My Family 9/10

Older film, 1995 I think. Well put together family drama following several generations of Latinos. I read one review after seeing it that called it either an epic or a saga, not sure what makes that distinction. It does run kind of long but I was never bored. Stars Edward James Olmos, Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Smits.

A Life Less Ordinary 8/10

Very, very different movie. Maybe I was just I the mood for something other then Good cop/Bad cop, two buddy rouge cops take on the system and win, person takes on the world and wins etc... All too often I watch something only to get the feeling "I've seen this before," almost like I know what going to happen next. It was nice to see a movie where I kept wondering what's coming next.

Juno - 8/10

Live Free or Die Hard - 7/10
Very entertaining. If you can get past all the bullshit hacking into every system known to man crap.

Weird Science. So bad, it's bad. 3/10

300 - 9/10

I love this movie more each time I watch it.
They did such a fantastic job making it look like a comic book.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - 9.5/10
This is some good shit. I decided to rent it based off of other users reviews and it was quite a pick. Good work, all.

There Will Be Blood -- WTF/10.
I really didn't know what to think. It was boring at times and weird as hell at others. Maybe 6/10? Daniel Day-Lewis was awesome, though.

I didn't think it would be a very good "thriller" but it was a good story with good pacing and editing. There's a couple devices that bothered me, but all in all they work in the story and the culture. As we start to see more movies redone from other countries, I think that this is a good candidate for a Hollywood treatment.

Insomnia worked well, I think this will work well also.

I really like Wes Anderson films, but this was a lot of style and not much substance. There was little humor and very little emotional connection with the characters. Dull.

30 Days of Night - 8/10
Solid vampire movie, some quite frightening moments. Loved the dark, snowy atmosphere...reminded of The Thing. I found the lead vampire pretty damn freaky. Awesome Bela Lugosi reference midway through. Cool vampire teeth. Pleasantly surprised.

I just saw Casablanca for the first time ever tonight. I really liked it but it was so unoriginal. I mean they kept using these cliched lines that I've heard a bazillion times.
"Here's looking at you, kid."
"You'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life."

I mean, come on! Where's the orginality?

Also, there was no nudity in this film.

3/10 for the rocking tunes.

Mayerthorpe 9/10

Great TV movie that was shown on CTV here in Canada, about the Mayerthorpe Incident where 4 RCMP officers were murdered by a man who shouldn't have been with normal people, fucker should have been in jail. It really shows the flaws in our justice system, and hopefully we take the lessons from this incident and apply them so it never happens again.

You know I caught that show. I thought it jumped back and forth a bit. It wasn't bad for a TV movie, just wasn't great in my book.

Agreed they didn't need to jump back and forth as much, I'm pretty sure Canadians understood that Roszko had a coloured past to say the least.

Rambo 4 - 9/10

Holy crap this was good!! Talk about gory, Rambo does not mess around in this one.

Star Wars V - 9/10

Weakest of the original 3, but still absolutely amazing. Love these ones

Indiana Jones 3 - 10/10

One of the best movies ever, best one in the trilogy. I sure hope they don't ruin the fourth one.

Not a big Will Ferrell fan, but the music and dance numbers made it worth the 7 bucks.

I think this qualifies as a good thriller. Good performances, but there were some loopholes. I enjoyed it... and the girl is HOT. I want a rated R version.

Good movie.. delivers exactly what it promises. How do you end these stories though? How do you decide who dies? Does their death always have to be symbolic? Eh, well... it was good.

Army in the Shadows (8/10)
A movie by Jean Pierre Melville very loosely based on his experiences in the French resistance during WWII. An interesting movie, but not as compelling as many of his other films.
It's definitely an interesting movie - Much better than the sequels.

10 for keeping me interested (to the point that when the disk we got at the video store started freezing about 30mins to the end, that healer and I waited till the next day to take it back and ask for another copy just so we could see th ending) but 8 for the crappy but not so crappy ending. :)

Empire??? Are you kidding? It's the BEST of the SW movie. Improves in every way on A New Hope, and all Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets.

August Rush - 8/10

It was a good story overall, but there were definitely some cheesy parts, especially when the kid was playing the instruments...

Okay I haven't seen 4 or 6 for a while, I will watch them again and get back to you guys!

Dante's Peak - 6.5/10

Enjoyable movie, but full of inaccuracies which takes away from the film.

I just watched Grindhouse, fucking Sweet. its 2 parts.

I Give Grindhouse presents: planet terror a 9/10 (a Mini bike, zombies, and a girl with an assult rifle leg, fucken aye!)

and i think ill give Grindhouse presents: Death Proof a 8.5 out of 10

Death proof would have been better if there were more bad ass car chase scences and less girl talk.

oh yeah, i also watched a movie called Irreversible today. French film that so a wtf/10. its just pure insanity. Its a bit on the long side and has a few graphic scenes that just made me cringe.

This is a lovely story. It's got comedy, romance, gratuitous nudity, and a bunch of british accents. That's some good shit.

Be Kind, Rewind - 8/10

Good, though not quite great. Does a wonderful job on constructing a beautifully improbable world, and the laughs are funny on a number of levels. Many of the filming techniques/styles are what's enchanting about this film.

It was good but not fantastic. Great costumes, great acting especially by Natlie Portman.

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - Must have watched this loads of times as a kid, but I still enjoy seeing it. A masterpiece. 9/10

Doomsday - 2/10

After seeing this film I read that it was "not meant for everyone." Well, it certainly was not meant for me. I loved the idea, but I hated the film. Raw violence (and not much else) in a way that bored me. I would have walked out and gone into Horton, but it was sold out.
