The more I type, the harder this thread pokes me in the back of my head. Here, I'll lean to the left a little... there it goes... like a coiled spring. See ya little threadie.

Maybe you will see
if you have become able; I ain't got a clue. -----Added 3/9/2008 at 10 : 26 : 19----- Otherwise, you might contribute further nonsense, and make it a truth. |

Howdy everyone. This is my first post! It's good to be here!

Hi AV. Glad you're here making us longer.
|
So I found a new show to watch at work: Dexter.
Only watched the first 2 episodes yesterday but I'm already hooked. |
I wanted to be one of the many Darth Vaders on the bridge.
(Who were those masked folk?) |
I might need the wind
underneath my strongish wings to fly anymore. (Or else I'll just use silk) ((Hell, you know where that comes from.) |
We need more beans.

How to calculate Percent yield:
Write the chemical equation. Record the mass of each of your starting materials. Convert the mass to moles by dividing by molar mass Divide the # moles of one reactant by the other (experimental ratio) Divide the coefficient of one reactant by the other (stoichiometric ratio) If the stoichiometric ratio is larger, then the numerator is the limiting reagent. Predict the theoretical yield by multiplying # moles limiting reagent by the ratio: product's coefficient/limiting reagent's coefficient Run your process Gather the purified product. Measure and record its mass. Convert mass to moles product. This is the experimental yield. Calculate the percent yield by dividing experimental/theoretical x 100. *If your final product is impure, your experimental yield may be higher than the theoretical yield. If this is the case, dessicate your product for an additional five minutes. |
