Smoked pork tenderloin with a hot mustard rub. Smoked salmon with three different asian marinades. Not pictured: Potato salad, green beans, dirty rice, fresh baked wheat bread. I slipped into a food coma. It was so fucking wonderful. |

I just gobbled some maki rolls from Shangri La in Bala Cynwyd...you can see that pile of tasty seaweed salad; one maki roll has yellow tail, salmon, and eel; the other is eel and spicy tuna inside; the other is salmon...I like their salmon since it is so butter tender and very tasty...the fishies were washed by a wave of Warsteiner Premium Verum, a very fine German brew, actually there were two waves involved. Bon Appetit, as they don't usually say in Tokyo.

today I had a tuna grinder from Boston Style at Merion...they have excellent rolls, then put some very good albacore tuna salad on it, with tomato, green peppers, onions, provolone, then oven toasted. With that I had their Greek salad, but I take the big chunks of feta they put on it, I chop up the few anchovies, mush it up with the feta, then I pour their good vinegar, oil, and herbs dressing all over it, then toss it with the salad. That small pizza with ham on the side was for my son; they happen to make excellent pizza, too. I had a Stewart's Black Cherry Wishniak soda with it, my sonny boy had a root beer.

I made grilled chicken, topped with crimini mushrooms in red wine. Asparagus with lemon juice, olive oil and fresh grated Parmesan cheese. In the little dish is a salad (yea well call it that) of avocado, tomato, sauteed bell pepper and garlic then drizzled with a little toasted sesame oil. Mmmm delicious!

A very good little antipasto from the corner deli, tasty little bread roll, with a Warsteiner Premium Verun pilsner.

Talk about Bisquick, we had our Thanksgiving luncheon in work today and everybody brings something to put on the table. The cute little chubby girl, so cute I want to hug her every time I see her, made these really tasty little biscuits with Bisquick and then gave us the recipe below...they were very yummy.
Cheddar Bay Biscuits like Red Lobster's® Garlic and cheddar make a flavorful addition to basic drop biscuits. Serves: 8 Prep. Time: 0:15 2 cups Bisquick® baking mix 2/3 cup milk - low fat okay 1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese - low fat okay 1/4 cup butter OR margarine - melted 1/4 tsp. garlic powder OR granulated garlic parsley flakes - as needed -Combine Bisquick®, milk, and cheddar and beat with a wooden spoon for about 30 seconds. -Spoon onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. -Bake in 450 degree oven for 8 - 10 minutes. -Combine butter and garlic powder and pour over hot biscuits; sprinkle with parsley. Notes: As we all know, restaurants have access to ingredients home cooks do not. In this case, I've been told Red Lobster® uses their Shrimp Scampi butter mix (a powder) to flavor their biscuits. So, this recipe is as close as a home cook can get to the real thing. |

I've made them as well. They're fantastic.
I just roasted some marshmallows over the stove burner. They were awesome. I wonder if a candle would work so I don't have to stand there in the kitchen? Or would the marshmallow pick up candle smell? |

if you use a real beeswax candle, it gives off no soot and no smell...walk down to your local Catholic church and roast a marshmallow on a votive candle...you'll see what I mean. Sadly, this reminds me that bees are under stress and I hope they make it or we're toast.

BadNick, those biscuits turned out amazing! Currently munching on those with leftover chorizo (from Cornbread Chorizo stuffing currently baking in the oven) while making a second batch with minced jalapenos. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

My evil scheme worked. Everyone had my pumpkin pancakes this morning, thinking that was the end of Thanksgiving. Nay, I say, for it's not over 'till it's over. La Villa ravioli now fills my belly, and for that I give thanks to the Italians that came to the Bay Area with their wonderful recipes. It's the best ravioli in the world.

For Thanksgiving I made a corn casserole which was very good, but next time I make it I'm adding some minced jalapenos. |

Waffle maker cookies and french pressed coffee. The perfect late night, all-nighter meal.
I used the recipe over at Oatmeal-Chocolate Chip Waffle Cookies - Fine Cooking Recipe , but cut the amount of chocolate by half, replaced that with equal parts crushed walnuts and dry cranberries. |
