I have to say I'm a little concerned for Peter, because...he thinks he can fly, like his brother! What's gonna happen if/when he flings himself off a skyscraper when his brother's not around?!? I know he didn't get much camera time afterwards, but when he painted the future in the Artist's apartment (sorry, I'm not great about remembering character's names--except for Nikki/Jessica! ), he didn't make a big deal out of this "second" superhuman ability.
I don't think he's gonna get to be too god-like, because you have to have time to master those skills, and he hasn't done too much even with the one skill he's demonstrated more than one time. I'm still confused about The Haitian. Grrr, I want to post what could be a spoiler, but I don't know how. Oh, and what is going on with the cop who can read minds? He's being awfully passive--and that chick he's working with is *extremely* unprofessional, whiney, and annoying. I feel like his character is being completely under-developed. So Radiation dude is out of the slammer. He needs to be tranquilized if they ever hope to contain him. That so sucks that he caused the death of his wife--classic hero stuff there. I feel like even *his* character is being dealt with in a more interesting way than the cop.

OK, what do you think of: Spoiler: Clair's Dad using Nikki's husband to mess with people's memories? Initially I thought that Nikki's husband was Skyler (sp) because of the whole brain/memory connection, but now obviously that's wrong. Could Nikki's hubby be The Haitian? Although yeah, of course he doesn'thave an accent--but I still don't get how anyone could briefly interact with someone and say, "That Haitian guy..." To be honest, I don't know if that merited a spoiler thingy, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

No, Sultana, Nikki's husband is D.L. and the mind eraser is the Haitian. They're two different people. They look nothing alike but I can see where your confusion comes from.

Finished watching today's ep.
I didn't think it was anything special. But is anyone curious as to how Peter was able to fix his foot after Claire had walked away?

You kidding? I thought tonight's episode totally kicked ass! Peter saved the cheerleader. Presumably therefore also saved the world.
Peter retains some "leech power" after being in contact with another special person. remember--it was later in the day after seeing Isaac that he sketched himself flying on the rooftop. My only question is: where were Hiro and Ando? Isaac painted them at the highschool--looking at a "Homecoming" banner that was dripping with blood. But that painting happened before Hiro went back to save Memory Girl (I'm so bad with TV names!). He must have changed the timeline, preventing himself from showing up at the homecoming game, I guess. Ando's still sitting at the diner. No telling where Hiro is in the "current" timeline--though from the "next time on", we'll probably find that out. |

I thought this was a great episode! It's nice to see a show deliver on it's promises for once (yes, i'm talking to you, Lost). I was afraid for a second that Sylar died in the fall, which would have been a very anti-climatic end to a cool villain.
It's cool how Peter just sort of casually let it be known that he's aware of what his powers acutally are. It seemed like for a while he was a bit oblivious to it. Sylar slowly killing (did she actually die?) the bitch cheerleader was suffiently creepy. A little bit of development between Claire and her boy toy friend is always nice. The Nikki/Jessica storyline was pretty pointless. She's kind of a cool character and all, I guess, but she seems to have nothing to do with the overall storyline. And the storyline she *does* have is spinning its wheels. Guess we'll see about that. Only one more episode before repeats, I think, and it looks like an interesting one. Thumbs up.

I keep seeing Heros being attached to Battlestar Galactica for the purpous of finding an audience in advertising on the Sci Fi channel. Quid pro quo. I'd like to see NBC finally grow some nuts and bring Battlestar Galactica over to prime time (but to leave creative control with Ronald D. Moore). Between Heros and Galactica, Lost would die off quickly and NBC would have a niche market owning science fiction. Let's face it, as Moskie stated above: Lost is redundant and doesn't reward loyalty with payoffs. It's too mysterious (not that I'm not smart enough to get it, but it's needlessly complicated on purpous).
That being said, I'm really curious about next week. What the heck is going on with Hiro?! Is the Claire out of danger? What are MY superpowers? |

