Oprah book?
Nicoya Peninsula? |
...yes
...yes, but what region on the peninsula and what name is it referred to as in this study? ...you're so hot if i touch you you'll sizzle :rose: |
the palo verde national park?
|
Blue Zones?
|
...no, unc. The name of the region on the Nicoya Peninsula that i'm looking for is actually the same name as the book. The researcher and author was featured on Oprah but was also everywhere in the media because every human can learn and benefit from it's findings. This area is one of the five _ _ _ _ (space) _ _ _ _ s in the world. Fill in those two words and you've got a winner
:rose: |
So no to Blue Zones?
|
1 Attachment(s)
...YES! It's one of the five "Blue Zones" in the World (why did you think that would be a "no"?). The area is about 2 hours inland in an area that is about 70 miles long and 30 miles wide. There are five Blue Zones in the world where longevity is at it's highest and where the most centurians live. David Buettner is the reseacher and author. I don't have the time to find the website i was going to post but ya'll can google it.
"...the Nicoya Peninsula in the rain forest of Costa Rica...there are lots of very healthy centenarians there, in part because of the excellent hard water, which is full of calcium and magnesium, keeping their bones and muscles strong throughout their lives. A lot of physical labor still goes into food production there, from clearing fields to raise crops to picking fruit and grinding corn for tortillas, which is a great upper-body workout. In fact, people who live in this region have some of the best physical stamina in the world because they’re always on the move. People eat lots of corn, beans and squash, and there’s fresh fruit almost year-round. Another important piece of the longevity puzzle in Costa Rica and elsewhere is a sense of community and family ties. Older people live with their younger relatives, and those connections help keep people feeling young and in touch with their surroundings." You "GO", tully |
Interesting, very interesting. Almost moved to Costa Rica when I moved here but the boys (my dogs) were an issue.
Let me grab a rum and coke and go float in the pool and think of a good spot to hide. ---------- Post added at 09:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:43 PM ---------- Ok, find me! |

I can't find that on my map. I see a town in the south call Umm Qasr. Is that where you're looking? All these Iraqi towns seem to have at least 3 spellings. The town I'm in has two that I found.
Either way I'm not there. |

....just east of Tikrit is Al-AwjaAl-Awja Al-Auja or Al-Ouja...a poverty stricken village which is where saddam was born.....bingo?
...badbadnick? are you allowed to come out and play yet? we miss you :rose: |
No and No.
I"ll give you.... the Salah ad Din Governorate, I'm in a location with little to no amenities, I'm right next to the Tigris river, I have a huge connection to Saddam Hussein and, unless you've spent the past few years on mars, you've heard of my location. |
...i can't take all this rejection
...i've had it...i'm going to the beach ...well, okay, i was going anyway and i'll be back here tuesday night  of course. :rose: |
Don't feel rejected. You're missing the same clues everyone else is, think folks are going to groan when they get it.
Don't see how I can give any more clue without just telling you where I am. I have a feeling Nick's going to show up, read the clue and get it right away. Fresh eyes have a way of doing that. |
baji?
|
No.
Think of a small dark place with little air or light. |
not that little fucking hole in tikrit where they found saddam?
shell already guessed tikrit... |

north of the 40?
hi folks...I'm back from sailing, well at least we were sailing when we weren't in the doldrums of dundalk (i made that up, no such doldrum...but there should be). We had great wind on Saturday but no wind most of Sunday. Eating jumbo crabs an hour after they were delivered to the dock in St. Michaels is a sweet thing. |
north of 40...
there's a stretch from north of dundalk on south that is very doldrumy. glad you had some good crabs, though. i prefer big freakin' crabcakes, myself... |
Coastal?
WB Nick! BTW- sailing without wind is also known as being adrift. |
i border a coast, but not an oceanic one...
|
Are you in Michigan?
|
Ohio?
|
seeker - no
tully - no the body of water is not a "great" lake... |
Bay?
|
nope...
|
...sound?
...welcome back nick...the unsailing sounds like a bummer but glad you had fun anyway. I just got back from the beach and speaking of crabs, I had dinner at the Blue Water Grill near Wrightsville Beach on an inlet waterway where we sat outside and watched the boats go by...some of which docked right there, had dinner, then got back on their boats and left....and i must say they were the BEST crab cakes i've EVER had! :rose: |
So is the state you're in not coastal or just your specific location?
|
in Vermont?

unc, I have to agree crab cakes are the way to go. But every couple years I have to pick the crab apart to help me remember why I would rather just pay somebody else to get the meat out for me. On the plus side these were damn good fresh large crabs. We also had a bunch of steamers which are those strange clams that look like baby geoducks; steamers are like 1-1/2 inches across and this is an adolescent geoduck: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...od/geoduck.jpg ^ that neck/sucker mouth can extend upwards of 6 feet from where the geoduck buries itself on beaches and just the sucker sticks out to get food. I bet Tully is a geoduck expert since he's from the Pacific NW. My dearest daughter who lives in Olympia WA seeds the beaches of Puget Sound with baby geoducks as an environmental improvement project...if you can imagine having a large number of geoducks being an "environmental improvement" |
