Any Fellow Tabasco Addicts Out There?
Interested in seeing if there are any of you out there that are psychotic with Tabasco sauce like I am. I buy it by the gallon, directly from the plant in Louisiana, in order to save $ since I use so much. I'm on my 3rd gallon in the last year and a half, and I douse just about everything but sweets with it. As an example, I'll break the plastic seal and empty one of those 2 ounce little bottles at a restaurant with my lunch. I know that many of us love spicy foods and love Tabasco, but I haven't come across anyone that uses as much as I do. How much heat do you like???

Wow man your ass doesn't get sore from taking all those hot shits? I like Tabasco but I prefer jalapenos. I can eat like two of those with a meal three times a day, anymore than that and I'm crying on the toilet by midnight. My favorite sauce is Cholula.

Jesus---I love to rip jalapenos with meals as well. Since Chicago has such a high population of Latinos, I can get high quality peppers at most grocery stores. I guess I have an iron stomach, the Tabasco never really tears me a new ass. Cholula is good stuff, has a low salt content similar to Tabasco which I like.
Hedgehog--All flavors of Tabasco are great, I agree on the garlic especially. That stuff is incredible on a skirt steak, piece of chicken, whatever. Chipotle fantastic as well...

i'd tell ya my McIlhenny story off Avery Island - but you wouldn't believe me...
i use it sparingly as it tends to be too vinegary... so i use Angel of Death or Gator Hammock 911 more than others if need be... mainly i go the rub route and make a mop for the burning time... |

Yeah Hanx, I am a huge fan of all vinegars so that's one of the main reasons I use it so much. C'mon, make a long story short and tell us the Avery Island story. Did it involve some kind of wandering off during the tour for a quickie???

Avery Island is named after my great-great grandfather, whose daughter Chessie married Archibald McNichol Main (my great grandparents) who came from Scotland in the early 1920's and was co-founder of a shipbuilding company in Maine. Also in the family are the McIlhenny's which founded the Tabasco company going back to the 1860's.
So you could say I'm an owner as i was left stock which was passed down thru the generations. |

No shit, between my daughter and myself we use a five ounce
bottle every 2 weeks. It goes with everything and yes I like hotter so I have other evil flavors I use for wings and chilli! I love avery island and all of tabascos flavors. The newer smoked chipolta is excellent!

Yeah, we kill a medium-sized bottle of Tobasco really quickly. Use it mainly at breakfast, on eggs, and also in soup. It's good in vegetable soup, great in split pea soup.
I save the bottles; they make good flower vases, especially if you leave the labels on. I like the other flavors, but only the red stuff is really "Tobasco" for me. The only other bottled hot sauce I've tried and liked is something called Yucatan Sunshine, which is habanero based. It's got a good flavor, but it's not even as hot as tabasco (those habaneros are 'way diluted). |

Hey has anyone ever had a "Buffalo Sweat" shot? I don't know if my friend made it up or what, but its a fucking shot of whiskey with tabasco. Its actually pretty good, its a good eye opener. I wouldn't have tried it if I would have known what it was, but it wasn't bad.

i love hot sauce. i'll put it on pizza, fries, eggs, soup, everything.
i used to love tabasco, but now i've branched out. Siracha.. (With a Cock as its symbol) as mentioned before is my new favorite... hot, sweet and garlicky i like Cholula better than tabasco for plain everyday hotness jalapeno tabasco is my favorite tabasco and rocks in gaucomole Brother Bru Bru’s African Sauce is super spicy goodness. try it on any sandwich or hot dogs.

Also, try this (if you live in Canada and dig Beer and Clamato like me!) add 2 or 3 drops of tabasco in your glass before you add the beer and you can pour as hard as you want and the lipids (fat) in the tabasco eat up the head! I forget when I am out at bars that I dont have tobasco and everyone thinks I am an idiot when my beer overflows all over the table from my vigorous pour |

I certainly like tobasco, but since I cook most of my food from scratch I just dump chiles in it when I'm first fixing it instead of putting hot sauce on it (don't like the extra vinegar, over powers the flavor). My personal favorites for hot sauce though are some of the habanero sauces, melinda's is especially good; it's a nice thick sauce with some flavor to it.

Tabasco sauce goes best with everything, and plenty of it. If you happen to be sharing a meal with a Tabasco hating pussy, be sure to load it up with Tabasco and onions (they hate that). You have to be real stern with these type of people.

I only started the habit a few months ago, but since then I've been pouring it on everything. It becomes a compulsion to see how much more you can enjoy each time. It's always close to hand and is really such a universal hot sauce. If I could choose only two condiments for my kitchen, I'd choose tabasco and soy sauce.

About every four weeks I buy a 12oz Tobasco, 2-5oz Chipolte and 2-2oz Jalepeno bottles. Last Christmas I got a sampler pack of Dave's Gourmet Sauce , which was (past tense) real good too.
But I smother everything in Tobasco, I think Chipolte is my fav though, love that smokey taste. It's the only real seasoning I use when cookingn for myself. |
