The Highwaymen:
Johnny Cash Waylon Jennings Willie Nelson Kris Kristofferson |
correct. either you or Sion can throw out the next question. Doesn't matter to me. Whatever keeps the game going.
|
Ok...
What are the real names of the four members of the band KISS? |
I'll answer if no one else chimes in. Kind of a gimme for me.
|
Quote:
have no clue myself |
I'll give some clues.
I'm assuming the original intent of the question was to name the original four. I'll provide the names of ALL members of KISS. The originals: Gene Simmons - Vocals/Bass Paul Stanley - Vocals/guitar Ace Frehley - Guitar Peter Criss - Drums The replacements: Vinnie Vincent - Guitar Mark St. John - Guitar Bruce Kulick - Guitar Tommy Thayer - Guitar Eric Carr - Drums Eric Singer - Drums Out of all of them, only two never changed their name. edit: unofficially, Bob Kulick contributed on Guitar and Anton Figg contibuted on Drums on different albums. Just in case someone wanted to call me on that one. :p |
Doh..... I coulda answered that one! Figure's the almighty G.O.T. chimed in first!
Do we have a new question on the board oh thunderous one? |
Actually I didn't answer the question. He asked for their real names. I provided their stage names and gave a hint.
The question is still open. I like giving everyone a sporting chance. If, when I get home from work, the question still has not been answered, I will drop some knowledge on ya. I have a pretty good question on deck, just in case. |
The originals:
Gene Simmons - real name: Gene Klein Paul Stanley - real name: Stanley Eisen Ace Frehley - real name: Paul Frehley Peter Criss - real name: Peter Crisscoula The replacements: Vinnie Vincent - Guitar Mark St. John - Guitar Bruce Kulick - Guitar Tommy Thayer - Guitar Eric Carr - Drums Eric Singer - Drums ->Im sure at least a couple of the replacements are using stage names, but I dont know what their real names are, nor do I much care Quote:
I knew that. |
next question: after Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen (the first time) he was still contractually obligated to his former label for one more album (a pretty good one as it turned out). Eddie VH helped out on the album in what capacity?
|
He was the producer.
|
Eddie also played bass on several tracks.
Sion has the KISS question right, but just be to a geek, I will provide the rest of the info. Vinnie Vincent - Vincent Cusano Mark St. John - Mark Norton Bruce Kulick - didn't change Tommy Thayer - didn't change Eric Carr - Paul Caravello (Changed his first name because there already was a Paul in the band) Eric Singer - Eric Mensinger And to be additionally geeky, Gene was born Chaim Witz in Isreal and changed it to Gene Klein we he moved to New York as a kid. But, only a true KISS fanatic as myself generally knows that. |
I knew the stage names for the original four, but that's about it.

Ok.... so much info on KISS...I feel I'm being drafted into the KISS Army.
My question: Very easy, HP has a terrific commercial out using the beautiful song Picture Book, who sings that song? |

You say Anton Figg did some drumming for KISS? THE ANTON FIGG????? from David Letterman??? Wow, I thought he just like backed up Paul Schaeffer.
Speaking of Paul, I always thought he was geeky as he'd like sit there playing his k/b with the visiting band. I never realized how that man truly has been around, I just thought he was some goof. Sorry o/t. |
pan, check out Anton's credits on AMG. You'll find he has played with some top notch talent (and is one himself) in his time. Same goes for most of the current and former members of Lettermans band.
|
Yeah, actually Paul was slated to perform with the original Blues Brothers, but his contract prevented it.
|
Yes, THE Anton Figg. He played, uncredited, on the "Unmasked" album. Peter had left the group, but they were still trying to get him back. Anton sat in on the studio sessions, but he was unable to tour because of his contract with NBC.
Wtihout a touring drummer, KISS were not able to promote "Unmasked", leading to it's demise. They held auditions and selected Eric Carr, who toured with them briefly in Europe. Eric's first album was "Music From the Elder" |

What was the name of the group? |
Van, good catch on the trick question.
Very underrated group. HP picked a great song and did the ad with class. |

On another note.... and feel free to reply personally if you don't want to clutter up the thread with more KISS stuff, lol.... did you hear about what Gene did at a recent KISS Con? My hubby feels incredibly betrayed by the utter greed and viciousness of Gene's action and personal involvement in the raid. I was curious how you feel about it.... Bryn |
ooh, do tell....

Okay, as I understand it, Gene Simmons recently came into a KISS Con, leading Federal agents, looking for bootleggers....
They overturned booths, confiscated materials, and generally muscled their way through the Con.... a sanctioned function, attended by fans and vendors with licensed merchandise for sale/trade. The general tenor of the guy who related the story, who was presumably present, was that Gene was balls-to-the-wall... a real asshole to the people there, flinging products around, demolishing booths, pushing people around. It's not about the fans anymore... it's about how much money Gene can make off them. He's always been pretty mercenary, merchandising anything remotely KISS that he can get his hands on... but this time he's (at least in my estimation) really crossed the line. *shrugs* I know there's more details that I'm missing, but remember.... I'm not the fan here, lol, I'm hearing about it from my hubby, who read it on one of the fansites. Bryn |
i know a guy that roadied several tours for Kiss and yeah itīs true. actually Simmons is much worse than that. Seems there was a major scene over a missing 25$ room service chit which resulted in two long time employees getting canned in the middle of tour. Counts absolutely every penny. I imagine thats because itīs all that he pays Ace and Peter. Pennys.
but they still rock. |
Was gone for the weekend, that's why I didn't respond.
Gene & Paul both have been known to attend conventions to look for bootlegs. I actually don't blame them too much. Bootlegs cost the band a lot of money, but worse, they rip off the fans. People come to these looking for genuine items and end up getting ripped off with fake merchandise. Sure there is a better way for the group to combat this, but Gene is very protective of the KISS trademark. Since there is no current question active, that I can tell, I bring you this... Duran Duran's first album was re-released in the US in the early 80's with what new song? |
Man... I leave for the weekend and all KISS hell breaks loose! Seems like my partner GOT is trying to recruit ya'll into his KISS army! (jes kiddin GOT)! No clue on the Duran Duran question!
|

Actually I didn't even start it. Man, I get blamed for everything. :D |
Hell, if someone were to bootleg my material, I think I might have a few warrants out for my arrest after what I'd do to them.
|
Looks like the early 80s new wave is stumper material.
[evin laugh]muah ha ha ha ha[/evin laugh] Duran Duran re-released their first album in the US with the hit single "Please Please Tell Me Now" on it. I throw the next question out to the masses. It looks like I have a busy day ahead of me and won't be able to check in much. |
new question:
"Seagull you fly across the horizon, Into the misty morning sun." who wrote/sang it? |
Bad Company - Seagull
New question - The author of the book "We Caught You Plotting Murder" is also a member of a hard rock group. What is his name? |
Andrew Schwab, who's in the band Project 86, wrote We Caught You Plotting Murder
Ummm, ok... While Marilyn Manson was on tour in Sydney, Australia, something unusual happened to him.... What happened, and what did it cause him to do? |
Good job, I didn't know if anybody listened them or not...
|
*grins* I like a lot of different stuff. Usually, odd and/or not so well known stuff.
