Star Trek: 9.5/10
I love it! Wolverine: 3/10 Amazing opening scene, pure shit otherwise. They fucked up the only reasons I wanted to see it (Deadpool and Gambit) Spoiler: are you fucking kidding me? katana arms? fucking seriously? I really liked Reynolds as Wade Wilson at the beginning and if they make a deadpool spinoff it BETTER completely ignore this piece of shit movie The Wrestler: 10/10 Fantastic. I missed you, Mickey. |
Star Trek 8/10
Fun movie, solid acting and great effects. Pretty much washed the bad taste that Wolverine left in my mouth. Chris Pine makes a great smug asshole, and I mean that in a good way. Looking forward to the sequels. |
Star Trek: 11/10. Awesome movie, had everything, comedy, action, some fantastic lines (Oooh, I'd love to get my hands on her ample nacelles!), a little interspecies romance (Spock and Uhura, who'd have figured?), great story about how the crew ends up together, excellent chemistry between Spock and Kirk. I wasn't too sure about the revision of the Trek-verse, but now that I've seen it, it's a whole new ballgame. Bring on the sequels!
|
Taken - 8/10
Liam Neeson was such a bad ass in this movie. I liked most of the things in this movie. My only minor complain is that every thing works too damn well for Liam Neeson. He's damn near omnipotent in the movie. |
Taken 8/10
I agree with Kelly that Liam was a badass in this movie. Also watched S. Darko... Nuff Said.. |
I'll get to the theater for Star Trek soon. You guys make me jealous!
Wall E (for the second time) 10/10 - Cute flick, nice message (though not so subtle) and I actually felt some emotion for a nonexistent robot. |
Star Trek: I have to minus 5 points for the Nokia product placement so I can only give this one a 10 out of 10! "Are you out of your Vulcan mind!?" Classic. Bones was spot on. Best character of the bunch, for sure. I hoped for a little more onscreen time for Scotty but quality over quantity. They really messed with canon that's for sure. Not that it's a bad thing. Star Trek has always delved into time travel and sometimes you can't just "reset" things.
|
Eagle Versus Shark 7/10
A Kiwi Napoleon Dynamite. It was mildly entertaining. Happy Go Lucky 8.5/10 Directed by Mike Leigh. The first half hour was a bit boring, but by the end I enjoyed it. An interesting character study of a woman whose outlook is a overly positive. Barbarian Invasions 8.5/10 It won the academy award for best foreign film in 2003. A French film about an academic dying of cancer and his friends/family. It was interesting. |
The Wackness - 6.5/10
Feels like a movie I've seen before, but in a new flavor. Young dude meets old dude. Old dude has midlife crisis while young dude comes of age. The characters are all great, but there isn't anything here that you haven't seen in another movie. |
Teeth-8/10
Summary: A clever, yet disturbing film just because a select few individuals, who happen to be male, get their junk removed by a vagina with teeth. The movie didn't go in detail about how or why this girl had teeth in another part of her body, but provides the audience with an idea of the possible cause of the mutation. |

That's Why Man on Fire is a better movie, for me. Denzel had a lot less going for him. |
Star Trek: 10/10
I loved what they did with it. Highly enjoyable. My inner star trek geek was turned on the whole time. |

.5/10 for...fuck, uh.... Nope, guess it's 0. |
Star Trek - 9/10
Well done, for what it is. Do not expect any substantial science fiction thematic dilemma. This is a standard action movie set in space, but with enough characterization depth to make it a satisfying trip to the theater. This movie will not engage you beyond the most basic sensory receptors, but it does a number on the receptors it does engage. Spoiler: I felt like they over-used the old Spock. Choke - 8/10 I've tried to write this short review about 3 times now, but the more I try to explain it, the more I feel like I should be rating it a 3 or a 4. Well, I'm giving it an 8 anyways. I liked it. The acting is bad. The directing and editing suck. The screenplay was a hack job. The soundtrack (or lack thereof) detracts more than it enhances. Still, Chuck Palahniuk's story shines through it all. This was just a vehicle to deliver the plot of a book in movie form. And I liked it. |
Bottle Shock:
8/10. Excellent movie about the famous "Judgement of Paris" blind tasting that launched Napa Valley wines to the world. Alan Rickman does a stellar performance (as usual) as a British wine snob living in Paris, who travels to Napa expecting swill and discovers genius. Chris Pine plays hippie son to lawyer turned winemaker Bill Pullman, and Freddy Rodriguez turns in a great performance as a mexican worker at Pullman's Chateau Montelena vineyard with dreams of his own. the next night we rented (cause it was in the previews for Bottle Shock) Nobel Son which had some of the same cast as Bottle Shock, namely Alan Rickman as a incredibly egotistical (even for him) chemistry prof who wins the Nobel Prize, Bill Pullman as a detective with the barely concealed hots for Rickman's wife, and Eliza Dushku who played a bartender in Bottle Shock, but here plays an eccentric (and somewhat psycho) femme fatale/artist. I think IMDB summed the movie up better than I ever could: Quote:

Barton Fink 9/10
I've been wanting to see this movie for a while and turned on my TV the other day and big letters NEXT: Barton Fink.. Sweet! The Coen brothers are fantastic. They really know how to pull great performances from their actors. ---------- Post added at 09:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 AM ---------- Quote:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine = Complete shit fest.
