Agreed. But here's the thing--Sylar's powers are under conscious control. He has to WANT to wing locker doors at people. Evidently he has to point at a forehead to cut a skull open. Nathan's power is also under conscious control, which is why Peter has been only making baby steps at flying.
Claire's power is involuntary. Her body just does it. That's why Peter was able to use her power and not Sylar's; when she was near him, his body just healed itself. Same way with Isaac's power--he gets high and it just happens, so it was able to just happen to Peter.
In principle, Peter should be the only hero who can take Sylar, and then only when he's surrounded by other heroes. AND when he's had plenty of time in their company to practice up.

I was also a bit surprised that Eden and the Haitian were able to subdue Sylar so easily. Especially after Eden had trouble convincing Isaac to paint that time.

Yeah. Something's fishy about Eden. She does Jedi Mind Tricks. So why has she been arguing and pouting so fetchingly at Old Man Bennett? Why not just say "These aren't the paintings you're looking for"?

Rat, you may be onto something with the timeline but nowadays I just avoid thinking about it - it gives me a headache....(the time travel stuff is just too confusing)

Well, next week should clear it all up.
