D&D

I have a level three Lawful Evil Cleric (male) named Circa Siren that is currently studying to be a monk and has Storytelling as his craft. Here is his back-story:

The youngest of three children, Circa never got much attention from his pauper family. He grew up resenting his family who all had their own lives and problems once he came along. His mother, after having her first two children, had a few miscarraiges and two children (age one and three) who died of a disease that swept through their village. THeir deaths scarred her emotionally so when Circa was born she neglected to care for him properly and spent no time with him, as did the rest of his family.

Early in his childhood, Circa's older siblings left the village to find jobs in villages with more resources (like a blacksmith and an inn).

At the age of ten, Circa would leave his house during the day to wander around the village and the surrounding forrest out of boredom and looking for companionship. One day, he had been following the river in the forest when he came upon a large mountain of rocls. Pretending to be a great explorer, like the ones he had heard stories of in the village, he climbed the rocks and got a little off course. Eventually he wandered into a cave... deep into the cave (he was curious!) that's walls were lined with flaming torches. He snuck into the initiation ceremony of a dark religious sect. He came back everyday for a week and obsereved powerful happenings. A few of the members, including the hooded man who seemed to be the leader, lived in his village.

Circa went to talk to the leader, got himself initiated, and eventually became the leader's apprentice.

At the age of 16 Circa ran away from home tired of being anobody to his family when he was so powerful in his secret religious group. He informed the group of his plans to go out into the world, make a name for himself, and bring many followers to his supreme god (which I haven't decided on yet).

Circa would prove his worht to his useless family and get attention and gratitude from the masses.

little notes:
*a little concieted
*attention seeking
*willing to do anything to get what he wants
*seeks out weak personalities to control
*manipulative
*projects a non-evil image

Does anyone else have any characters they would like to share? I am interested to know of others since this is only my first (for D&D).

Me and my friend tried to get into it, he bought the basic books and such for it. We tried to play a few games with some of our other friends, but they just couldn't get into it and pretty much just goofed off.

No one else around here to play with us, and 2 people games just don't seem to work. So we basically had to give up on the idea sadly.

In all the years Ive played we have never had an evil character last longer than a few weeks in a group. Less if the entire group is evil. After a few dozen characters you quit making up backgrounds and just have good stories from your adventures.

I tend to like the good guys when I get the rare chance to play (I'm the only consistent GM for my group). Well, I run good characters in D&D, other genres call for other choices.

Evil characters can work, so long as they're smart and realize that the party's goal needs to be supported, even if only for metagame reasons.

It seems like a fair background. I certainly wouldn't have problems with it as a GM.

Here's one I've played recently.

Pathfinder:
Witchdoctor (6/6 Cleric/Sorcerer)
Wemic (think of a Centaur, but half-lion instead of half-horse)

Prince of the tribe on the plains near the lake.
His father is a Warrior King, his mother is the tribal Shaman.
Obviously he's taken more after his mother than father,
not physical like most in his tribe, he's grown more into the Diplomat role.

He's formal and wise, calm & collected, sometimes a bit arrogant.
knows how use his presense & powers to their best.
His clerical focus is more toward animals & plants since that's where he grew.
His sorcerer's focus tends to reflect more natural or defensive magics.

His tribe's natural enemies are Gnolls (Hyena vs. Lion)
And does diplomacy & trade missions for his tribe.

Currently, he's been drawn into a adventure to investigate what is disrupting the spice trade routes
between his tribal nation & a queendom far away.
He hasn't spent that much time in "human" civilization.
The permanent buildings are strange to him, since his is nomadic.
And his size & looks are intimidating to others.
But his natural leadership & common sense have brought him to the fore
as the decision maker for the strange group he's been thrown in with.
(Himself, a Half-dragon Wizard, a Druid/rogue, a Psionicist, a Rogue/sage, & a Minotaur Warrior)
They are to investigate & resolve this matter.

Wemic? *choke*

Sorry, one of the more infamous power-gamers in the local community used to have a thing for wemics. I can't even use 'em as bad guys as a result =P

lol lets see...

in our 14 year old Forgotten Realms campaign
A grey elf cleric of Mystry called

Greystar Asrule Dayspring
lvl 18 cleric (dweomerkeeper)
As most would know elves tend to worship the gods of elves.. Not the Dayspring family.. seems that to coexist with the other gods.. one elven family was chosen to worship the goddess of magic shortly after the old Mystrul cut off High Magic. This let the elves of Evermeet keep the use of Elven High Magic.

In this the Dayspring family was prevented from every living on the isle of Evermeet. They have a honorary holding there to spend several days or months if needed but not permanent.