|
Taken: Pretty good. Kept me interested, has the average amount of cheese/superhero accomplishments, but the end product is enjoyable. Neeson's still got it.
|
Milk - 9/10
Enjoyable, inspirational. A little long. |
Fanboys-9/10
This movie was delayed and the script was almost rewritten because the studio execs didn’t like the story line. Sadly, the movie was in and out of the theater within a week and then it vanished until today when it finally was released on DVD. The story is about five friends traveling to Lucas Ranch to steal the first Star Wars movie for their friend who has cancer. If you or anyone you know is a Star Wars fan, then you will definitely enjoy this movie because the main subject is about Star Wars. Not only that, but several actors that were in the original Star Wars movie make an appearance and provide us with amusing quotes that reference the three films made back in the 70’s-80s. And if you are a fan of Kristen Bell, then you will definitely like her roll in this film because not only is she a Star Wars fan girl, but plays a comic book nerd and wears the princess Leia slave costume at the end of the film. |
Get Smart - 7/10
I watched this really late at night, which may have made me more susceptible to its brand of humor. I enjoyed it and laughed a lot. There were plenty of corny moments that I couldn't appreciate, but it surprised me with its quality. |
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead - 5/10
The directing and pacing is flat. The story is loose. This, all while trying to be substantial. Nothing bothers me more than a movie that tries to be catchy, but fails. I really can't stand Ethan Hawke. Albert Finney does nothing special. Marisa Tomei shows her boobs again... 3 times. Philip Seymour Hoffman is great though. Slumdog Millionaire - 8/10 I want Freida Pinto in my life. What can I say about this movie that hasn't been said? It was a nice way for a story to come together, but I find it hard to accept so many entertaining twists as anything more than blatant fiction. Too many of those and you have to feel like you were just fed cinematic Prozac. Quantum of Solace - 9/10 Lives up to its full potential as an action movie. I like the thuggish Bond. A lot of people criticized the movie because he uses brute force in favor of cunning, but I find it perfectly acceptable. Consider that this movie takes place only minutes after Casino Royale ends, we're still looking at a rookie secret agent. Give it another movie before he starts using his brains more than his muscle. |
What We Do Is Secret 10/10
I was very skeptical to see the guy from A Walk To Remember play Darby Crash, but, god damn, he pulled it off well if you ask me. Bijou Phillips was incredible as Lorna Doom also, but i already knew that would happen. The Germs have always provoked a certain brand of emotion from me and this movie captured them perfectly. I truly believed I was watching The Germs on screen, not actors. |
Terminator: Salvation - 5/10
It was an action flick, nothing groundbreaking really. I was entertained by gunfire and explosions, which is what I've come to expect of the summer movie season. Lots of throwbacks to the original in the form of cheesy dialogue and a familiar face... I'd recommend it if you want lots of yelling, a post-apocalyptic world with random things on fire, and camera perspectives through the eyes of several different Terminators. |
Tape - 7/10
I don't really know what to say about this one. It was very ambiguous and for a movie with only 3 actors and a shady hotel as the only set, it kept my attention throughout. I still don't know what to think about it... |
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 7/10
This movie accomplished some interesting things for being just "Ok." First of all, I managed to pay attention for the whole movie (almost 3 hours!) and then I was very impressed with its visuals. However, this is no Forrest Gump. The movie teaches us nothing about morality or ourselves.. even though it sounds like it was trying to. Its basically just a 3 hour study into the advances of computer graphics. |
Star Trek 4/5
