You got lucky. Many servers are Chaos-heavy for sure!
Wunder, I don't know if I agree with that. There is a TON of PvE. I'd say easily as much as WoW had at release. There's just more options for RvR(PvP) than WoW has. You can PvE through the whole game if you choose to. No, you won't have 40-man raids on Naxx... but trust me, having come from a hard core WoW guild that did 40-man raids two or three times a week (or more), that gets old VERY quickly. I don't know about WoW killer, but WoW equal I can definitely see. And while WoW has a great story, it's been shown over and over that a lot of story components were lifted from Warhammer back in the day. WAR has an amazing story, and the Tome of Knowledge really helps expose it.

I don't think they have a trial yet. I don't think WoW did either right away. Came a little ways down the line. I understand not wanting to buy a game you're unsure of. Keep an eye out for a trial though. It really is an amazing game so far.

well, knowing me I'll just end up going out to purchase it. I don't really buy any new games anymore though due to my current PC. It's not the greatest thing in the world. I have WoW on max settings and it runs flawlessly, but that definitely isn't saying much these days.
Anyways.. we'll see what happens. |

there is DEFINITELY plenty of pve to be had in WAR. when my internet is running slow, i'll stop the pvp and go do some pve to keep my leveling going. and there's still always gear to be got in public quests (WAR's equivalent of instances, tho they are not instanced).
what's so cool about the PvE system in WAR tho is that if you see a public quest going down, you can hop right in and join the fight. If you contribute a lot, you get a MUCH higher chance of getting loot thanks to the really innovative INFLUENCE system. (basically the more you contribute, the higher you roll). it makes for a cool little side track when your side is getting rickrolled in the battlegrounds or makes for an innovative PvE experience if you're more of a raider/quester. personally, i only do public quests once in a while since i left my raiding days behind with WoW(open beta, all pre-BC raids, all post BC raids and for the record Nef is the funnest fight they had yet to come up with, tho i did get to have my e-peen stroked hardcore as a SPriest on illidan :-P) WAR: come for the PvP, stay for the lulz |

I'm having more fun with this game than any mmo I've played since everquest including eq2, wow, and AoC.
Public quests are awesome and having the 3 different ways to level helps to ease the grind feeling you get from many other mmos. Currently lvl 13 with my disciple on ironfist. The only complaint about it I currently have is the mouse issue that won't allow you to hit m4 and m5 if you have the mouse2 button held down. Also, something about the interface just feels clunky or laggy. At times I think I have triggered abilities just to find that they never went off.

Just spent a few hours fighting a large group (60-70) of Destruction forces with my group of 50 Order. They battered down our keep gate and filled up the bottom floor. On the second floor, our healers were lined up in the back and our tanks were out front trying to keep (physically blocking) their guys from pouring up the ramp. The ranged dps guys would jump out (the witchhunters are sweet) and fire away at their healers/mages below before trying to get back up the ramp to safety. We eventually beat them back down and out of our keep. The battle then raged a couple more hours outside going back and forth between choke points and open spaces.
Man, I can't remember when I've had so much fun. |

Check me out.

The collision detection is a huge plus for this type of pvp when people can physically block advancing forces. Plus tanks have abilities that add increase armor and parrying abilities of those behind them. I'm questioning the server populations atm. It seems a fuller server is better in this game. I play on a server that has queue times to login at peak hours and I consider this optimal play time. Most PQ's are deserted unless it's peak hours and seiges never happen at weird hours of the day. I think mythic needs to fix this. Considering every aspect of the game is helped by a greater population (PQ's, RVR, scenarios) I don't understand why they limit it so low...

I think the limit is imposed while they are feeling things out hardware-wise. There are a lot of people still signing up fresh accounts and they don't seem to be in the process of bringing new servers online, so we shall see. Regardless, I <3 WAR

One complaint . . .
I have a very good computer. I bought a semi top-end comp about 12 months ago and it screams. On WAR, however, it is TERRIBLE. I am at the lowest settings and the game is almost unplayable in RVR. I just slammed by people because of video lag. It's mind-boggling. The other thing is once I've played WAR it essentially "poisons" my comp with some sort of mem leak. For example, it'll take me 25sec to load iTunes after I've closed WAR. Very weird, and, very annoying. Anyone experiencing anything like this? And, what did you do? Balls!

