 AM

Curse you Charlatan...always spoiling my dastardly plans...and I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you pesky kids!!

Game on.

Charlatan 05-26-2006 06:18 AM

Not in Brampton.

I believe this thread has shown a place that is just across the road from this church.

Sticky 05-26-2006 09:09 AM

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica Ottawa.

Charlatan 05-26-2006 09:13 AM

Game on Sticky!

(for the record... the Peacekeepers Memorial is directly across the road from this church).

Sticky 05-26-2006 09:22 AM

Nope. I think it was torn down before my one and only trip to the CNE. I recalled the statue.

I also had a (black sheep great-half) uncle that was a mason/shriner and saw a picture of him at the dedication in the 60s when my dad and I cleaned out his house a few years ago. He had no immediate family and left 600k+ to the Shriners Hospital.

edit- and now google tells me that that was a relocation and second dedication, the orginal was in the 30s. I guess I didn't recall what was on the plaque.

I think the history behind one of these bridges shaped my decision to pursue becoming a CivE.

Bossnass 05-26-2006 02:48 PM

They are very close to one another, at roughly the same height.
