10 Canadians needed for School Project

Hello, my name is Jack and I am doing a project for my online Master's course in Linguistics. Ya, I know... what for, but why not, I am not doing nothing here in Japan except teach highschool kids.

Anyhow, if you got about 5 to 10 min of time I would appreciate your help. I am Canadian and need a study group of like dialect people. Not American, Ozzies, Kiwis or Poms. Canadians only.

This is about phonetic spelling...spelling it like it sounds.

For example --- school - skool
bread - bred
physics - fiz-iks
Christmas - kriss-mas

What I am studying about are words with barely noticeable vowel sounds (called schwa) like the second "e" in even
or the "i" in practice- prak-tiss

How do you translate it into spelling? That's what I want to know.

So, if you could take about 5 min. or so and take a look at the following 17 words...and respell them in a way that seems natural to you...there are no wrong ways. Just try to write in a way that will give the best impression for the sound.

If you want you could just type on this page here and send it back to me. If you could, I would like to get this back as soon as you can so I could start writing this experiment out. It's due next Friday. Thanks for your time. OK...here we go.

1. abacus -

2. adam -

3. again -

4. apple -

5. canopy -

6. collide -

7. compete -

8. correlate -

10. fabulous -

11. financial -

12. parade -

13. preparation -

14. reference -

15. subside -

16. succeed -

17. telephone -

Please add your first name (you don't have to give me a last name if you don't want...I can make it up)...age, what did you graduate with (if anything), location and current job.

I really do appreciate this.
thanks.
