Everything. Pork chops, butt chops, steak, burgers, hot dogs, bacon, sliced potatoes, ground beef (this one's a bit difficult), ham slices, deer steak, turkey slices.............etc. If you want something fried, but not the grease level, Foreman it. It's so quick that it fits my hectic lifestyle perfectly.

i've not been all that impressed with the "grill" on it.. meaning the grill marks...
but... you can make lots of things from lamb chops to minute steaks... seasonings from garlic salt to cajun spices.

Did chicken alot on one when one of my roommates had it; come home from 8 hours of writing code, toss a chicken breast on the foreman, fix some of the instant-add-water-and-milk pasta alfredo, dump a few spices in it, then just dump the chicken into the mix for instant chicken alfredo, only took about 10 minutes to cook (just enough time to get a good start on a cold beer). From what I saw you can make just about anything though, saw my roommates occasionally make grilled cheese on it (though the cheese tends to run out one side and make a mess if you don't pay attention)

Been sittin in a cupboard since I moved in. Got a Griddle pan instead and like that better for the charred effect. As for the less fat, healthy eating deal. Well all I can say is I'm happy 'cause I eat Lard.

It may seem obvious to some, but don't use mental utensils with the George. You run the risk of scratching the surface.
As for recipes.....shrimp, sausage, burgers or chicken. Add a little spice and ENJOY!

For great crispy hash browns on the Foreman, buy the shredded Simply Potatoes brand in the green bag. They are the fresh ones, not frozen, and they cook up great. Arrange them on the griddle after spraying with Pam, close the lid and check them after 20 minutes or so. Sometimes takes longer depending on how crispy/dark you want them. Take off griddle and slather with mass amounts of ketchup and Tabasco. Can't beat it...

Foreman grill
Ok, I know that this has to have been done before, but...well, you know.
Does anyone have any good ideas/ recipes for a George Foreman grill? I'm especially interested in fish and other meats- aside from hamburgers.

I personally don't use the foreman thing, however ive seen this done. Salmon seasoned with salt a black pepper grilled to med rare then topped with butter, fresh dill and a squeeze of lemon juice. or you can put some Cajun seasoning on any fish an try to blacken it.

I cook nearly anything on mine. I like to marinate meats or use different rubs. Even made some of Emeril's rubs from FoodTV.com.
I did recently switch to a panini grill. The one I have has a drip feature like the Foreman. It has variable temps for different foods. The big benefit is that it has a floating top, like all panini grills do. That means you can cook something up to 3" thick evenly. The Foreman came up short there.

i think that a panini also heats hotter too

You are right about that. I think mine is about 300 watts hotter than my old small Foreman. You can sear the outside and then cut it back a little if you want to with the variable temp. Also, the grids are closer together.... but I'm not sure what that does. It was a little more expensive than the Foreman of a similar size.

Actually, if you think about it, it would have to impact the fat content.
If you cook a burger in a pan, it just sits in its own fat. On the Foreman or panini grills, the fat drains off. That's how the fat content is reduced. All you have to do is cook the same thing in a pan and on the Foreman and measure the fat left over. That's the measurable difference. I would be interested in knowing whom the "they" is that conducted the fat tests.

Oh I love this nifty little gadget. I cook everything on it.
Fish, chicken, steak, pork... I tried cooking shrimp on it once, and my stomach didn't like it, so I don't think I will be trying that again. Some other things I have cooked on the foreman: toast grilled cheese grilled vegetables (be careful you don't overcook them!) I like cooking grilled cheese on it the best, because it cooks faster than a toaster, and you get those wacky gridlines on it!

Grilled cheese. I put sliced turkey or bacon in the sandwich too.
I pack tortillas with whatever and roll them up and put them on for about 30 seconds for a quick meal. Also, I do the basic turkey or chicken breasts. That's about it though. I love it. It's kind of hard to clean though sometimes. |

I cook just about everything but steak on it. I found that steak is too dry when cooked. I cook chicken (almost daily), tuna, salmon, pork chops, hamburgs, hot dogs, sausage, brats, etc. There is nothing I haven't tried as of yet. When I season, I use Emmeril's original on chicken, and it turns out great.
