I dunno, he looks pretty damn cool to me. Just as long as the entire movie isn't CG like ep2, I'll be fine. There was just an overabundance and overreliance on graphics and shit. Plus the super-bad acting on the part of Hayden Christensen, bleh.

^nope lol that's the guy. haha. and how could you not expect episode 3 to be mostly cg? lmao that's funny. It'll be just like the first two prequels... meaning MOSTLY cg. I thought Hayden did a pretty good job in Star Wars... I mean it's STAR WARS; you can't expect Oscar-worthy performances in it.

I breaks my heart, but my 3 year old son prefers to watch Attack of the Clones over any of the original Trilogy. He does enjoy watching Return of the Jedi (mostly because of Jabba and the inevitable Ewoks) when I play them on LD. Hopefully once the DVD's are released he may find them to be better than the new Trilogy.

On a side note it was hilarious the other day when he and I were looking through one of the DK picture books and he made the realization that Anakin was inside Darth Vader. It really messed with his mind I wonder what he'll think of Episode 3 when he finally gets to watch it.

You know I was really looking forward to AotC, depite the rather crappy title, even though Ep 1 was pure crap. To tell you the truth I rather liked Clones... well let me rephrase that... I rather liked Clones when Obi Wan was onscreen. The Padme/Ani crap? That's what the skip button on the DVD player is for
Do I have hope that Ep 3 will be great? Not much. Do I think it will be good? Possibly. Will it be as good as Empire? Not a hope in hell.

BTW the SPOILER that Sam Jackson gave away is... and skip it if you dont want to read it but if you've seen the original trilogy its no surprise...

My question is wheather they will make films out of any of the EU stuff, that's where they could get fantastic, especially if GL has nothing to do with them besides approving scripts. He's already approved the EU books so i say just make them into movies.
Ep1 was a piece of shit. It boiled down to a stupid fucking pod race, and an anticlimatic sword fight (Maul got fucking CHODED so bad in that), and Jar Jar fucking Binks, the source of all that is evil and wrong in the world.

Ep2, Yup, that sucked two. Little Skywaker was a whiny fucking BITCH before he put the helmet on. And while he was only in it for 30 seconds tops, it STILL had Jar Jar fucking Binks, the source of all that is evil and wrong in the world. The story was weak, the big villian at the end had the dumest fucking name in the universe. Lord Dookie. What the fuck is that?

There are two reasons, and two reasons only I'm waiting to see the thrid.

1: With luck, we will see Jar Jar fucking Binks, the source of all that is evil and wrong in the world eat the wrong end of a laser blaster.

2: The birth of Vader. The voice of James Earl Jones will once again bring it's joy to the starwars universe. For some things, I will sit through any movie, no matter how bad

Is it just me or has any body else made the connection that the one character that everbody hates (I'm refering of course to Seer666's tirade) is the one character to ulitmately give Palapatine the go-ahead to take over the galaxy?

Everything in the OT boils down to Jar Jar being a character that wants to do right, and thinks that his actions are what Padme would do to end the feuding. Without Jar Jar there would be no "Grand Army of the Republic" and Anakin wouldn't end up being Vader.

I think GL heard all of the ranting and backlash over Jar Jar and decided to make him be the one character who, through good intentions, unravels the entire galaxy, and vindicates the character of Jar Jar.

I read on Fark yesterday that Gary Oldman may provide the voice of General Grievous in Ep. III, and I found two sources that say he might, too.

http://comingsoon.net/news.php?id=5250

Quote:
Gary Oldman in Talks for Star Wars: Episode III

Source: Douglas Management Group, The Leaky Cauldron Tuesday, June 22, 2004

Gary Oldman, who can currently be seen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is in negotiations to perform a character voice in Star Wars: Episode III, according to his reprentatives at the Douglas Management Group. Which character's voice he may perform is not revealed, yet a good guess would be that of General Grievous, the new villain of the final prequel.

Producer Rick McCallum previously said that "in 'Attack of the Clones', we saw that former Jedi Count Dooku was the political leader behind the Separatists movement and instigator of the Clone Wars. In 'Episode III', we'll meet General Grievous, the military leader of all the Separatist armies. He's part alien and part robot. Grievous is a master strategist and the greatest hand-to-hand Jedi killer the galaxy has ever known."

Oldman also stars in Paramount's upcoming The Longest Yard remake with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Burt Reynolds. "Episode III" hits theaters on May 19.

Quote:
Confirmed: Gary Oldman will be Star Wars bad guy
[from IMDb Movie/TV News]

British actor Gary Oldman will play the "deadliest" Star Wars villain ever in the franchise's final prequel Episode Three.

The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban star will voice character General Grievous, who is a part-alien/part-robot. And insiders say Oldman - who is considered to be one of the finest actors of his generation - was handpicked for the part by series creator George Lucas, who is a big fan of his work.

A source says, "George thought Gary was the ideal choice." According to reports, Oldman's character will try and hunt down Jedi knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi in the film, which is due to hit cinemas next summer.

Published June 24, 2004
I'm still not sure Gary's doing it, but it would surely be a kick-ass performance if he does.

