^NICE!

One art show in town
put bare breasts on the billboards
& some were defaced.

What's nice again? I seemed to have missed the "irrevelant" last post of the prior page.

Would you be talking about graffiti, an actual sort of storefront gallery showcase, or am I missing the point entirely (traveling riffraff of carnival artists)?

New Moon in Pisces, March 4, 2011
This post was written by Anna on March 4, 2011 |

This New Moon in Pisces occurs at 3:46pm EST (8:46 pm GMT) at 14 degrees. New moons signify a new cycle, new beginnings, and rebirth. This new moon will highlight the Piscean qualities of imagination and enlightenment. Pisces also invites us to dream a little further beyond ourselves, forgiving others who may have wronged us (and perhaps even forgiving ourselves for past hurts or mistakes). Saturn Retrograde in Libra also makes a quincunx to the New Moon, signifying that perhaps you need to make some changes before you can move on to dreaming up what the future holds.

During this Pisces New Moon, Mars, Mercury, Uranus, Chiron, and the sun are also transiting through Pisces, making enlightenment and ethereal qualities especially highlighted. Now is the time to discover your sixth sense or perhaps become more in tune with your already intuitive abilities. As you move forward during this lunar cycle, reflect on the compassion needed to let go of past hurts and move forward with those things that are greater than ourselves.

I wonder when the haiku first found relevance in Modern Western Culture, and then, the living the room? (guess: 1850s ; 1955)

Ourcrazymodern? 03-05-2011 01:43 PM

I've no guess on that:
I don't know why I do it,
but it's part of me.

& a serious case, @ that, but doctors'
confirmations vary, on purpose.

(2-(4/4))+8=9...(I copied the math thing, as well.)

Something about a steam shovel, possibly, made it find relevance amongst youngsters... maybe?

What lifts & carries,
let be how the youngsters see,
is diff'rent lately.

Cool seriousness!
Lending itself fantasy,
but not demanding.

BadNick 03-06-2011 02:04 PM

I did the ESP test but I didn't see it give my score. I'm sure I was 100% or so.

I'm sure that it was,

Our's is not to question why, our's is but to do or die.

Jetée 03-08-2011 05:32 PM

sad fact: we are dying.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-08-2011 05:49 PM

A sadder fact, still,
that accepting that wholesale
requires insurance.

Pluto's planethood
doesn't bother it at all
'cuz it has Charon.

BadNick 03-08-2011 08:57 PM

Charon must have good taste in cold dwarfs.

From Jet's "sad facts" link I learned that a blue whale can blow up 2000 balloons with one breath!

BadNick 03-09-2011 06:44 AM

Inviting it to a birthday party would make it a whale of a party.

Jetée 03-09-2011 07:50 AM

You gave me a funny pun for breakfast. Yum.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-09-2011 08:32 AM

Some kielbasa to break fast,
though I might prefer much sweeter things,
my appetites mislead me.

BadNick 03-09-2011 08:42 AM

My breakfast taste leans more for kielbasi with scrambled eggs than any sweet stuff...except a kiss.

Since it's nearly Spring, I would prefer to call it a Full Worm Moon to celebrate the reappearance of worms and the return of the robins Full Moon Names and Their Meanings | Farmers Almanac

But Full Sap Moon is another name:

Sap Moon to present largest Full Moon of 2011, says Norwood astronomer

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 - 2:15 pm
By BRUCE McCLURE

The Full Moon falling on March 19 ushers in the third Full Moon after the December 21 solstice, and it will be a big one.

In North America, we commonly call this Full Moon the Sap Moon, Crow Moon or Worm Moon. This year, the March Full Moon gives us the closest and largest Full Moon of 2011.

This upcoming Full Moon will coincide with lunar perigee, the Moon's closest approach to Earth for the month. At perigee on March 19, the Moon will be a little more than 222,000 miles away. Contrast this to lunar apogee, the Moon's farthest distance, on March 6, when it was over 252,000 miles distant.

As a rule of thumb, the year's closest perigee takes place on the one day of the year that the Full Moon and perigee align. March 19 won't only feature the closest Full Moon of the year, but the Moon at its nearest for all of 2011.

Closest Full Moons recur in cycles of 14 lunar months. That's because 14 returns to Full Moon almost exactly equal 15 returns to perigee. The lunar month refers to the period of time between successive Full Moons: 29.53059 days. The anomalistic month is the period between successive perigees: 27.55455 days. Hence:

14 x 29.53059 = 413.428 days 15 x 27.55455 = 413.318 days

This period of time is about equal to 1 year 1 month and 18 days. In 2012, the closest Full Moon will occur on May 5.

Enjoy the Sap Moon, the closest and largest Full Moon of 2011, as it lights up the nighttime from dusk till dawn.

Astronomer Bruce McClure of Norwood writes for EarthSky, an astronomy information and entertainment service at EarthSky.org.

the longest operation in the world?

From February 04 - 08 1951 Gertrude Levandowski underwent surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. The world's longest operation lasted 96 hours.

Gertrude Levandowski went from a scale tipping 616 pounds to manageable 308 pounds, losing 1/2 her body weight after the cyst was removed.

(I find it hard to believe it was exactly half her weight. It was 308 and not 309 or 307?)

I'm only coming up with nine rhymes with wine and vine and mine and fine and dine as well as line and pine. A "zine" has that "eeee" sound, so not the longest "i" sound.

Zooksport2 03-14-2011 11:43 PM

That would be correct, OCM.