Emotional moments that make it great for a date and lots of skillfully wrought action will make Star Trek a hit for almost anyone. If you think about it the story hangs together well. A lot of the Star Trek Universe has changed though, from the alien-looking alien crew mixed in everywhere to a different world view on the part of the writers. This movie is clearly intended to appeal to a broad, modern audience. A few changes to the main characters may bother fans, like Spoiler: Bones being fairly unemotional, Spock not having much scientific curiosity or Kirk fighting poorly. Bones is a solid likeable doctor character in the movie though. This may actually be my favorite version of Spock because he was more complex and realistic. Kirk annoyed me a bit; he is still brave and thinks on his feet but he gets his ass kicked a LOT. In spite of this it should be very enjoyable for fans; you will look forward to seeing where they take this story. Plus there are a million fun quotes and visual references that only fans will catch. Overall, I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a well executed, light movie. In addition it will be an odd but enjoyable treat for fans. |
Terminator Salvation 5/10
Wasn't Horrible, Wasn't spectacular. It was loud as hell and had some good action scenes but that's about it. |
Terminator Salvation: 7.5/10. Pretty good, but not as good as #1 or Star Trek. I found it jumps around a lot from scene to scene, sometimes not making much sense along the way. John Connor is in a sort of laboratory environment being chased by Arnie, all of a sudden, next scene, he's in a sort of factory environment and not being chased or shot at. Did the machine just give up, or did it get lost between scenes?
|
Changeling 8/10
This movie pissed me off but Angelina with that short-ish hair and those vintage hats. |
seven pounds 7/10
interesting story, interesting screenplay. sad movie. |
Star Trek - 8/10
The opening segment was the best in the movie, imo. |
Terminator Salvation: 6/10.
Nothing will beat the second Terminator movie, I think. But the effects in this one were great, and I enjoyed the plot line. Didn't appreciate having my ears violated though. They rang all night, still ringing actually. Its as if I went to a concert. Too loud, much too loud. My poor ears... :( |
Star trek 7-10 ,zombie stippers 5-10 stupidly funny ,reservation road 8-10.
|
The Reader - 3.5/4 stars
This movie was really good but fell short for me in the last 30 minutes or so. It didn't quite accomplish what it was going for, but it was still way above most movies. Great performances by Ralph Fiennes, Kate Winslet, and David Kross. This movie does contain plot events about the holocaust, WWII, and a relationship between a 15 year old boy and a 35 year old woman, but none of these is what the movie is about despite what the rest of the world says. It's about what goes on in the human mind when forced to choose humility or responsibility. |
Role Models - 8/10
A real funny movie. It was very formulaic (aren't they all?) but it managed to be competent and enjoyable. |
Terminator 7 /10 Was pleasantly surprised with the depth of Marcus character. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would, the action scenes were well done, and I wonder how many more times Bale can act with someone missing the left side of their face.

Hubby had knee surgery and was laid up in bed for awhile, so we watched quite a few movies:
The Wrestler - 4/5 - Mickey Rourke was fantastic, the story was good but a little depressing. Overall enjoyable. Milk - 4.5/5 - Sean Penn and James Franco were both awesome. The story was depressing - it really stuck with me and I thought a lot about the movie the next day. It's discouraging that the same tired arguments are being used 30 years later. Star Trek - 4.5/5 - I'm NOT a Star Trek fan and I'm not a sci-fi fan in general, but I'm definitely a fan of this movie. It was fun from start to finish. The only quibble I have is Winona Ryder - she sucked, IMO. Knowing - 0/5 - The movie was very formulaic, but it wasn't absolutely horrible until the ending. The ending pissed me off and ruined any chance of the movie not totally sucking. Australia - 2.5/5 - The story was ok, the acting was ok, Hugh Jackman was hot, it was a little on the long side. Worth watching, but definitely a renter. Valkyrie - 2.5/5 - Tom Cruise didn't totally suck, which surprised me. Because the movie was based on a true story and I already knew the plot failed, the attempts at suspense were somewhat amusing. It was decent though, and fairly entertaining. Frost/Nixon - 4/5 - I knew nothing of the story before renting it other than the movie was based on real events, but it was engaging and the acting was very good by all parties involved. It probably didn't have the impact on me that it would for my parents, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. |
The last movie I saw was Step Brothers. It was kind of stupid, but I grew up with a step brother, and we shared a room from when I was seven till when I was twelve. It brought back some nice memories of how we were when we first met and first started sharing a room.
