Being a relative newbie, I was first attracted by the EZ but after visiting and looking at different forums I am hooked on other aspects of tfp. Thanks for opening eyes, mine as well as others....

I want to explain to people that I use the EZ to attract traffic for the specific purpose of converting people into quality contributors for the rest of the board. However, when the traffic becomes more detrimental to the site than it is beneficial, changes are made.

This thread makes me sick. Comments like and are totally uncalled for. Halx puts a huge amount of time into this community--it's not a porn warehouse. Additionally, real members of the forum contribute with advice, kind words, intelligent conversation; to say that "there's traffic only cos it's free" ignores all of this value.

These kinds of comments are completely short-sighted and unappreciative of the efforts of others.

I think taht most/all of the long time members who contribute to this board have basically said the same thing.

As has also been mentioned elsewhere, I also barely notice the EZ sections, I usually come for the discussions.

TFP isn't hosting those pics, it is just providing the links. Granted there are alot of links to pics and a lot of pages of links but the real bandwidth usage is of the image hosts and the poor suckers who host on their cable and DSL lines. TFP's problem is the serverload required to serve those 100 users at a time requesting all those pages. You put that many people in any forum, not just the EZ and you'll see the same problem. This was an effective method of solving the problem, I wish I could use it in some of the things I do.

its funny to see people get up in arms about something they havent paid for. i was headed to look at the new posts there when I discovered it was missing. just leaves more time to post in the other places.

The process:
EZ goes up, users come streaming in. A few hang around the other forums as well.

EZ goes down, mass outflux, hanging onto the few that wanted to contribute elsewhere.

Outflux continues, albeit slowly, because outside of the common thread of why folks come here, people would rather find the proper niche, not one guy's shot at a "catch-all" forum. A music forum for music, a politics forum for politics, etc. Folks set in their ways or friendly with folks they've met stay in the core. Everyone else melts off.

Add to the core again by reinstating the EZ.

Rinse repeat.

Clarifying: people that come just for the porn aren't just drooling sex fiends. But I'd rather talk about music with people who have common interests (i.e., on other boards), etc etc, not random folks who have nothing in common with me but an appreciation of porn.

I do admit that cars and engines are best discussed in their respective forums, but I think to be able to ask things like sexual advice, etc is invaluable here, as its unlikely that I'll go to the energy dynamics forum and ask how to get my girlfriend off.

there were alot of people being shitheads about the removal of the zone, which isnt right, especially since most are newbs who havent donated yet (like me) and havent really contributed much of anything to the forum.
I dont think that halx will ever whine and beg for people to come back to the E Zone.
halx doesnt rely on advertisement hits to fund this site, so all a large influx of visitors that arent contributing does nothing but take up space.

It's sorta amusing how people like to play the part of the young farmer boy in the prologue of the story where his family gets slaughtered by the dark evil warlord and he swears that one day, justice will be served. In my ideal website, intelligent words in a discussion are FAR more important than one more user viewing the forums at any given time.

I all ready run a website where hits matter. I also get paid a living wage for it. I don't get paid shit for this site, so you gotta figure that it better damn well fit MY ideal than YOURS. Fortunately, I've managed to find thousands of people who enjoy my ideal. Go figure.

Please stop complaining, the lack of comprehension is getting silly.

A third donation is forthcoming. It won't take care of the whole financial problem, of course. But if everyone who visits even occasionally sent, oh, say, $5 cash to the address that I intend to send my check to, wouldn't that make a big difference?
There always will be people who truly cannot afford to send any money. That's a given. But is it possible that some don't donate because they don't want to do the PayPal route, don't want to write a check, and have no confidence that this would be a rare exception to the well-regarded (and justifiably so) rule to not send cash in the mail?
You've done a good job -- no, make that outstanding, and I'm not just trying to get on your good side -- with this site since the first time I stumbled across it. The depth and breadth of the site far exceeds what was there just, what, just two years ago? At that time, the Titty Board had few companions on this site, and though the content was very good, the quality of the responses was ... abysmal. "I'd hit it," was, apparently, considered great prose by way too many, uh, contributors. We're way past that, and what a relief.
I have no idea what any of your expenses are, and I'm not asking. But again, it seems plausible that if a healthy fraction of your frequent users contributed something, the financial outlook would improve considerably. That's not the only issue here, I realize. Participation in other forums than the TB is what you're seeking, and that's a darn worthy goal.
Making sure that everyone knows how to donate, and precisely what those methods are, is something to consider. Yes, we've been told before, but some things bear repeating.

