he's a cyborg general...more machine than anything else. he's a new character, not in ep. 2, so you wouldn't have heard of him unless you've been keeping up with leaked info.

Im definitely not a fan of the acting either. Actually, the only person that really ruins it for me is Hayden Christensen. This guy is about a 3 out of 10 as far as acting talent goes.

That trailer kicks ass. I think this movie will be the best out of the first 3. I cant wait to see how Anakin gets the Darth Vader suit. This is something I have been dying to know since The Empire Strikes Back.

I can't wait to see that conehead jedi dude meet his violent end. Han Solo was the best character in ep.4-6 I'd like to get some of his backstory. Obviously ep. 3 will be judged primarily on the presence Admiral Ackbar has in the film. Based on the preview I've seen I'd have to give it 0 out of 5 stars.

The main reason everyone hated ep.1-2 is that the basic formula for ep.4-6 has been copied so many times and regurgitated by Hollywood. Lucas is left with a pallet of cliches to create with (not much clamoring about the upcoming Krull prequels is there?).

Now that the most cutting edge effects are coming out of New Zealand it looks like ILM is trying to add a touch of realism to compete.

One thing I'm looking forward to with seeing Vader in the suit is him fighting. Most of Vader's fights in the OT were dramatic, but not too impresive. I hope we see Vader fighing as quick as in the prequels.

I looked for this in the thread and couldn't find it, so hopefully this isn't a repost. In all its glory, I give you: Star Wars: Episode III trailer for the 1337.

EIII for the 1337

Unless you are pretty good with online game slang it'll be pretty incomprehensible, but if you get it, it's hilarious. Enjoy.

This was just broadcast on German tv an hour ago. As they are showing the SW movies during the next weeks, they had a short report about EP3 this evening featuring some new shots I believe which haven´t been shown elsewhere before. I´ve cut the only interesting parts together, the rest was the usual yadda yadda about fandom, the trailers and the old trilogy.

But these three seem to be new to me. First is GENERAL GREVIOUS entering his command room on his ship, looks like the finished shot to me. Second one is a short segment showing the UTAPAU SINKHOLE both finished and work in progress and the third one shows the first few scenes from the opening battle (also finished, but they show most of it with sound effects only).

Of course everything is in German, but it shouldn´t be too hard to follow. Have fun!

Wow, the movie thankfully lived up to all the hype. It was just really great, I felt like it really connected with the originals and had real strong emotional content. The action sequences were really well done, and the ending was just chilling. So many good things to say about it, but seeing as how it's like 4am and I'm both excited and exhausted at the same time, I should get to bed instead of rambling.

Go see the movie, you won't regret it!

EP3 was the best of the new trilogy (wasn't that hard though...)
I think the fun part at the beginning was a bit overdone (R2 vs. Battledroids)

Has anyone a picture of a seperatist trade federation ship?

There were CERTAIN parts that you could probably nitpick like... Spoiler: his conversion to the darkside. One minute, after attacking Windu, he's yelling, "What have I done?!?" then 2 seconds later, "I will become your apprentice. Teach me what you know." It was very... swift. Although, you could tell at that point he was very conflicted with constantly being presented with the choice, "You can save Padme. This is your only chance."

There isn't much story behind General Greivous. He wasn't in EP 2, yet he's a big main character in this one. I wish there was something more given so that I cared whether or not he died. Those parts seemed like they were "filler" for the main event, but the main event was so good it makes up for the other mistakes and flaws in the movie.

Other than that, it was perfect and ended like it should have.

The last 45 minutes of the movie were just utterly twisted and jaw dropping. I mean, you KNOW how it ends, but actually seeing it in detail... wow.

Spoiler: I loved the reconstruction scene on Darth Vader... the droids operating on his body, putting everything together... then comes the helmet. You watch his charred face become hidden by the mask being vacuum sealed... then the breathing starts.

Also I love how it gives you a different perspective on Vader himself. In Ep 4 - 6 he comes off as pure evil, but in this one you actually see how he was manipulated and lied to... so in Vader's mind, the Jedi really did betray him because of how well the Emperor mangled the truth. In Vader's mind, he really did save the republic and restore freedom to the galaxy while vanquishing those who "crave power" (Jedi). Very well done.