|
Frost/Nixon - 8/10
I really liked the idea of a mental battle between two opponents, but I felt like it was executed rather clumsily. Excellent acting, but this could have been an epic movie if the writers didn't cop out by stealing a plot device from a high school movie. Spoiler: Hot shot skates through school until it becomes apparent to him that he needs to shape up and start studying in order to pass the final exam. Seen that movie before? |
Frost/Nixon 6/10
I didn't care about the whole "high school movie plot device" as you call it. It was all kinda dull to me, honestly. The only thing I really enjoyed were some off camera back and forth between Nixon and Frost. How could you not be thrown off your game if the president asked you if you got laid the night before 2 seconds before the camera started rolling. |
The Conformist 7/10
Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. Beautifully shot, but dull. |
Blindness 4/10
Maybe it's because I was wanting more depth or meaning from this film, but I found it really disappointing. Basically, People start going blind for no reason with one character that it immune to the disease gets put into quarantine with all the infected/blind people. It seems like the movie SHOULD have a message about human nature or morality or whatever but there's really nothing to learn from the movie. I kept thinking of the old saying "In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king." but I felt that the only character in the film with sight was almost useless. Sure she helped out a little but she absolutely didn't live up to her potential. |
UP (in 3D)- 10/10
I was laughing my ass off the entire movie. If you know me, it is very hard to get me to laugh, but this movie tickled my funny bone just right. This isn't like those lame "adult pop culture reference mixed in with kid content" movies... the humor is all good natured. The story is fun and the animation is very entertaining. Pixar is full of really talented people. This movie should be a bonus if you love dogs. I actually hate dogs and I liked the dog parts, but I know one friend of mine who would absolutely die if he saw it. Spoiler: The cone of shame! |
Thanks for the review on UP Halx. my friends and I see a movie every tuesday in the summer...UP is tomorrow. I wasn't sure if it was worth seeing based on the trailer.
Sounds worth a watch :) |
Just watched UP. 10/10 for sure.
Beginning really tugged at the heartstrings (I think the last time I was brought to tears from an animation film was Beauty and the Beast when I was a kid lol!), but gosh it was very funny. Kevin is the greatest (my friend's fiance Kevin will always have that reference now), and like Halx, I really don't like dogs, but I enjoyed the dog parts immensely. Spoiler: nothing made me laugh harder than those dogs going bonkers for the tennis balls, and saying POINT! when gesturing to something. That Star Wars reference made me giggle too. The short animation before the film, "Partly Cloudy," was the sweetest most adorable thing I've ever watched. I don't think I've ever audibly "aww" 'ed as many times as I did during that short. Pixar shorts are always awesome. |
Taken 8/10
another Luc Besson film. Really enjoyed it. Bottleshock 7/10 an interesting tale about the rise of California wines onto the world stage. |
Revolutionary Road - 6/10
Directed by Sam Mendes, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. A 50s couple unhappy with their lives in the suburbs. Heavy melodrama, lots of DRAMA!. It has been done before and better in movies like Far From Heaven and Mendes' earlier film American Beauty. It has also been done better in television like Mad Men. ---------- Post added at 10:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 AM ---------- Quote:

up 10/10
Pixar has created it's most emotionally complex and sympathetic character. A more mature and satisfying film than their past films but enjoyable by the whole family. |
UP 8/10
Pretty much echoing what has already been said. I don't think that this one is flashy enough for small children or anyone with ADD. Not saying that it's a bad thing. To me, parts of the movie had a similar theme to Monster House, which I thought was a terrible movie. But for everything that Monster House did wrong, Pixar does right with UP. On a side note, I actually saw the movie twice in the past 2 days, once in 3-d and once in 2-d. I usually enjoy 3-d viewing a great deal, but for this film it did not enhance the viewing whatsoever. So I would suggest saving yourself the extra $3-$5 and just see the regular version. Edited to add: FYI there is nothing interesting after the credits, so no need to wait. |
The International - 2/10
Caught this movie on my flight. I was sort of offended to see Clive Owen and Naomi Watts droning their lines to such a terrible script. So bad. |
Star Trek 8/10
I think this is an incredible movie. It's very well put together and thoroughly entertained me throughout. The only qualm I have is Spoiler: the whole alternate reality thing. I tried to stay away from anything about the movie before I saw it and I thought it was going to be the original story of how the crew got together. I was a bit disappointed with where they went with it. Taken 6/10 This is one of those movies that I enjoy watching the first time I do, and then when it's over I never have to see it again. There's plenty of ass kicking and great action scenes, but when all's said and done it feels very anti-climactic. Marley & Me 9/10 Granted, I've always been a sap for mushy tales about man's best friend, but this was just such a good movie. I fell in love with that big dumb dog just as much as the character's did. |
The Hangover 9/10
Zach Galifianakis is my hero. Enough said. |
Gran Torino 9/10
Excellent Film. There was some great lines in this movie. It gives you the impression that Eastwood's character in this film is just as much of a badass as he was in Dirty Harry. "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have fucked with? That's me." The International: Meh, This was such a boring movie. I liked the assassin dude, everyone else in the movie sucked. |
Live Free Or Die Hard - 9/10
Seen it before and own the DVD. One of my favorite movies. |
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey 10/10
I'm a fuckin sap for talking animal movies. It helps when they're voiced by great talent like Don Ameche, Michael J. Fox and Sally Field. Speaking of Don Ameche, I think I'm going to watch a few of his other films next. |
Up - 9.5/10 - Can't ever go wrong with a Pixar movie.
