National Treasure II: 7/10
Fairly entertaining, but it just felt like it was lacking something. It didn't seem as though there were many boring parts, but when you reflect on it, there wasn't a ton of action. Along those lines, I think it would have been better to have actually extended the movie by tossing in a couple clues that they actually had to do some thinking about, as opposed to pretty much nailing it spot on every time with virtually no guesswork. |

:grumpy: commercials popped up what seemed like every 5 minuets. |
I have to agree with you both.
I liked the start and most of the 2hrs that started. it was entertaining but nothing spectacular and in the last 2hrs, it just dragged. and people dying for no fucking reason, the special effects started to drop in quality, etc... overall, if it would have been crushed in 2hrs with no comercials, it would be fine. I rate it 7/10 just because I think it would be ok without comercials. so download it/rent it and see for yourself! |
I planned on downloading Andromeda Strain as I never watch anything on TV if i can get away with it.
I never saw the original but I did read the book. I loved the book right until the ending, what a cop out the ending was. |
The Prestige: 8.5/10
I had an idea of how the movie was going to end, but they twisted it just enough that it threw me for a spin. Pretty good flick. |

as for the renting part, i now live so far in the middle of bum fuck that there is no video store. thats right, no video store!!! how can i live you ask? i dont. |
I dunno... will it play again? set your VCR to record. just make sure you have 2 tapes unless you record in SUPER CRAP MODE.

The golden compass
wow. what a terrible movie! i don't have much to say but after 45min of boredom, i just started FF into the rest and it never got better. i'm sick of these harrypotter-ish movies where 1 random kid is so fucking awesome and they don't even know. fucking boring. oh and the storyline never picked up. I never cared about the characters or the CGI animals. overall, one of my lowest reviews on this site yet: a 2/10 |
and i was about to buy that on ppv. thanks for the save MOAB. looks like its sweeny todd ,there will be blood, or juno for me.
The Crow:Wicked Prayer. Ive shit better than this. When the movie first started i found myself thinking "edward furlong? neat!" reminiscing to memories of him whizzing around on a dirt bike, avoiding semis and metallic menaces. I was also thinking "Well, his acting was good in T2, American history x, and Detroit rock city why not now." It turns out that he doesnt make a very good Crow character. Not only that, but this movie should have died out with brandon lee. i dont even know where to begin. Same plot as the original basically, only butchered. HORRIBLE wire flying/stunts and horrible actors. just...just avoid this movie. if you ever see it on a shelf do EVERYONE a favor and smash it. |

=================================================== "There will be Blood" Great movie!! what really got me in this movie is the brutality of the time. and the music adds so much! I don't want to ruin it for anyone but it's pretty much the story of a guy and his business of drilling for oil on other people's property. Don't stop watching it after the slow start because i almost did. just keep watching till you finish and you'll be glad you did. The acting is great from everyone. And the visual really made me believe I was watching a movie in that time. It's hard to say but I think this is a Hate it or Love it kinda movie. My rating for the movie is: 8.5/10 |
The Strangers - 6/10
If it weren't for overall strong acting and great direction, I'd probably give this a 4/10. It's a painfully average, predictable film with a few minute surprises that act as novelties in a terribly lazy screenplay. It just didn't amount to a hill of beans, but I give it extra props for a good first time director and a few alright jump scares (which made up the entire movie, by the way). I don't recommend this movie, unless you can get in for free like I did. |
Saved! - 7/10
It was good. Some parts are funny. In the end, it was another high school drama with everything turning out OK. |
Sex and the City -- 5 or so...
Having never seen an episode of this program we were afraid that we would miss out on a lot. Perhaps we did, but we really don't know. It was okay. It was fun. My main complaint is the length. This movie is way too long. |

That's not a spoiler either so don't go nuts yelling at me for not using spoiler tags if you haven't seen it yet. |