Also they were saying changing the refresh rate of the buff indicators help too. I guess the game updates them faster than is really needed causing lag. I'd recommend checking out the forums here: Warhammer Alliance Here's the buff throttle. Haven't tried it but people say it's great: http://war.curse.com/downloads/war-a...fthrottle.aspx

And Gabby, they have the same options they had in DAoC. You can set spell effects to all, group-only, self-only, or none. This makes a huge difference power wise, as in DAoC I had none or my comp would have a heart attack.

Seaver, Sammy,
Thanks for the tips. I've already jacked everything down to Famest Framerate, but, I'm really dead-set on this being a Mythic Issue. There is no reason that it should take 90 sec (and I've timed it!!!) to log out of the game when my comp is only 11 mo old and is WELL above min specs. I've seen some posts, made some changes, but not had much luck. Mythic has owned up to the fact that there is an issue so that gives me hope. In the meantime, I am really enjoying the game! In WoW I made one char and blasted my way to 60. In this game I have 4 x lvl 15 chars because I'm enjoying all of them quite a bit. Good work, Mythic!

Has anybody ever had this happen:
You log in, try to hit mobs for 2 minutes per mob, with no action points being lost, and you doing only a fraction of your normal damage, and on top of that, missing 4 out of 5 times? Had it happen to me yesterday for 3h (I didn't keep trying for 3h of course). Not just on my PC, I tried on 2 different machines as well...

So who else is playing this game?
Seems like the interest at TFP is rather small. Even so, I fully recommend it! None of the annoying timesinks that WoW has, and alot more fun PVP.

My "drama free" guild had a ton of drama and caused me to quit the game... I might pick it back up after the new big patch when the 2 classes are put in.

Stare At the Sun:
Depends on what you expect from the Patches. There's been 3 world-events now because of it, they've made several adjustments to the interface, as well as to the classes itself. The new classes are not my cup of tea, since they're both tanks, and I like lots of dps If there's one thing ruining the game for me at the moment, it's T3 Tor Anroc scenarios where every class has throwing skills except the 2 I chose to play it seems. Less throwing skills and throws should go less far. Other than that, I'm still going strong

After playing it for awhile now, it has lived up to my high expectations. The only two problems I have with it are the random crashes to desktop, and the animations are not something I'd expect out of such a new game. i.e. how they move, how they swing a sword, etc. just seems subpar to me for such a new game. No worse than WoW though.

Just a quick note to anyone thinking of trying Warhammer Online: There is a free 10-day trial available if you have, or sign up for, an account on FilePlanet. Be careful though. The download is 6.4 GB...yes, Gigabytes! It took me over three hours to download at about 560 Kb/sec. Details are on the Warhammer online website, which is warhammeronline.com.
So far, I am enjoying it. I like the art style better than WoW. I've never played WoW, only watched, so I can't speak to the differences or similarities in gameplay. I have some friends that are going to try it as well. If they like it and want to play, then I'll probably buy it. They play WoW a lot right now, so this will have to be pretty damn good for them to switch. |

I just quit the game, too much like wow for me, and with the recent 1.2 patch that all but made my WE unplayable, healers are way too powerfull. I am hoping darkfall will fill the void that not playing DAOC had left.

Joined up again when the new classes came out. Funny enough I am playing a zealot though. Just hit tier 3 and it is as busy as tier 2 was. Playing on Phoenix Throne which I believe is now the only North American RP server. I am actually enjoying myself quite a bit. Tons of orvr and sc's popping.
Time will tell though if I hang around as I initially quit with my dislike of tier 4. I am hoping I stick around for that new rvr controlled dungeon they are adding.

I'm full into T2, with a couple chars. Kind of trying to delay the inevitable. Apparently on my server (Ironclaw) T3 is completely barren. I can't imagine how though, all these clowns that are lvl 19-21 gotta go somewhere, right?
We'll see, I suppose. Playing a DoK, Chopper, and Sorc casually.

I've been having fun with WAR. Currently, I have a Witch Elf and a Black Orc on Gorfang, and a Shadow Warrior on Monolith. The two Destro characters are just entering T2 as is the Shadow Warrior. I have the most fun with the Witch Elf though. If any of you are on either of those servers, look me up. I am usually doing ORvR or solo questing.
