Since the coldest stars
shine to negative degrees
bigger's still better.

...just theorizing.

closer to home, turtles are some of the longest living creatures but sadly, their feeding instincts are being poisoned by human trash ...fucking litter bugs!!!

Joining the Laysan albatross as icons of ocean plastic pollution are sea turtles, which consume bellyfuls of debris while swimming through Earth’s five great ocean garbage patches.

Pictured above are the stomach contents of a juvenile sea turtle accidentally captured off the coast of Argentina. The image echoes famous photographs taken by Chris Jordan and Susan Middleton of decomposing albatrosses on the island of Midway.

whatever's in front of them
likely once fed them.

Can't look at a sea turtle without thinking Discworld. A mental association that can never be undone.

(Totally unsure what to post at this point in a thread. Ah well.)

Ourcrazymodern? 03-26-2011 08:49 PM

Be just & fear not!
This thread's pretending counting,
& wants a lot more.

Know the lighter side:
Ash weighs less after burning.
Sometimes it says things.

VidaFacile 03-26-2011 09:35 PM

Man. I went a day speaking only in haiku. Never again.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-26-2011 10:07 PM

Such, VidaFacile,
si no no entiendo,
it isn't a test.

With enough patience,
you'll see that what we're trying's
expanding the good.

VidaFacile 03-26-2011 10:10 PM

Ah, patience. My old enemy.
24568 isn't that great of a number. Damn.

citadel 03-27-2011 02:03 AM

I hate haiku's. That was the worst part of my World Cultures class in high school.

BadNick 03-27-2011 07:38 AM

Simply put
24570
is too short.

Thoughts in a basket,

is my ass too big?

makes me want to take up fishing again

BadNick 03-28-2011 04:38 PM

Talk about fishing, Alain Robert climbed the Burj Khalifa, tallest building in the world, in just 20 minutes! Sometimes it takes me that long to walk up the steps to my 2nd floor.

Suction cups tremble
while resisting gravity
just like basalt does.

It looked to me like last night and early this morning the moon was smiling at me with a bit of a sarcastic smile.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-30-2011 08:03 AM

That the moon does that,
as if it has intentions,
is kind of spooky.

The echoing emptiness
after the guests have left the party
seems a lot louder somehow.

BadNick 03-30-2011 11:58 AM

you're a poet and I suspect you know it

Ourcrazymodern? 03-30-2011 01:22 PM

Guess what else I know?
If it's not a fair question,
I shouldn't ask it.

...I've been a slow learner.

BadNick 03-30-2011 04:49 PM

I'm not really counting yet, but there are only 589 days left! I wonder if our friend, Zooks, is planning to personally witness this?

-- to note: I really like this page (you guys, our aim, knowledge.)

I'll get caught up, and then seek to share whatever happens to be relevant in what I have come to accumulate in my sea of surfing as well (on the topic of turtles).

And... to round this out in threes, I'll say, hello, and good graces.

author's comments: (Donovan Hohn, who decided to track down 28,800 missing bath toys lost at sea. What he found:)
When I set out following these toys, I didn’t expect it to turn into an
environmental story but I very quickly learned … that unlike the flotsam
of ages past, the flotsam of today — much of it plastic — persists. It lasts
visibly for decades and chemically for centuries because it doesn’t biodegrade.

Greetings unto to thee, tenderfoot by the title of VidaFacile.

Are you my polar opposite?

Ourcrazymodern? 04-01-2011 09:38 PM

Ending up on the same day
whichever hemisphere you're using
is a very good thing, right?

Jetée 04-02-2011 02:34 AM

re: So long as you are not time-travelling, I don't see why it might hurt.

ring 04-02-2011 10:28 AM

Its, not it's. I hate it when I make that mistake.

BadNick 04-02-2011 05:08 PM

I'm good with that one, ring. Whose and who's is another one. I just remember that the ' means you leave something out and then it makes sense to me and makes me think of possessive, contractions, babies being born, etc.

ring, we missed you for the longest time!

Hey- OCM- hi!!!!

BadNick 04-03-2011 05:59 PM

kind of a tilted pallindrome: 2 and 4 + 5 = 9 then we have 9 and 2

Lofting all the balls

Some must stay grounded.

I can't do such things
as feeling no remembrance,
so I simply don't.

sillygirl 04-04-2011 03:58 PM

Ocm Jay and I were talking about how we miss hanging out wih you!

Ourcrazymodern? 04-04-2011 04:12 PM

Happy to hear that.
It tells me a lot of things
I've wondered about.

...all extrapolated, of course.

sillygirl 04-04-2011 04:37 PM

Well pop on over to take 3 and say hello!

Ourcrazymodern? 04-04-2011 04:53 PM

25 minutes:
I need to go to St. Paul
for more foolishness.

sillygirl 04-04-2011 05:13 PM

*will patiently wait*

Ourcrazymodern? 04-04-2011 05:38 PM

It took the time it took,
St. Paul no longer open.
I neglected milk.

exactly 25 from the last response (not your own tho).

I can longer be surprised. Pity.
