First UFO experience
I was recently on vacation with my wife in northern Wisconsin. Everynight we had a campfire down on the beach of my grandparents lake they live on. What we love about up there is that there is no light pollution, allowing you to see an unbelievable amount of stars. The milky way is clearly visible as well as dozens of satelites. As you look up, there is ALWAYS something moving. After observing a few shooting stars and about a dozen satelites, something else streaked across the sky. The object appeared very small, my guess is that it was extremely high up (much higher than any airplane - I'm guess satellite height). The object blinked at a rate of about once every 1/2 second. It streaked across the sky from our right for about 4 blinks, changed directions 90 DEGREES right for 3 blinks and changed direction again 90 DEGREES left and continued out of sight across the sky. Now, I saw dozens of objects in the sky that night that I did not assume were UFO's, but someone please tell me what extremely high flying object can move at speeds that fast and change direction so quickly and dramatically.
It was such an amazing experience for us. Not scary in the least. We felt lucky to have witnessed something some will never. It was almost comforting. I believe. |

Wow. Sounds like something not of this world. I know of nothing that can move like that. I hope other posters can think of something that could fly like that. Definetly a UFO.

I sort of believe. About a year and a half ago my ex and I were laying on his bed and I saw a really bright light up in the sky. We got up to check it out and it looked a bit brighter than the stars. Didn't think anything of it really. Later on I was laying in the exact same spot and didn't see the bright dot. So I got up and it had moved a considerable distance up to the right. We both starred at it and it started slowly moving straight down. All of a sudden, it shot off to the left and was gone from sight in about 5 seconds.
We didn't really know what to think. It kind of creeped me out because I had never believed aliens existed. But now I after seeing what I saw and reading your experience I believe there is something out there.

hmmm... well it's a UfO in the sense that it was a flying object that you could't identify, but I doubt very much it's Aliens
Zorg: we have crossed galaxies to be here, using our technologies we can fly over this planet 'earth' without detection from their most advanded radar equipment, Zang - did you turn off the blinking light? Zang: ah |

In all fairness d*d, if you are going to "very much doubt" something...I think it's only fair that you provide us with something "it is very likely" to be. I'm not being critical, but I'm very interested in what people think it might be, any explanation. And I'm not saying myself that I'm 100% sure it was aliens, but it was definately unusual.
All I can say is that on that evening, I've never felt smaller in this world. |

Two satellites crossing each other's orbits? As the westbound satellite crossed in front of the northbound satellite, it eclipsed the light you'd see from the westbound satellite. Nothing says it has to be one object? It could be 4 objects, acting independently.. but only visible in that section of the sky where ozone/atmosphere isn't obfuscating your view.

Thats thinking outside the box. I would believe that as a possibility but the object kept the same blinking rhythm the whole time. If it was solid light, your explanation would be very plausible. But 3 or 4 objects in rhythm would be a stretch.
What really started blowing my mind was what if the object never changed directions, but actually maintained a straight path. Perhaps the the light was bending on planes of space and we were seeing a reflection of light bending in space. |

Light doesn't bend in space like that. It could have been two planes travelling perpendicular to each other, when they crossed their paths it just appeared as if one thing quickly changed direction. it may have been a trick of the light a reflection on a cloud or a lazer show. As plausibility goes it is very doubtful it was a flying saucer

Wisconsin is far from the most densely populated area in the country, it's entirely possible that a military airbase in the region was playing with a new toy. If I were a test pilot, I would enjoy flying where I could just barely be seen and mystifying civilians.
It's not mysterious, but the coolest airborne object I've seen was (on the evening Gulf War II started,) I was out walking and a F-117 Stealth Fighter was passing overhead low enough that I could see the tail markings as it banked to turn. I estimated at the time that it was only about 800 feet above the ground (the ground is ~60 above sea level.) |

I live in Northern Wisconsin, and even in the city you can see a lot on clear nights.
We don't have any serious air bases nearby, and the only one that I can think of that is publically active is Ft McCoy. I've seen some interesting stuff around here, but in some cases I was 'influenced', so my testimonies hold little water.

What you saw was light from venus refracting off swamp gas collected in the atmosphere ionized by solar winds directed by the earth's magnetic field. Now go whack off to the titty board.

I had a similar experience about a month back. I was out at Okanagan lake in British Columbia and there is very little light polution out there. Anyways there was about 8 of us all lying on the beach looking up at the stars. There was a fair share of satelites and shooting stars. Then there was what apeared to be a very bright light moving across the sky, the farther it moved the brighter it got, then it flashed very very bright, it probably became half the size of a full moon. Then it sped up to a frighteningly fast pace and shrunk considerable in size (such as an object moving farther away). Then it disapeared after it was about half way across the sky. Right at the moment it disapeared 2 objects that looked to be about the size in the sky as satelites (one bright red, the other normal bluish white color) took off from the area where the other dot disapeared. These 2 things that apeared flew across the entire sky in about 3/4ths of a second.
Anyways it was pretty crazy, we all were in disbelief for about a minute, then we were amazed that we saw such a thing. And sure maybe if it was 1 or 2 of us it could have just been an active imagination, but as I said, there were about 8 of us. |

quite likely... it would be quite incredible for a large craft (according to you it would have to be very large) which was moving that fast to change direction so fast (momentum). the angle and distance could have played to it, in either way (to it being a ufo, or against)

The steady blinking lights you sometimes see (moving in a straight line) are satellites rotating and reflecting light back. They spin some satellites to keep them stable and aligned properly. Some satellites spin slow, and some spin fast. If a shiny surface catches the light right it would probably look like a bright flashing light.
I've seen some weird stuff myself, but as much as my imagination can create something extraordinary out of it, there is an equally plausible but most boring explanation for the phenomenon. |

Let me tell you about MY first UFO experience...
For whatever reason, I was looking outside one night through my sliding glass doors. I caught a glowing disk in the southern sky.. hovering.. glowing, bobbing about. I called over other people to look at it, they too were shocked. We had no idea what it was.. (the lights inside were turned off at the time). It was still there 15 minutes later. Then at some point I realized that there was a glowing light on an object in the room we didn't notice. I can't remember what it was at the moment.. my first thought was the PS2 standby light, but the floating disc was pretty large, so it couldn't have been that.. maybe a photo printer. Anyway.. It was fun while it lasted.
