I had a similar experience about a month back. I was out at Okanagan lake in British Columbia and there is very little light polution out there. Anyways there was about 8 of us all lying on the beach looking up at the stars. There was a fair share of satelites and shooting stars. Then there was what apeared to be a very bright light moving across the sky, the farther it moved the brighter it got, then it flashed very very bright, it probably became half the size of a full moon. Then it sped up to a frighteningly fast pace and shrunk considerable in size (such as an object moving farther away). Then it disapeared after it was about half way across the sky. Right at the moment it disapeared 2 objects that looked to be about the size in the sky as satelites (one bright red, the other normal bluish white color) took off from the area where the other dot disapeared. These 2 things that apeared flew across the entire sky in about 3/4ths of a second.
Anyways it was pretty crazy, we all were in disbelief for about a minute, then we were amazed that we saw such a thing. And sure maybe if it was 1 or 2 of us it could have just been an active imagination, but as I said, there were about 8 of us.
