downed Vael, Broodlord Lashlayer, and Firemaw in BWL for the first time ever.
Was very cool... long but cool.

Never got to attempt Nef, damn guild drama
Haven't raided much since the last patch so I don't know how they nerfed mages. Do you have points in burning soul or frost channeling?

Mages actually got buffed in terms of their ability to output damage. What really got nerfed was rage generation, which makes front end aggro much touchier on most boss fights, and, I suppose, aggro in general much touchier.
Nef is easy, that's about all there is to it. The tough part of the fight is knowing how to tank/dps/control the drakonids. There are more than enough strategies out there now that it's not much of a hurdle for most guilds to learn in a few passes and take him down. Vael and Razor are by far the hardest parts of BWL. Once they're on farm status, the rest of the zone is pretty much a loot pinata. I'm getting the horrifying feeling that I'm going to go into xpac with 7/9 tier 3, unless the xpac gets pushed back. I'm lacking legs and won't really be able to play again until sometime in mid January. And I can all but guarantee we won't be running the zone after BC hits. That would suck. Oh well, so it goes. |

Yeah the only hard parts of BWL are Razorgore, Vael, and Nef phase 1. Chromaggus is easy as hell as soon as everyone "gets" the line of sight strategy. Our guild was infamous for getting time lapse almost every single time we fought Chromaggus...we actually had an easier time with time lapse than any other type.
Nef Phase 1 is easy using the old Battle Shout method, but now that it's nerfed you have to go back to the fight seperately at the hall entrance strategy. Our guild never perfected it. We killed Nef about 10 times using that method, maybe more, but the first 5 or so kills were after multiple wipes in phase 1. Sometimes the warriors can hold aggro well at the hall entrance, sometimes not. It's really irregular. Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Nef is a joke as long as you have a decurser on the MT.

Too much damage?
For months I wasn't able to pull aggro even if I wanted to while still ruling the damage meters. It was really kinda sad. But that's what happens when you get threat reduction talents, have a good tank, and wait for the tank to build a little threat. Then I went into Molten Core with one of the higher guilds on the server because I was bored one night after the patch and pulled aggro. Granted a 41/0/10 spec isn't a great raid spec, and getting back to back 3k+ crits pulls aggro pretty quick, the fact I didn't put any points into any PvE talents basically screwed myself in that regard. If fire mages are pulling aggro now, I have no idea why, the nerf to ignite halfway ruined the talent. How are multiple crits in a row worthwhile when any ignite past the first in the next 4 seconds is ignored?

I don't get it. Is your MT not protection? I'm fury, which is slightly better than arms with aggro, and I can hold aggro off an entire tier3 raid bearing down on my mob mere seconds after I pick it up. This includes about 4-5 fire mages.

Are mage rule the damage meter, but lately we do to much and half to back off...I miss the top 5 or 6 being all mages....now the rogues and locks own the meter
Are top 4 tanks are all proct spec and we still pull. I pulled Ebonroc the other night and I didn't even do any damage to him I was standing waiting for the sunders. |

Tell them to use revenge and shield slam. If they are just using sunder and devastate, that may be their problem.
However I am still not sure how...

yeah, my guild made it all the way to huhu in aq40 before I stopped playing, and we only had 1 prot spec tank, and half the time he didn't play. Bottom line is, 10% damage reduction in def stance applies no matter your spec, as does +def skill from proper gear.
Itemization > spec when it comes to tanking, and, warriors are given an adequate skillset to work with by default. Everything else is merely a tool to help them do it a little better if they are having trouble with thier itemization. |

Using the sunder armor + heroic strike macro can pretty much guarantee you'll never lose aggro in a normal fight, even though on some fights you still have to be careful (Vael, Broodlord, ALL of the drakes in BWL).
I specced Prot just so my guild would let me MT the twin emps. First night I tried it we beat them for the first time. Skill > spec (we had double prot warriors tanking twin emps for about 50 wipes before I tried it, completely unsuccessfully).

ARRGGHHH,
My WoW account got hacked this morning. Full T2, Lok'Amir, the complete BWL collection for priests, as well as 850G and a similar value in enchanting supplies. I've opened a ticket, talked to a GM, and they are looking into it. Anyone have any experience negotiating with them? For what it's worth, Firefox, spybot, spywareblaster, adaware, ZoneAlarm security suite and windows are all updated. I've identified every process running and don't see anything I don't expect. |

Man, people getting hacked left and right. Blizzard really needs to step up and do something. I honestly wouldn't mind an extra step in the login process if it meant better security, but right now its fucking ridiculous. 5 people in my guild have gotten hacked in the last 2 months.

Changing your PW doesn't do you much good if they have a keylogger on your system. Update all your scanning software and run it regularly. Unless you're ABSOLUTELY sure where a link on the blizzard boards is sending you, don't click it. And, you know, even if you are absolutely sure, maybe you shouldn't click it anyway. I got a keylogger from the boards (though fortunately I caught it before I'd logged in) and I haven't clicked much since.
I'd recommend getting Spybot, because of it's delightful immunization feature. Instead of just notifying you when you catch something and removing it, spybot actually blocks all known threats from functioning even if it gets on your system. Far from perfect, but it's definitely one of the best features I've seen on a spyware scanner. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and change your pw, too. |

That axe is insane, if those stats are indeed real I would assume that it must take a fuckton of time and effort to obtain it.

I wouldn't say the axe is fake 100%. It does indeed seem fake, but if you look at other confirmed BC loot, it's not that absurd (level 70 epic 2-handers having 550+ max damage). I'm 50/50. I won't believe either way until there's proof.

It's really depressing at what BC is doing to the guilds of WoW. My guild has about 60 core raiders with full tier 1 and most of tier 2 (most of us had full tier 2). We even had a few with many pieces of tier 2.5. We were up to C'Thun in AQ 40. Then when the BC loots were released and people started getting invited to closed beta for BC, everyone stopped raiding. Our guild hasn't did a single raid since October.
Now, out of around 100+ guild members that played regularly, we have like 20. Maybe. EVERYONE has quit the game. I wonder if BC will be strong enough to bring all of the people back that have quit. I'll definitely be back as long as my friends and brother are playing, but it's just weird to see players like our guild leader, class officers, people who have been in the guild for TWO YEARS simply quit because of boredom or RL reasons with 40+ epics on their main. Like I said, BC better kick some serious ass or I think Blizzard might be losing a large chunk of its player base.

I quit for the sole purpose of getting the expansion. Really, that money saved - free expansion, and why waste more time getting gear and farming instances. I like killing stuff once, but beyond that, i'm just kinda like "yawn"
yeah the gear is nice, but like I said, no point farming it at this point. |

Anyone have a download link for the patch?
Blizzard sucks an ass for making it insanely difficult to get the freakin thing. BT sucks. Too many leechers, not enough seeders, takes well over an hour for me. Those 3rd party sites make you register. Bleh. There's gotta be a solid spot somewhere to download it from!
