The l o n g e s t rabbit ears measured 79 cm (31.125 in) in a complete span on November 1, 2003 at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Show in Wichita, Kansas, USA. The ears belong to an English Lop called Nipper's Geronimo who is owned by Waymon and Margaret Nipper of Bakersfield, California, USA.

Yes, the bell comes in quite handy. Cinna enjoys hiding behind/under couches, armoirs, chairs, bushes, and barbecues. She is a crafty rabbit who runs stealthily about our home unless laden with a bell. Luckily she chose not to chew through this collar as she did her last. I believe she prefers the loose, stretchy weave. Or maybe it's the color. She does love green.
We heard church bells as we drove to dinner this evening. Much deeper than the Bun's. (not my photo)

A few years ago we attended a performance by a remarkable handbell ensemble. I was impressed.

Not boring if you like to wander around in the stacks and browse through books and help nice women find what they're looking for. I have many fond memories of life in the library. Or even around the library. Even when I was just in elementary school I used to meet the two loves of my life, Christine and Maria, after school at the local public library. That darn Maria used to beat me in a foot race around the library park and then I'd have to come back and get some of Christine's sympathy. In college I practically lived in the library. Plus they always seemed lax/receptive to allowing me to hang a bunch of my paintings and other art works on the walls whenever I felt like it, so it was like a free gallery. If there was a bar and luncheonette there, I'd never have to leave....I hope my reply is not too longest.

When I was six years old, (1965)
our small town library had a small 'childrens' section. It was a big no-no for children to even wander over into the adult section. I couldn't help it, I would quietly brave the librarian's glare, and just stare up at the mountain of books, then I would gently run my hands across the backs of the books, feeling the leather bindings, some with fancy raised braille type letters. The smell of the polished hardwood floors, the books, the dust cooking on top of the old radiators in January, my cold wet wool scarf. |
