Maya was dead for about 10 minutes. For some reason Suresh had a syringe with Claire's blood and he used it to revive her. If you were bored, it's easy to see how you missed that.
|
LOL I guess I was really bored because I sure as heck don't remember that. That happened this season or last season?
|
Man some of these comments really make me not want to watch season 2 and 3 just because of how stupid the plot sounds. This show is hardcore overrated.

You just made me think of one thing: Spoiler: since Noah made the deal with Bob, and Bob is dead, why would he still want to work with the Company? After what the did to him and his family, you would think he would work independently or maybe team up with Bob's daughter, Elle, who was basically bitch slapped by mrs petrelli. Also, where's the memory girl and flying kid from last season? How would they fit into this plot, or are the writers pretending they never existed? Micah's story from season 2 with the memory girl was such a waste of time... |
I enjoyed how Elle knocked out Sylar with a burst of her electricity powers. I want to see her lose control and kill everyone; is that wrong?
|
i don't know if i can handle the idea of sylar as a good guy. he is supposed to be evil incarnate; a VILLAIN, if you will. i know there's gonna be some harsh plot twists and whatnot, but the whole idea of sylar playing nice just bothers me.

Yeah, I had a lot of problems with this as well. I could see them forcing him to help by using the Haitian, or withholding something he needs to survive, but he's cooperating (somewhat) on his own. Doesn't make sense to me. |
I actually think that turning Sylar sympathetic (which they tried to do last season, unsuccessfully) is a very interesting twist. Having him fight his demons as he tries to do right by his mother could lead to some intriguing situations.

a pattern seems to be emerging with the Heroes writers here: the brilliance of their compelling characters and the intriguing universe those characters inhabit is becoming polluted by short-sighted plot developments and straight up cop-outs. don't get me wrong, it's still an amazing show that i will watch till the end, and obviously i have respect for the writing, but this season's story is already starting to feel so forced; so rushed. all i can hope for, i guess, is for it to "normal" out in the next few episodes. |
a quick note about the 3rd episode... Fucking Hiro!!....this guy is starting to piss me off. In the start he was (in my mind) one of the most exciting characters in terms of potential.. but now he seems to becoming a bumbling idiot..first with him losing the first half of the formula JUST after getting it out of the safe (when he was told NOT to by his dead dad via tape) and then in episode 3 when he loses the OTHER half of the formula.....ugh. this guy needs to grow some balls and start doing cool things again, like the future hiro we saw in season one.
|
I blame network executives sticking to action movie convention: Fat guys and nerds can never be destined heroes. They must be sidekicks or killed or played for laughs.

This show has jumped the shark. I only continue to watch because I do love a good train wreck.
Spoiler: Nobody of importance has died since Isaac Mendez, who isn't dead, just reincarnated as some African nomad I like Sylar, the power hungry killer who slices people's heads open. Not Gabriel "Mr. Mom" Petrelli. A big thumbs down. The whole thing was a dream, like when they brought back Patrick Duffy and wrote off an entire season of 'Dallas' WTF? How many times is the Hatian going to get sucker punched? First a vase, then a trash can lid? His whole 'power nullification' gig just simply isn't helping him. Kinda lame that they brought Adam back from the dead (figuratively). They'd better have a damn good reason for freeing him. When will Peter learn that the best way to fix the future is to STOP FUCKING WITH THE PAST? Didn't he watch Star Trek and learn about the temporal Prime Directive? And finally, Nathan is the fifth Cylon. |
I think the guy that was hit with the trashcan lid wasn't the Haitian, but the escapee from Ward 5. (The guy that gets super-strength from feeding off of people's fear.)
What I want to know is, why didn't Peter stop time and rescue Sylar's kid? Doesn't he have Hiro's powers? |

this show is falling victim to the Jumper way of writing. sure, peter could save the world if he just used his powers at the right time and properly, but then the show would be over, and we wouldn't want to stress our poor writers to actually be creative now would we? Quote:
don't even know if i'm gonna bother making time to watch it on it's release, and just watch it at my leisure on nbc rewind instead. |

