Today's sunrise was so beautiful,
you could see the brightly colored leaves through a thick foggy sunlit mist. The fog cleared about a half hour later. As our earth tilts this time of year, (where I live) the angle of the sun throws increasingly longer shadows. I remember a beautiful picture BadNick posted some time ago, of the sun..a time lapsed image..where it rose and set, just above the horizon. I am going back to look for it now. Peace. |

a riddle....
went for a dive in Long Valley, then over the Short Hills, and up past a Fair Lawn. I did it all in a few short hours. What state am I in?

New Jersey ...is it cheating that I live in PA and have been through that area many times? ring, is it this pic of the sunrise/sunset?  ...or another one I posted was from Antarctica where the sun never dipped below the horizon during the Antarctic Summer...which I would have probably found at one of these two scientific research sites: Concordia Base - Scientific Research on High Antartic Plateau - DOME C 75° S 123° E JACARA found this other one I thought you might be referring to...the Antarctic never sunrise or sunset  Last edited by BadNick; 10-18-2008 at 10:04 AM.. |

One way I think of how/why time seems to pass more rapidly as we get older:
When you are say 8 years old...one year is 12.5% of your life to that point, which is a very significant proportion so it seems like a "long" time to you. When you are say 60 years old...one year is 1.7% of your life to that point, so it seems like a pretty short additional period. Of course this assumes you are not travelling at the speed of light or holding a flashlight pointing into your eyes. |
