Thanks GOT, and just for Hawkeye's sake, the name of the song was "Video killed the radio star" , and I'm ready to kill this computer! My recent absense is much attributed to this thing. I have DSL and it's acting like dial up. Gotta get it to a technician after christmas, but it's like number 10 on my priority list. Need new tires on the truck- rear end is going also, etc. etc. etc.
As for the faith no more question- I have no idea.

Harry Cox 12-05-2004 07:13 AM

The answer to the Mike Patton question:
Fantomas
Mr. Bungle
Tomahawk

I have no idea about the NIN question, but here is my new question:
The Ace Frehley-led KISS song "2000 Man" is a cover song originally written and recorded by what legendary band?

alarment13 12-05-2004 09:22 AM

the answer to the NIN question is the horrible song and video for "deep" (and i love NIN so that shows how bad it really was).

dont know who the director was though

LoganSnake 12-05-2004 09:28 AM

Very nice Harry.

EDIT: Wasn't it The Rolling Stones?

Don't mean to step in, but yes it was. What I'm not sure of is what Rolling Stone album it was on, because I'm not a Stones fan.

LoganSnake 12-05-2004 05:09 PM

Alright then, since I'm right, here's my question.

'Set The World Afire' (by Megadeth) begins with a fragment of a song by what band/artist?

LoganSnake 12-07-2004 04:48 PM

Nobody?

God of Thunder 12-07-2004 05:01 PM

Looks like ya stumped us!

LoganSnake 12-07-2004 06:07 PM

Hmm, maybe I should post an answer then. My friend went to the Megadeth concert a few weeks ago and got to meet Dave Mustaine. He asked him what that old song was at the begining of Set The World Afire. Dave told him that it's a song from a 1930's band called The Ink Spots. Seeing how the words came directly from Dave Mustaine, I doubted that this information could be found on the web and decided to see if anybody would know. Alright, whoever wants to be next, please go ahead.

Sion 12-08-2004 11:42 AM

I could be wrong, but I "think" The Ink Spots were from the 50's. But dont quote me on that.

meanwhile, I'll toss out a relatively easy one:

name the band the performs the theme song on The Sopranos.

Is was indeed the Stones. I think it's on "On Her Satanic Majesty's Request" or whatever that album is called. I don't think there was any hits on that one and I like the KISS version much better.

Sion 12-09-2004 12:23 PM

ok, apparently we have no Sopranos fans here, so I'll give the answer and ask another.

A3 (or Alabama 3) performs the Sopranos theme song.

meanwhile, try to identify this song snippet:

"The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth."

Led Zeppelin, "Achilles Last Stand"

Ok, I'll stick with lyrics.....

Identify song and artist:

"Written on the runes
the many tales of men of old
ancient kings who ruled the land
a thousand years ago"

God of Thunder 12-13-2004 10:14 AM

Looks like it was a stumper, Bryndian_Dhai

I am going to break the rules and ask a question of my own :p

In Meatloaf's classic song "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", who is the female lead and what TV show did she later (briefly) star in?

Sion 12-13-2004 12:17 PM

Bryn's was a song called "Valhalla" by Pantera

(yes, I googled it)

Yup, that's right. I picked it because of the recent murder of Dimebag Darrell.

God of Thunder 12-14-2004 05:44 AM

Hint time?

OK the TV show she starred in was on NBC. She was only in the first season.

She has several albums of her own, though I doubt anyone has heard of them. She was also tied romantically to Mick Jones of The Clash for awhile.

There, that ought to confuse you. I can hear Google cranking up their servers now. ;)

Fly 12-14-2004 06:34 AM

ellen foley.........three girls three?

i know i got the name right ,but am lost on the show.

Yes you did. She played attorney Billie Young on the first season of Night Court.
She was replaced by someone who was replaced by Markie Post as Christine Sullivan.

Fly 12-14-2004 09:09 AM

thanx GOT.........you can have the next Q.......i'm drawing a blank today.

God of Thunder 12-14-2004 11:25 AM

Ok, lets stick with TV for $200 Alex.

What band did the musician who wrote and sang the theme from "Welcome Back Kotter" come from?

The musician is John Sebastian, but I'm not sure what band he was in.

God of Thunder 12-14-2004 05:09 PM

Yes it was John Sebastian, but let's see who knows what band he came from.

shadowalker 12-14-2004 05:12 PM

John Sebastion was in the Lovin' Spoonfuls

God of Thunder 12-14-2004 05:31 PM

We have a winner.

Sorry Harry, I did ask for the band.

SpoonfulS? as in plural?

Harry Cox 12-14-2004 07:35 PM

OK, I didn't have the complete answer. But what is the new question?

God of Thunder 12-19-2004 09:02 AM

OK, kickstart again.

Name the british band that took their name from a character in a Jane Fonda sci-fi flick.

Should be easy enough

Sion 12-19-2004 10:33 AM

Duran Duran

what libidinous frontman once quipped: "Hey, Im a family man. I've personally started 3 or 4 families this year alone."?

Booray 12-19-2004 10:42 AM

Mick Jagger?

Sion 12-19-2004 01:47 PM

a good guess, but not correct. sorry

Booray 12-19-2004 02:30 PM

one more guess: David Lee Roth?

Harry Cox 12-19-2004 04:37 PM

Steven Tyler?

Booray 12-20-2004 05:07 AM

I win?!

That was almost my first guess, but then Jagger popped into my mind.

I can't think of a question, so whoever wants to ask one, go ahead.

Harry Cox 12-20-2004 04:25 PM

Ok, I'll offer up the next question:

What rocker was born Vincent Furnier, son of a minister?

wolf 12-20-2004 05:59 PM

Vince Neil?