Meanwhile, work is coming along on the film at a slow to medium pace:

Episode III: Picking Up the Pace
June 25, 2004

Episode III continues to gain momentum as the May 19, 2005 date looms ever nearer. The next big milestone has been scheduled -- the round of additional photography (also known as "pick ups") that fills in the missing pieces of the current edit of the picture.
As was done in the previous films, the first round of principal photography is followed by months of editing that generate new angles, scenes, and ideas. These will be captured onto HD in a brief but intense stint of additional photography.

"We're honing in a second cut of the film for July," says Producer Rick McCallum. Director George Lucas has shown the rough cut to select department heads and close friends, and the evolving edit currently has a number of placeholder animatics that will have to be replaced with new footage.

Starting August 23 and running through September 4, Director George Lucas will again roll cameras on Episode III, this time in the UK. "We've got two full weeks of shooting," says McCallum. Among the cast members slated to work in that period are Silas Carson, Hayden Christensen, Anthony Daniels, Samuel L. Jackson, Ian McDiarmid, Christopher Lee, Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman.

Returning from the Sydney shoot, Creature Shop Supervisors Dave and Lou Elsey will be on hand, as will Costume Designer Trisha Biggar and Supervising Art Director Peter Russell. The rest of the small crew will be mostly new hands.

"It will be primarily blue and greenscreen shooting. There won't be any full sets, but there may be large set pieces. This round of shooting is mostly just patching holes and providing transitions," adds McCallum. "We do have a whole new sequence with Hayden and Yoda."

Meanwhile, at ILM work continues at a steadily increasing pace to meet the April 1, 2005 deadline of over 2,000 visual effects shots. Joining the production as a Visual Effects Supervisor is Roger Guyett. His previous projects as VFX supervisor include Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Timeline, Tears of the Sun and Saving Private Ryan. He joins Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll and Animation Supervisor Rob Coleman .

"On Episodes I and II, we had three supervisors from the very start, but this time we're bringing them in over time," says McCallum. "Roger will have huge sequences. John Knoll's unit will end up having about 1,000 shots, and I can easily see Roger having 1,000 as well."

Guyett is currently overseas shooting exotic background plate photography for what will become the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk.
Man! I can't wait to see Kashyyyk.

Somewhere, George Lucas is crying because he realized what a hack he had become after he saw Peter Jackson not only NOT fuck up lotr, but make it the pimpest shit in town. After I watched episodes 1 & 2, I thought they were subpar AT BEST... But I trying to rationalize it thinking, "Well, Star Wars is such a huge universe with so much hype and material to cover that it would be impossible for anybody to do it any justice." Well now I obviously know that that is not true, because Jackson accomplished what I thought was the impossible.

It has to be cheesier than "Attack of the Clones."

I can't believe Lucas is STILL going for nothing but crappy CGI. Audiences are getting tired of CGI's obviously fake effects; how long is it going to be until directors catch on?

The debates about Star Wars prequels are always hilarious.

The ONLY reason people think the first two suck is because of the nostalgia factore created by the first 3. They were something new and innvoative for their time. The story WAS done before (I believe Lucas just merged several popular stories/themes together). Also, most people saw these as kids. There was a HUGE "wow!" factor.

Fast forward 15 years later.. TPM wasn't anything special in terms of graphics. CGI broke boundaries in Jurassic Park 7 years prior, so nothing new in that department.

Considering the original 3 were Episodes 4, 5, and 6, it's the job of the first 3 to simply fill the story that leads up to those movies. Had 1, 2, and 3 been made FIRST, the series probably wouldn't have been as popular. TPM was about.. what? The senate/republic blah blah.. who wants to see that? Well... people clamored for years about the first 3 episodes, and now ya got em! What'd you think it was gonna be about?

Acting was just as shoddy in EP 4, 5, and 6 as it was in EP 1 & 2. Yeah, Jar Jar is a bit out of place, but the character isn't that big of a deal. Anakin in TPM was a horrible actor, but so was Mark Hamill in EP4.

You're witnessing the amazing power of hype. The prequels aren't bad movies at all... it's just that you're expecting them to utterly blow you out of the water when you already know how the story ends, on TOP of a lack of "wow!" from special effects. The MEAT of the storyline was EP 4, 5, and 6... and probably 3 considering it's the turning point of Anakin/Vader. Movies prior to that.. simply filler acts leading to the real deal.

Remember the hype surrounding the Matrix? The first one was goddamn NICE, but because people expected the sequels (which were also good movies) to totally be on par or BEAT the first, they were left disappointed.

The fact of the matter is, if you liked the first 3, you WILL see EP3. You know you will. People can ridicule George Lucas about his money vault all they want, but also realize you're helping him get there

That's it. That's the argument I was looking for. I couldn't have put it better myself, Stompy, because you're precisely correct. I mean, come on, 17 years of anticipation is gonna make anything that you see on-screen, especially something as ultra-hyped as Star Wars, is gonna pale in comparison to your expectations. None of these movies were that bad, the expectations of those who watched them were too high, bolstered by the fact that you had almost 20 years of waiting piled on top of whatever expectations you might have had for the movie. That's just not fair to the people who made them.

The only problem I've had in the two new movies was the teen Anakin being such a whiny little bitch and the putt-putting of the vehicle's engines, the rest doesn't bother me.
Jake Lloyd wasn't that bad for a kid, and I always enjoyed Jar Jar.