Our campaign is based on around a lich.. but not an ordinary undead mage lich. This one is nasty.. he was a chosen of mystra and around the time when Netheral fell.. he used several High Elven mages to cast a mythical .. but unlike Myth Drannor this was currupted to make a Dark Mythical. Using Shar's Shadow Weave he created a mythical that blocked out Mystra's power. One of the elves was a great great uncle of Greystars.

This undead mage is responsible for the deaths of millions and the sole cause of our groups goal..

we play table top and with miniatures.. but we hardly have a battle.. we roleplay mostly..

My other char of long standings..

Tenere de Cardiff
7th lvl fighter/16th lvl Transmuter
Chatoic Neutral

Tenere was a noble taken at an early age to become a slave to the Red Wizards of Thay. His aptitude for magic was what singled him out.. His country was put in to slavery and most were slaughtered from fear. Mystra (yet again forgotten realms) his his magical spark, stating to him that to become a wizard.. he needed to learn that spells alone couldn't save him. So he took up the bastard sword and changed his name to Costorf. For several years he mastered the bastard sword.. and after killing the Red Wizard that enslaved him he set out for Myth Drannor and Shadowdale.. (btw Tenere is black.. )

He became a specialist mage in Alteration magic, a transmuter. Thus his destiny began. He learned quickly. after a battle with the famous Elminster and Blackstaff. He learned he was a chosen of Mystra. He then changed his name back to his noble title of Tenere de Cardiff, then opened a can of whoop ass on Thay freeing his people and makeing a name for himself.

his achivements..
killing an army.. they had a black dragon as a tank.. Tenere cast poly other and the dragon failed his spell resistance and save.. changed into a kitten and snapped its neck.. moral check.. the army was broken.. mop up time.. got back to the king and he says.. "reward.. your reward was serving the king." btw being Chatoic Neutral.. Tenere hates any "king" seeing as they set themselves above the normal.. so he killed the king with an agumented III fireball followed by a delayed blast fireball agugmented III...

almost killed Cyric.. he cheated.. he used a spell to save his cowardly ass...

actually Tenere is almost a demi god now.. i havent played him in 3 years.. he stared off in 1st edition as a fighter.. converted him to 2ed and forgotten realms.. then to 3ed d&d and 3ed forgotten realms..

Yay! I'm glad to see all of these characters. I can't wait until I'm a vetran gamer too.

My Lawful Evil character hasn't been terrible for the group. He has been influenceing two of the members though [meniachal laughter]. The Rogue in our team and the Ranger are both beginning to turn. Well, the Ranger is just hard hearted because she has had a lot of crap happen in her past. And our Bard (played by Spinach Indeed) is just a crazy fool who has mood swings and almost two different personalities.

I guess I'm a veteran gamer at this point.

My favorite character to date has to have been my Changeling: The dreaming character. It was a very small game, and run with quite a loose anything goes sort of feeling. We called the game "the Knocker game" because both of the regular players were from the knocker kith, and sort of in charge of the other players who dropped in with their slugha, trolls, redcaps or pooka. For those who don't know anything about Classical fairy lore, or Changeling a Knocker is basically fairy who is ether an inventor (very steam-punk) or a miner, and curses uncontrollably.

Anyway my character Ant'ny was a Knockers knocker. This was one of those games where the players dragged the GM around, and he desperately tried to keep up. Most of the game revolved around acquiring materials so that we could construct new things, or defending things which we had constructed.
The greatest work was our toll bridge, constructed in the dreaming (I.E. fantasy land) first we built the bridge, but only a few people came by because there wasn't much on the other side of it. So then we started throwing big festivals on the other side, and people started swimming the river, so we imported the shrieking eels from the princess bride. We also had to fight off the mafia, who tried to steal the thing, build about 10,00 booby traps into it, and hire security and collections.

The whole game was incredible. I still haven't found a game that quite matches changeling for an enjoyable romp. a very unappreciated game in my opinion.

I had built up a Samuri that I loved playing. The only probelm was most DMs werent familiar with the oriental adventure supplemental rules. The game stopped allot because they would have to reference my copy that I would always bring.

They made this character class a little to powerful in upper levels which made them brutal in combat (especially with a vorpal), but was balanced out with strict rules they had to obey (like Paladins) or face deadly consequences from other Samuri or from intelligent swords of they carried them.

One area I never explored, and only saw a few times was psionics. Has anyone ever dealt with or used them? What are they exactly?

Psionics are alot like Jedi, they use their minds to do things, like deal damage..raise stats etc.
The difference being Psionics are of the mind, and Jedi have the force :P

Alot of people I play with view Psionics as really powerful.