LS read the book and she said they cut so much and changed so much it was totally different. Plus, it was written by an Atheist and the Catholic Church worked really hard to boycott it.... did well in other countries though. |
Charlies Angels: Full Throttle.
Utterly ridiculous, but romping good fun nonetheless. 7/10 |
What Happens in Vegas...
5/10
And I might be being a little generous here. I have a soft spot for both Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. Though I must admit it's hard for me to watch Diaz in anything and not compare it to "Something About Mary." And I don't think I've ever seen Kutcher in a movie I liked- ever. Basically "That's 70's Show" taints my impression of him. Any who this is a fairly predictable flick with a few good laughs, too few and far in between, IMO. Also seems they could have put Rob Corddry's and Lake Bell's talents to use much, much better. Overall... Meh. What Happens in Vegas probably should have stayed in Vegas. |
The Strangers - 2/10
Awful. 70 mins long, totally pointless plot, flimsy character development, terrible acting. Just stay home. |
A. I. Artificial Intelligence. 9/10 Awesome film! but very long for short attention spans
Older film... but we had just seen my niece in a ballet-school presentation of Pinocchio and thought my daughter might like the futuristic twist on the story. It's an awesome movie, but she reacted strongly during the scenes were the old robots were tortured and destroyed for amusement at the carnival. We had to turn it off ... bad judgment on my part letting her watch it in the first place. My wife and I watched later. The ending where you see "teddy's" reaction after David passes always gets to me. Most of the special effects still withstand the test of time. Great artistic vision and execution regarding the robot characters and their human-like qualities. |
Porky's 9/10
One of my favorite "teen sex comedies." Sure it's older than I am but without it, American pie and others just wouldn't exist. From Kim Cattrell's "lassie" scene to the scene at Cherry Forever's house. It's funny every time I watch it. |
A Better Tomorrow - 7/10
Nowhere near as good as John Woo's more well known shoot-em-ups, The Killer and Hard Boiled, this is still a very endearing, hear-warming film with some fantastic and memorable action sequences. I love gunplay, and gunplay with an involving story is just what I expect from '80s Woo, and just what I got here. |
The Strangers, 5/10
It was a poor story, poorly constructed, and very predictable. |
Juno
I'll keep this short. terrible movie. I didn't care about the story or the characters. I do not recommend it. 3.5/10 |
1408
- 3.5/5 It has John Cusack which is always a plus. It was actually kinda creepy too. Not great but it was worth a watch. |
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 9/10
God this is a good movie. Its some serious cheese, but thats what I love. This was my all time favorite movie as a child, and I still love it. I picked up the 3 piece box set a while back for DVD and love em (admittedly, I have not watched the 3rd one yet, as I remember not ever liking this one, but I have watched 1 and 2 several times, 1 is far better). This was on TV last night and I decided to watch it, commercials suck, but I was so hooked I didn't even bother to grab my DVD. Amazing sound track, MC Hammer can not be beat! TURTLE POWER! |
Enchanted - 7/10
a good disney film that brings some very nice touches to the screen. lots of look for similar or homage to other movies... |
You Don't Mess With The Zohan - 6.5/10
I went to see this as part of a 'company outing' tonight. You see, half my company is Israeli and even my boss used to be in the Mossad (Israeli secret service). So we all went... company paid. The movie was funny in parts, ridiculous in others, sad in the rest. Over all, I admit to laughing a lot because there were many things that reminded me of the people who I worked with. On the other hand, all the Israelis were so embarrassed! They swore most of the stuff mentioned had nothing to do with them. Tomorrow at work, I am going to announce many Disco Breaks. |
The seventh seal.
This was surprisingly cheerful. I didn't think old Mr. Death was all that scary. He knew very well what Max von Sydow was up to, but let him go anyway. Surely he could have nabbed the actors if had wanted to. And, as R. pointed out, just how downbeat can you be when you have a big guy in a black shroud and whiteface stalking the other actors around the set. Much more upbeat than "Wild strawberries" or "Virgin spring". Considering that it was made at the height of the Cold War, not long after WWII, i'd say it's almost too cheerful. |
The Beautiful Country - 8/10
Very little dialogue and though there is travelling involved, a very introspective, poignant movie about different cultures, human suffering and relationships, and one man's desire to know his father. |
Hitch, 7/10.
Don't know how accurate it is as a manual for seduction, but it's entertaining nonetheless. |
The Happening 8/10
I can see how critics would reduce a movie like this to shreds and as it just came out last night I'll try not to give too much away. But the only bad thing I can say about the movie is that it was a bit gory at times. Not perfectly plausible but you really can't expect it to be. Mark Whalberg, John Leguizamo and all of the actors come across as believable and unlike Cloverfield - in the midst of their chaos you actually care for them. .. |
I need to catch up here, I've watched a lot of movies lately.
But did I mention that I saw There Will Be Blood? And that it is quite possibly one of the best films I have seen ever? I'm a little mystified as to how this film came out of PT Anderson. Not that I don't like him, I like him very much. But the film is a bit otherworldly. To me, it's as if residents of another planet observed us and then made this film for their planet. Eh, or I could be overdoing it. :p At any rate, it is a fine, fine, fine, fine film and I recommend it highly. 10/10 |
Red Belt
Despite the presence of Tim the Tool Man Taylor, I actually liked this movie some. It was entertaining and a little twisted, but the fighting was less stagey looking than some others. I'll go with a 6/10. Lars and the Real Girl Let me first say that my SO does not laugh out loud at movies. He fell off the couch with this one. It was predictible somewhat towards the end only becuase I have mental health training, but my SO didn't think so at all. I found it hilarious, sad, entertaining, and incredibly well acted. I actually think I'd watch it again just to catch some of the actors' facial expressions that I might have missed. I liked that it didn't rely on goofyness or stupid jokes to make you laugh. the story stood alone. 9.5/10 |
The Incredible Hulk - 9/10
This was just as good as Iron Man. The action and story are vast improvements over that Ang Lee pile of shit. I was thrilled and entertained throughout the whole movie and I really appreciated the serious tone. Good stuff! |
last night I saw..
Jumpers...ehh...ok. not a bad rental if you can walk to the store and avoid payng for gas to get it along w/ the rental fee. and... Buckett List....boring... umm, very hard to maintain any attention to it. |
Firstly, about time mixedmedia! There Will Be Blood is one film that's almost too awesome to exist.
Also, The Incredible Hulk - 8/10 Amazing film with some great, A+ references (Leader, anyone?). I'm a DC nerd personally, but Marvel is really winning me over. Also, the film had Tim Roth going apeshit and action that could kill a whale with sheer awesome. Loved it. |
The Happening - 0/10. Actually, can I give a film a negative rating?
I usually like M. Knight's movie, but COMMON. Gimme a break here man, step it up a little. Acting was atrocious, story was bunk, and people were actually laughing at certain parts during the movie because of how ridiculous it was. Bah. |
The Happening-1/10
I agree with Church on this movie. The script needed work, acting was terrible (Mark Wahlberg does not fit into a nice science teacher) and the story was weak. I think they should have chosen different actors because Zooey Deschanel, Mark Wahlberg, and John Leguizamo do not work well in this movie. |
Just got back from The Incredible Hulk.
9/10 I agree with Retrogunslinger, I *love* the references and there's plenty of them, too. Kick ass action and direction. I read on some website review that this movie lacks "heart." What is that bullshit? I see plenty of it. I get a little choked up. It's also so gritty...awesome movie!!! |
