I'd say for me it's sushi/sashimi and related asian foods. Very fast, you don't even have to cook most of it and a good chef can whip together a nice roll or other concoction faster than you can say "McDonalds and similar foods are generally not very good for you". But I eat those too by the way and love a good burger or steak.
A European slant to my favorite is raw herring (with chopped onion) that was caught a few hours before consumption, which is possible and popular in the Netherlands and local areas. |

Over here it's a place called Cheers Pizza.
They do an 18" pizza that is so unbelievably delicious, and only £9.99. I've ordered from them so much they know the house and my name just from what i put on my pizza

Wendy's!!! I like McDonald's fries a lot but I don't like their burgers. Burger King is just disgusting to me (I hate their fries most of all). Wendy's has the best burgers period and fries that are just as good as McDonald's. I do like Taco Bell a lot but I figured I'd vote one of the three!

I don't eat fast food much, but when I do, I go to Jimmy John's (smaller chain sandwich place)

Wendy's for the fries - I like 'em thick
They also used to have pita sandwiches that were kick ass. Fast food is hard for a vegetarian. Burger King actually HAS a veggieburger but it has an average flavor and is very salty. McDonald's is really bad for veggie people, so are Rally's and Checker's. bleh

Eating a salted herring out at Zandvoort is the litmus test my cousins and I all had to pass when we visited my uncle in order to prove we were Dutch. I was the only one who enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there's only one market I've found in OR that sells salted herring.

The rare and hard to find Arby-Q; Fast food's answer to a beef brisket or pulled pork sandwich. So far, the only Canadian location I've been able to find that sells it is in Oakville. Anywhere else and I just get a confused expression from the counter person for asking.
Also, Arby's makes restaurant quality Mozza-Sticks. Way better than Burger Kings limp excuse for fried cheese. Mmm; Fried Cheese!

Oh, I almost forgot about Costco's food court. Not exactly a drive-thru establishment, but fast service and super-cheap. I love being able to pay $1.50 for a hot dog and a soda. Sometimes we go to Costco just for a hot dog.

In North America I like Wendy's (and my Niece works for them in BC), but I can't quite _put my finger_ on why they failed in the UK.....
Anyway - I love my local independant burger chain (five stores, all food grilled to order). Plus the Chinese Take Away. And the Pizza joint. And the Indian. And the Fish and Chip shop. Well - I'm just a fat bastard really....

hmm...i've never heard of 'Togo's' or 'Baja Fresh.' We don't have any of those near Cleveland at all. Same with Hardee's and Carl JR's.
As for fav's places that we do have, I'd probably choose Wendy's, Arby's, or Subway. The Wendy's is pretty cool, since it was literally right across from my high school, and it was the only place off campus we were allowed to go to. Lines during the lunch periods were usually 30 minutes or so...No wonder it was the highest grossing wendy's in all of ohio, so I heard After reading fast-food nation, I cut back on my fast-food consumption, and only eat it about once a month or every two months. Since then, I haven't had a burger at mcdonald's either - although their sundaes and milkshakes [especially their 'shamrock' one] are tempting French fries ? I don't know if it's just me, then, but I honestly don't care for them. I rather eat a baked potato or hash brown patties instead. catcha back on the flipside, keyshawn

I wonder if what I had was salted, could be but I'm not sure since it didn't taste salty in the least, just very tender buttery smooth fresh herring, nothing on it but some chopped raw onion on the side. I had it almsot every day I was there but I like that kind of stuff. Last night for a light dinner snack since I had a big lunch, I had a pickled herring fillet in cream at a good local deli, along with lettuce, tomatoe, onion, olives; as much as I like that, it's nothing like the herring in the Netherlands. |

that picture of herring is so completely different from what I was thinking of. Here, we just buy them in a jar, similar to a pickle jar. They are usually pieces, or rolled up filets and floating in pickling juice with onions etc. We just fish (haha) them out and put them on a plate with sour cream to eat. I guess they are called rollmops because they are all rolled up if they are whole filets...