This post made me realize it's been a month since I've looked at the Titty Board. I've mostly been using passes I got from the links board and just use the TFP for non-pr0n discussions. I commend Halx for the fine site and applaud his patience with the moochers.

I have been a member for about a month now and this is my first post. I guess I just like reading what other people post more than putting my 2 cents into a discussion but I figured I'll have to start somewhere. I guess by reading some of the posts that I get one question from them, For some all they do is come for the adult forums, what guarantee do they have that if they donate, the boards that where taken away will return? If all I was here for was the link board or the titty board, why would I donate? Because you said they MIGHT come back? The boards they come to see are gone. Threatening to take the boards away probably would have gotten you more donations than telling people who have to trust someone who just took them away, that they will be back(?) See where I'm going with this. I am not trying to tell anyone what they should do witht their site but think about it. You attract more bees with honey than you do with vinager(sp?) If you had warned people before just pulling the plug you might have gotten more donations and you wouldn't have to describe yourself as the evil warlord. Well that was my 2 cents, take it as you please.

Another idea is: If you truly want to get rid of the moochers just give them links to other adult forums to go to. Put it into it's own thread and people could post links to other forums. Just an idea.

so i am glad to see the EZ go because over the last few days i have noticed the traffic is lighter!

*sigh* in case you missed it several people have mentioned that the board is still open to contibutors.. you contribute via discussion then you get your beloved tits back. It's all in the tfp charter. Just like when I first came.. way before the 2nd crash you had to earn your right to view the EZ.. it's like that again now. Quite frankly, I'm glad it's like that. It gave me an opportunity to get involved in the rest of the forum before I even thought about checking the TB. Go to the tilted newbies section read the sticky that Halx has up and you'll see how to advance and such. If you don't want to do that then simply scroll up in this thread and read the 3rd page (think that's right) and you'll see a direct copy of the third section of the charter that talks about advancement.

I still don't understand why people aren't getting this. It isn't about the numbers. I don't want to speak for Hal, but as I understand it, he'd rather have a handful of quality users than hundreds of leeches. The fact that the EZ had hundreds of people visiting it does not mean that it is the core of the site.

Contributors understand this. Why is it that the people that are bitching are people that I've never heard of before?

just wanted to say that i adore this site with or without the porn (altho i will miss that soooooooooooooo much). theres a ton of really cool stuff on here and i appreciate all teh hard work that goes into it. i'm still confused about this tho..is the adult zone still up but only for donators? that doesnt make sense because most of teh people posting the great stuff on there werent donating money (altho they were donating time and effortputting pics and links). i don't even have a credit card to donate with altho i'm working on that. what exactly do you have to do to get that back? could it only be the links section? all joking aside that was one of teh reasons that this forum was differnt then others. anyway thanks for all teh hard work you guys put into it

This is a porn site. 80% of its visitors come here looking for porn. Obviously alot of you dont understand that. Yes it has other sections, which ii'm sure are great. But if you dont want it to be a porn site than get rid of the porn permenantly. If you need porn to convicne people to come here than theres obviously a problem. Either keep this a free porn site as it was before, or keep it a forum only. I find it absolutly ridiculous that people here don't realize what it really is.

I suspect I'll be a "rookie" pretty much forever on this board. I'm just not one to speak volumes about stuff I don't know about. And it doesn't bother me a bit. But I do hope that I am not considered this boards "lower class" because I don't have a decent avatar.