Maybe Hiro and Ando do get there, but too late (after the fact). And then, possibly think they are too late and Hiro may try to change time again? I was pretty bummed that Charlie indeed did die and that Hiro could not save her (I thought for sure that she would remain a character on the show - being cute and all and as a possible love interest for Hiro made it interesting). I thought the "showdown" between Peter and Sylar was a bit anti-climatic. I had thought for sure that Peter would use Sylar's power in a battle. Now we have the interesting twist of Peter being arrested too. I was also a bit surprised that Eden and the Haitian were able to subdue Sylar so easily. Especially after Eden had trouble convincing Isaac to paint that time. Rat, you may be onto something with the timeline but nowadays I just avoid thinking about it - it gives me a headache....(the time travel stuff is just too confusing) Moskie, I think maybe Zach is indeed gay? I thought they were making a subtle outing in tonight's episode. Too bad, I was kind of hoping he hooks up with her. I like the Mohinder stuff, we are starting to get deep into the background of the story now. I want to know, did Shanti have a power and does that mean Mohinder might also? It all seems to fit in the whole, genetics, evolution theme. I think we need to be patient with the whole Nikki/Jessica, DL, Micah storyline. They have to come into play relatively soon. They are a family of "heroes". |

Claire's power is involuntary. Her body just does it. That's why Peter was able to use her power and not Sylar's; when she was near him, his body just healed itself. Same way with Isaac's power--he gets high and it just happens, so it was able to just happen to Peter. In principle, Peter should be the only hero who can take Sylar, and then only when he's surrounded by other heroes. AND when he's had plenty of time in their company to practice up. Quote:

Given that we are about to see the previous 6 months unfold, I wonder if we will arrive at a different present after all is said and done. It could go either way I guess. The older waitress at the diner said that Hiro "popped out of her life month's ago." so in the current present she dies, but perhaps things
will turn out differently as we rewind along with him. Either way, I'm really looking forward to Hiro's story. Does anyone have a screen cap of Mohinder's Dad's computer screen showing the names of those with powers? That would be fun to read. On a production note, to my tender eyes, I think the head(less) cheerleader's death may officially have been the most graphic and gory one ever shown on prime time network television.

I don't know if Peter's way of gaining other's powers is proximity, or through touch.
Did he touch his brother and the painter before he got their powers? 'Cause I remember him bumping into Claire, and then later on touching her hand(s) when he's getting her to start running away from Sylar in the locker-room. He touched Sylar, too, (besides being in his proximity) so I wonder if he has regenerative powers and telekenesis.

I thought a huge battle was going to take place at the high school, but I guess I should have realized everyone is still learning their powers. Except for Cyler, who seems to be uber powerful and did you see how he threw Claire into the wall? Her face was really smashed!

I was being dorky and decided to read a bit on NBC's own Heroes forum... and there was a theory discussed about Sylar that blew me away. No idea if it's what's gonna happen, but I thought it was great nonetheless. I'll spoiler it, just in case...
Spoiler: Sylar is Peter, from the future (something that's been suggested here before, too). He has come back in time, using Hiro's powers that he's absorbed. But here's the real kicker: Sylar is the alter-ego that's created when Peter absorbs Nikki's powers of split personality / psycho-ness! I think that's a kick-ass idea, and I would be mightily impressed if that's what they did. I think it covers every angle... It gives a reason for Peter becoming evil, and it explains why Sylar let Peter get away so easily. He couldn't kill his past self, now could he? Thoughts? edit: there's another idea i wanted to discuss, too. Maybe it's obvious, but what the hell. People have brought up the idea that maybe Claire is immortal/invulnerable/unkillable/whatever, and didn't really need protection from Sylar. But, remember she was incapacitated when that metal rod was shoved through her brain. She was unable to heal anything when she was, I guess, brain dead. And what does Sylar do? Steals your damn brain. So that might be an effective (and only?) way to kill her.