|
Sex Drive - 8/10
Alright its kind of a American Pie feeling film but I laughed. The language is pretty back but you expect it with flicks like these. |

Friday the 13th 1/10
This remake was boring as hell. It's not even up to par with the most recent Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. |
Drag Me To Hell-8/10
This film is an in-your-face horror that provides you with enough gore, vomit inducing events and paranoid thoughts for the next several days to definitely want to watch this film again. The only tip I can give you is to stay away from old ladies that look like they are able to curse you and seem to posses super fighting powers. |
Up - 9/10
Went to see this with some friends and gf yesterday. Really sweet movie and lots of funny moments. Everything was great except for the famed adventure guy, who I thought wasn't explained very--SQUIRREL!! |
Moon - 8/10. I love - LOVE - thinking sci fi movies. Highly recommended.
|
Another 9/10 for Up. I won't go into detail was to why it wasn't 10. Let's just say there were a few things that didn't click enough for me. Solid movie, regardless. Now I need to see Wall-E.
guy, I'm glad you liked Moon. I'm looking forward to seeing it myself. |
9/10 for UP. I didn't think I would like this movie, but it got to me.
8/10 for Star Trek. I laughed though the whole thing. I knew right away it was Bones when they first introduced him. |
The Hangover - 9/10
Really great comedy, one of the best that I have seen in a long, long time Taken - 7.5/10 I really enjoyed this too, watched it for the second time. He makes it look a tad bit easy, but a great action flick. Max Payne - 2/10 What the hell?!?! Thats all I have to say about this movie. It gets 2 points because that girl in the beginning is hot. Star Trek - 10/10 Hot damn this movie was great! |
the hangover 10/10 -
yeah, i'm giving it a perfect score. it begins with a danzig song, so that right there starts it out ahead of the game. the storyline is interesting, characters are interesting and hilarious, great soundtrack, it's incredibly funny without looking like it's trying too hard, zach galifinakis is one of the best comedians around today (tigers like pepper. they hate cinnamon), and it ends with the "pictures from their night" which was hilarious. from start to finish, and everywhere in between it was a great movie. it did it's job, it took me out of reality and i was so caught up in the movie i forgot where i was and what i was gonna do for the rest of the day. great movie. |
Finally watched "Twilight" and I liked it much more than I expected, so I'd say 4 outta 5 *stars*. It would be beyond HOT if it wasn't made for tweens but it was quite enjoyable since the two stars had some nice chemistry.
Kinda nostalgic in a weird vampy way.... |
Synecdoche, New York - 8.5/10
This is one you're gonna either love or hate. Count me in as a lover. I would have scored even higher but the brilliant script takes the viewer to some very uncomfortable places. I saw it yesterday and can't stop thinking about it. If you loved Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich, check this one out. |
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas 7/10.