Saw it last night (this morning) and I loved it. Best of the prequels. By far the most pure action in any SW flick (though it does have its fair share of exposition), and thankfully the stupid comic relief was kept to a minimum, most of it is in the first 30 minutes of the movie and as mentioned before involves R2 and some even more inept than usual battle droids. Jar Jar is finally seen and not heard. But Lucas' warning was right, this not so much a film for the kiddies as the earlier films were. Very dark, very intense, with a few visuals of a type never seen before in a SW film. So many scenes and so much dialogue foreshadows (or echoes?) scenes in the OT. The Jedi purge actually made me tear up, as well as the final scenes. They were filled with emotion and very well done. As always, the most powerful scenes are those without dialogue where the usual top-rate John Williams score, Ben Burtt sound, and epic, sweeping visuals are all that is needed. The acting is still very wooden. Hayden Christensen is a better actor than he has shown us in these films. Ewan McGregor carries this film as he does in all the prequels.

All in all, I rank it equal to or maybe a notch better than ROTJ but still behind ANH and ESB. Definitely worth the price of admission, although maybe not a 6 week wait in line. And a definite plug for Fandango. I spent a half hour in line for concessions, and about 10 seconds at the box office window after walking right up.

Spoiler: I think at that point he still believed that he could win against papatine. like he said to padme, his plan was to save her and then kill palpatine to rule the universe with padme.
his final "break" point was when he heard the he killed padme, all hope for him was lost after that he was without willpower to resist.

After seeing EIII last night and being impressed, I can say that Episodes I and II should never have been made. Everything that happened in 1 and 2 could have been summarized in a 2 minute prologe and then got rolling with the action in EIII.

Some of my friends have never seen 1 and 2 and I am strongly encouraging them not to. They suck and make the whole series suffer with their suckage.

WOW what an AWESOME movie.

ep.3 just totally blew me away. the comic parts were genuinely funny. they didn't seem forced and weren't painful to watch (like C3P0 and jar jar were in TPM and AOTC) the order 66 montage and yoda's reaction to the jedi killings almost had me in tears, the final duels were awesome, and the end of anakin's relationships with obi wan and padme were tragic.

simply put: w00t EP. 3 ROCKED

I hate to say it, but it wasn't as good as I would have hoped. I expected much more out of it than I got. It was good. Better than I an II, but still not what I would have hoped for. I think the think I disliked most was how each scene and each landscape was more grandious and unbelievable than the next. Part of what made a new hope and empire that much better was that they were somewhat believable. This is just too out there.

Lucas: you are forgiven. Though the taint of ep 1 and 2 still mars this one somewhat, it was almost (almost) 100% completely awesome, and to finally get closure on the Star Wars legends from my youth is comforting in a quiet, sad way. I will never anticipate another film like I did the prequels (despite the fact that they were letdowns). Most significantly: I will never see another new Star Wars movie. And that makes me kinda sad.

Unless...

He is somehow convinced to make episodes 7-9, which should be based on the Timothy Zahn "Last Command" books, IMO. They are excellent if you haven't read them, and would translate well to the screen.

I thought it was a good ending to the trilogy.
I found the beginning too slow, but the last 45 minutes were awesome. They did have a couple approaching-cheesy-lines, but that's ok, the action sequences made up for that. :P
General Grievous *sighs* ahhh, good stuff. If you want to know more about him, watch the cartoon series Clone Wars, he's in there.

I agree, I read that series many years ago and I don't remember every detail, but I do remember at the time thinking how well they would work as movies. Unfortunately, I highly doubt it would ever happen.

I absolutely loved it! I had high expectations and it delivered on all accounts. Mind you, I had read/seen/heard nearly all the spoilers so I had a good idea of what to expect...

The acting was far more free, the dialogue less cheesy (though still off at some points) and Lucas' directing was superb compared to his previous efforts. Just look at the shot that reveals the opening battle, or how Anakin and Padme look to each other when Anakin is contemplating the huge decision in the Jedi Chamber, or when the Clonetroopers lead by a fallen hero march on the Jedi Temple.

One thing that really got me was the amount of passion in the first scene Anakin and Padme share together. The entire AOTC film lacked the equivelant passion in that one scene alone.

Obi-Wan's small speech with Anakin at the end of the duel really got me too...

But I'm a huge Star Wars fan from way back, if you're a fan or just enjoy the series you'll love it, if you're not a fan then you'll probably enjoy, if you're a dick who likes to complain because it makes you think your're cool then you'll hate it.