Moskie, I like your suggestion. But I would think that if your idea is true, Sylar shouldn't of had any problem identifying who Claire was. Instead, he killed the other one.

Am I the only one who's wondered about Niki's tattoo?
- well check this out: Spoiler: Appearing frequently throughout the series is a symbol which strongly resembles an RNA molecule. Said appearances include: * Several flotation devices in the swimming pool at a crime scene float in this shape. * As a recurring shape shown scrolling across a laptop screen in a genetic profiling program created by Chandra Suresh. * On a drawing done by Peter Petrelli. * Frequently painted by Isaac Mendez. * On a post-it note on the map in Mohinder Suresh's apartment. * Written on a geometry textbook owned by Claire Bennet. * Written on pictures in Sylar's apartment. * As a tattoo on Niki's back whenever her alternate personality surfaces. * Engraved on the hilt of future Hiro's sword. * Printed on the front of Chandra Suresh's book, Activating Evolution. * Printed on the upper-left corner of the 14th issue of 9th Wonders! comic book, written by Isaac Mendez (the 13th issue that Micah was reading did not have the symbol). * On a necklace worn by the Haitian. * On a picture of Niki painted by Isaac. The symbol was hidden under an extra layer of paint. A second symbol, consisting of two parallel lines, has appeared on the necks of two of the super-powered characters in the show: * Matt Parkman, the telepathic main character. * Ted Sprague, a character who appears to possess radiokinesis. More info about the RNA molecule

It also shows Peter getting captured by the cops, perhaps that will be his turning point if he stays in prison. Maybe he even runs into Nikki there. The only thing that seems off is that I thought his absorbtion powers wore off after a few minutes? Like the flying. Although maybe when he grows in skill he gets to keep the powers permanently. Also, at the end when they showed Sylar's eye in a brief bit of lighting it reminded me of Peter's eye. Anyone want to check? Last edited by Zeraph; 11-24-2006 at 08:15 PM.. |

The promo I saw for next week's episode claimed we were going to learn how Sylar came to be as the previous 6 months are recapped. They showed a brief shot of him in bright daylight, looking quite innocent. Despite some similarities, it was definitely not Peter.
I do like your implication that he's being "persuaded" to kill the heroes. That's a neat twist.

Peter wasn't able to control his flying ability when he was around his brother. It makes sense that he wouldn't even have an idea of how to control Sylar's telekinesis. As for how he died, falling off a school tends to be quite fatal.

I'm looking forward to the bit where Peter is taken in and he's sat down cause they think he's sylar and he meets up with Matt.. Eventually Peter will start reading minds XD
Definetly waiting for this weeks episode I'm still trying to figure why Sylar is doing what he's doing. He's definetly got the list of them all. Maybe he wants to be the only one, the only special one? Perhaps you are right and he's being forced to do this.. I still think it might be more of a power thing. A person finds they've got this great power (which telekinesis is) they go nuts and go from there.

I'm really looking forward to when Peter and the mindreader meet too. I'm thinking there is some powerful corporation or agency that has gotten ahold of the genetic finding work and is using Sylar to collect their brains so they can make their own super powered soldiers. I had thought it was Claire's Dad that was a part of of it, but it seems he really does care for her. though that doesn't entirely rule out the possibility. I have this weird feeling that Matt's timeline actually takes place before everyone else's, and the little girl that he saves is Claire, dead parents and all (Sylar must've time travelled to kill her while she's still young, after coming in contact with Hiro at some point). It's also pretty weird how people just unwittingly know what a Haitian (or "Euro dude" as described by Nathan) man looks like...
On a general note, i think Sylar consumes the brains or something like that, it would be nice if the show established some rules to the people's abilities, like them originating in the brain.. it would explain why he's so powerful, can move stuff, cut sculls open, and apparently survive a few bullet hits. |