It's no Schindler's List but a decent film. Films like this always leave me thinking why the hell do people do such things to other people. Word of warning this is (was) not the feel good movie of the year. I wouldn't watch this while depressed. |
Up (not in 3-D thankfully)
So I finally got around to watching this, and I really wasn't sure how Pixar was going to make a movie about an old man flying around in his house as a full on movie. At first glance it seemed like it would be a great idea for one of their pre-movie shorts (btw the pre-movie short for Up is fantastic) not a full on movie. I was wrong. This is without a doubt in my mind the funniest, and yet most moving movie that Pixar has made to date. During the opening montage I found myself blinking away tears, Spoiler: I never thought I'd see a miscarriage in an animated picture, yet Pixar makes it have more impact in 30 seconds than most movies do in two hours and yet later on I had tears again because there were several points in the movie that I found so funny I couldn't stop laughing. I loved the fact that while it was made for kids it didn't talk down to them and assume that the only thing kids will find funny is fart jokes. This, in my opinion is the very best that Pixar has made to date. 5/5 Oh and on last thing I'd like to comment on is the dogs. Forget every other talking dog movie that has ever come out THIS is what dogs would sound SQUIRREL!!!.... what dogs would sound like if they could talk. |
The Rocker - 3/10
It had a few pretty funny parts, but just a few. But most of it was just horrible. How can he go from being in a rock band to being in an Emo band? |
Medea Goes to Jail: The Movie ... 5/10
Parts were funny....I miss Perry's plays, they were great... Oh, and Up ... 10/10 |
Up - 8.5/10.
Now, I might be scoring it lower as I took my little 4 year old to see it (her first movie theatre experience!) and had to stop and explain a few things along the way. But damn, I had a lump in my throat that first 15 or 20 minutes. Never been moved by an animated movie so much since I was a kid and those bastards shot Bambi's mother! |

Under The Sand (Sous le sable) - 7/10
An unpretentious and interesting tale of grief , Charlotte Rampling's performance carries the film. If you love her, see it. |
Band of Brothers - 15/10
Okay it is not really a movie, but its not really a TV series either, its a miniseries. And seeing as I marathoned it just now and watched the whole thing in roughly 2 sittings I will consider it a movie. Absolutely amazing, just incredible. It follows the journey of The 101st airborn infantry unit (Easy Company) through their landing on Dday until the end of WWII. |
Ultimate Avengers (cartoon movie) 8.5/10
I love this movie, this is probably the 4th time I have seen it. Very funny narrative, excellently done. Its about an hour and ten long, its easy to squeeze it in your day, I highly recommend it! |

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen 5/10
Much like the first one, this movie was half and half for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the half that actually involved machine-on-machine brutalization, explosions, and noise. Spoiler: Especially when Optimus owns the FUCK out of Megatron at the end! Visually, it's incredible. Then there's the other half... The silly, drama filled, chick flick side. I'm sorry, I don't give a flying fuck about this dweeby dude, Spoiler: his college experience, or how he cheats on his girlfriend (who's way too hot for him, anyhow) with a robot. Oh, and seriously with all the fart and ball jokes, racial stereotypes, and old people based sexual innuendo?! This shit's not funny, just blow something the fuck up, please! |
Outlander (Not to be confused with the 1981 Sean Connery movie Outland) 7 out of 10
Outland is a pretty darn good unknown SF/Fantasy/Action/Thriller. Its about the inhabitants of a spacecraft that crashes in Norway in 700 AD. It's kind of like 13th Warrior/Predator/Beowulf/Pitch Black. Sure, it borrows from all of these movies, but the solid acting and great FX make it well worth a watch. |
I went and seen the new Transformers movie two days ago. Not at all as good as the first. Also was not something for all ages. Transformers was made for kids, but this last movie had a lot of jokes I wouldn't like my daughters to watch.
|
Eastern Promises - 7/10
A little gory for my taste, but the story was compelling and well acted. I shoulda known with Cronenberg directing. For me a 7, but for most I'd give it an 8. |
Terminator Salivation: 9/10 Holy schnikees Ithought this movie rocked start to finish. Not like any of the other Terminator movies....gritty, violent, serious, fast paced, awesome special effects, vehicles, robots etc. Spoiler: My jaw hit the floor when those 2 cyclebots popped out of the giant robot and drove down its freakin legs.