Even though I don't really like them, it kind of bothers me that there hasn't been much of Micah and no mention of his cousin from Season 2. I mean this kid became a pretty important character in the first season, just lost both of his parents in the second season, and he has said that he wants to "help people" and "catch bad guys". Then they setup the character of his cousin who also wants to do more with her life. You'd think the writers could make a decent plot line for them in Season 3 after setting them up for it. I guess its still early in the season... And I agree they're really going to have to stretch it to justify Spoiler: releasing Adam Monroe. I mean, he only wanted everyone in the world to die last season. I'm still waiting for Hiro to get his head out of his ass, get a katana, and do something cool, but each episode so far makes it seem unlikely to happen anytime soon. |
Oy oy oy. This show had so much going for it: an unraveling mystery in the first season that appeared to consist of a fully-realized universe with a backstory and a proper place for all of the main characters. Heroes had really great music. The special effects were high-quality, and the show got a lot of money pumped into it (can you imagine what BSG or a Joss Whedon show would be like with these budgets!). The show made excellent use of a large stable of underrated character actors. It allowed foreign characters to speak in their native languages. It was about superheroes, for crying out loud.
Now, about 1/8 into Season 3...I mean, what the hell? Spoiler: Jumping back-and-forth through time for no reason. Constantly. It's confusing, it's boring, it's unnecessary, and it's ruining the show. Characters never use their powers appropriately. They also change temperament, goals, lifestyle, and behaviors at the drop of a hat. Maya seems to have entirely lost her native South American accent between episodes 2 and 3. Important characters just stop appearing (Micah and his whole family). There are like 12 characters now who can see the future, except apparantly for Peter, even though he has that power. Everyone apparantly was born out of Ma Patrelli's vagina. Kristen Bell isn't in every scene. And on top of that, the show can't even get deaths right. As every comic book fan knows, you're allowed to bring back dead characters. But there are rules: it has to be unexpected, it has to be well-explained, it has to be game-changing, it has to be badass. And most importantly: it has to be at least a decent amount of time since the character was offed! Someone has to get Joss Whedon on this show, stat, to teach them how to bring back dead characters, because the only cool thing about Season 2 was how Adam was "killed" finally at the very end and now he's back in episode THREE! WTF! It's been a while since I've seen a show spoil this much promise this quickly. Blech. |

Wow. Heroes has become a complete train wreck... last Monday's episode is still sitting on my DVR unwatched, because I'm really starting to lose interest.
The writers need to sit down and start killing people off and make up their minds on what they're going to do with their characters (Possible spoilers) Ando needs to die, and Hiro needs to be smarter and darker like future Hiro in Season 1. Mohinder's character is FUBAR and needs to die. Maya needs to go for not using her power to kill Mohinder last week. HRG and the moms need to die, making Claire even darker (I like her transformation from cheerleader to badass). Also where is Claire's brother this season? Kill him too. Above all, people who die need to stay dead. If they come back somehow (which they very rarely should) make it good - same rule applies if they change "sides"; Sylar is supposedly pure evil and would've killed Ms Petrelli by now. Bringing back Kristen Bell is the only hope this season has of being good. If there is a season 4, I hope it is more coherent and explores different ideas rather than the usual "massive, looming catastrophe -> time travel / future seeing -> crisis averted" formula. |
I just found out that I'm also a son of the Patrelis.
|
Arthur Petrelli sucks your abilities away from you.
Sylar can acquire your abilities, but ends up killing you in the process. Peter gains your abilities just by being in the same room with you. Nathan can fly. Somebody was obviously shortchanged here. |
Speaking of the Petrelli sons, what a bunch of useless whackos eh? First off the fiasco at costa verde of which Peter could have stopped then this thing with his dad, mom in a coma and sylar still being alive in the first place, speak of the worst people ever to leave the fate of our humanity upon their hands!!!
|
You would think Peter would charge into the room, take everyone out and ask questions later. But, he is a fraking tool who decides to hug his dad who then takes his powers.
This is what I would do: Me: *charges into room* Dad: Hello son! Give me a hug! Me: AH! (shoots everyone with electricity) I would hire Sylar to torture the big boss for information and once I have the information, kill them both. |
Charging blindly into rooms is never a good idea. Haven't these guys heard of surveillance? Intelligence gathering? No wonder the good guys never win.

Dear Peter,
Did you forget about me? Love, Irish Chick in an alternate future |

So who saw Heroes last night? What did you all think?
I'm skeptical about this new storyline - I'm kind of getting tired of the characters constantly switching sides (HRG guy). |

Although it looks like the writers may be doing it on purpose, as they seemed to hint/nod to their previous story arc by putting all the main characters back where they started in their normal lives (cabby, security, messenger, paramedic, etc). Peter even meets Mohinder in a cab again. |
Did Peter's original power reboot during the eclipse?
|
It didn't reboot, but it's different. It looks like once he comes in direct contact with somebody with an ability, he gains that, but when he comes in contact with somebody with a different ability, he gains the new ability and loses the old one.
I dunno about you, but the whole extraordinary rendition angle seems so....last administration. |
The word "new" would still apply for me. I watched the pilot on the streaming Netflix thing and thought it was interesting. No clue what happens after that aside from Mr. Sulu making some kind of appearances on the show in a limo sporting a license plate referencing Star Trek.
|
So the heroes crashed on an island. Who else wants to see Clair being beaten by the smoke monster? Anyone? Anyone?

Watch, Ben will walk out, just you wait. |
Ben is Sylar's dad...

|
fresnelly - I think you summed it up
I'm still watching, hoping for some sort of pay off in the end... my thoughts: Sylar's daddy issues plotline is annoying, especially his sidekick kid. Claire/HRG love/hate stuff is tired. Hiro needs to stop being such a baby, Ando is lame. Waiting for Nathan to unveil the Sentinels to help track down mutants; also waiting for him to change his mind about this whole operation and be there at the critical moment to help Peter take it down in the end. |
