I have a level three Lawful Evil Cleric (male) named Circa Siren that is currently studying to be a monk and has Storytelling as his craft. Here is his back-story:

The youngest of three children, Circa never got much attention from his pauper family. He grew up resenting his family who all had their own lives and problems once he came along. His mother, after having her first two children, had a few miscarraiges and two children (age one and three) who died of a disease that swept through their village. THeir deaths scarred her emotionally so when Circa was born she neglected to care for him properly and spent no time with him, as did the rest of his family.

Early in his childhood, Circa's older siblings left the village to find jobs in villages with more resources (like a blacksmith and an inn).

At the age of ten, Circa would leave his house during the day to wander around the village and the surrounding forrest out of boredom and looking for companionship. One day, he had been following the river in the forest when he came upon a large mountain of rocls. Pretending to be a great explorer, like the ones he had heard stories of in the village, he climbed the rocks and got a little off course. Eventually he wandered into a cave... deep into the cave (he was curious!) that's walls were lined with flaming torches. He snuck into the initiation ceremony of a dark religious sect. He came back everyday for a week and obsereved powerful happenings. A few of the members, including the hooded man who seemed to be the leader, lived in his village.

Circa went to talk to the leader, got himself initiated, and eventually became the leader's apprentice.

At the age of 16 Circa ran away from home tired of being anobody to his family when he was so powerful in his secret religious group. He informed the group of his plans to go out into the world, make a name for himself, and bring many followers to his supreme god (which I haven't decided on yet).

Circa would prove his worht to his useless family and get attention and gratitude from the masses.