My Name Is Bruce: 6.5/10
Bruce Campbell is an anomaly, in that he's a B movie actor who has a huge fan following. After two bestsellers he's decided to try his hand at directing it seems, and the result is something that one can only describe as Campbellesque. So I suppose if his objective was to create an adjective, he can strike that off his to-do list. The plot is fairly straightforward: Bruce Campbell plays a caricature of himself, a washed-up, hard-drinking, womanizing B movie actor. A group of teenagers fooling around somewhere they shouldn't accidentally release an evil homicidal spirit, and for some reason that's never really explained Bruce is chosen to fight it. If this sounds familiar, you are officially the target audience. The film's greatest stumbling block is that it's an intentional effort to create the so-bad-it's-good cheesiness that was a huge part of Evil Dead's success. It manages to get some laughs in, but feels rather forced at times. The film is clearly intended for fans of the star, and is liberally dosed with references to his prior work. As such, it's likely to be completely lost on anyone who isn't familiar with his resume, but then one would have to wonder why anyone who isn't a fan would watch the film to begin with. Overall I found it to be an entertaining film, though hardly monumental. I recorded it on the PVR on a whim, and was not disappointed, but my feelings might've been different if I'd paid to rent it. If you have read and enjoyed If Chins Could Kill and/or Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way, you'll probably enjoy this. If you haven't, or if you don't have the entire Evil Dead trilogy on your DVD shelf, you can safely skip this one. |
Year One...... I knew it would be stupid, but....
Ok, it's my fault. I went to see it, but only because I needed a laugh after all the crap in the world. I was so pissed. No laughs, nothing remotely amusing. The 20 year olds with a 12 year old brain giggled a little. |
Dan in Real Life
I think it was a really good movie. It was a funny and cleaver movie. It is a good movie about parenting. |
Transformers 2
8/10.. no 9/10.. yeah... You don't watch a Michael Bay film for the plot and you sure as hell don't expect it to win any acting awards. You watch it for the action and this movie had plenty of it. It was cheesy as hell. I don't get how Mudflap and Skids were racist stereotypes. I thought they were hilarious and they kicked some ass. I enjoyed the cheap laughs and the low brow humor. The only things I didn't like is that it had a few characters they could have ditched and nobody would have missed them and it ended kind of abruptly. I'm glad I didn't listen to the critics. I'm not saying you'll like it, just saying I did. |
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian 4/10
Pretty much more of the same from the 1st one. Some Cons: Hank Azaria (who I normally like) and his horrendous lispiness. Jonah Hill - Who I think is just one of the unfunniest dudes around. Frikin' Jonas Brothers Some Pros: The Einstens were pretty cute Amy Adam's ass http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/230...sbx0001a53.jpg |

Quantum Of Solace - 5/10
The slowest and worst Bond film of them all. I should have known when evening the opening song and titles weren't exciting. The editing was horrid as well. Craig was good, the girls were cute . When my favorite part was the driving backwards scene and the no-parachute landing and it doesn't even sound like a Bond film. |
Night at the Museum II 5/10
I liked the first one, but was surprised that I did. This one didn't work as well for me. Maybe I was just in a funk? The fact they had the AC on down to where i could see my breath and the sound up loader then the last AC/DC concert I saw may have played a part too. |
Elegy - 8/10
I totally loved this story of a relationship. I kept thinking it was going to go all melancholy, but it maintained its integrity. I even enjoyed both Kingsley and Cruz in these roles. Taken - 7/10 Great suspense, tired story. Liam's hot when he's kicking ass. |
The Hangover 9/10
The idea has been done before just a drunken night gone bad but it was very funny; I couldn't stop laughing. Its a need to watcher at least once. |
Very Bad Things 8/10
1998 movie very funny, alot of crazy things happen, i would recommend watching it |
He's Just not that in to You
I liked it, a good chick flick. I think I seen Punk.of.Ages crying. I think he liked it more then the new Transformers, his favorite movie. |
I do have a soft spot for chick flicks...
*tear* Seriously, though, of course I liked that movie more than Transformers. That movie didn't rape my childhood heroes with a ninety foot pole. Plus, Scarlett Johansson is waaaaaaaaay hot! |
Transformers 2 - 6/10 - Just like the first movie, cool special effects, cool robots, shaky camera, bad acting... this time lame plot and storyline.
|
Seven Pounds - 7/10
It was a great movie, I would have given it something higher, but I spent the first hour completely confused about what was going on. But I must admit I was happy when I figured it out before the other people I was watching with did. |
Knowing 6/10
I wanted to like this one, and I did like the first few acts. The last half hour or so really went in the wrong direction though. I really don't see how Roger Ebert gave this movie 4/4 stars. That man is off his rocker. |
