They are going to handwave something. Me, being the overly obsessed fan that I am, will eat the shit sandwich I am handed, enjoy it, and continue watching. |

If nothing else, his story lines show that through with 10. I will ask them to provide sources and edit this post when I find out. Edit: Those that have answered my question said that they do not have but suggestions in his story lines and his remarks in commentaries and Confidentials about the importance of relationships. The latest episode, Midnight, is another filler plot to me that RTD writes before his "extravaganza" finales. I can't say I'm disappointed because I expected it to be bad. If that wasn't shades of The Hand of Fear, I'm not sure what is. |
Nothing new. I had to explain to a friend what a Dalek was and I found this on an image search:
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/ge...-o-lantern.jpg There are some others I found... NSFW... weird. |
That's good to hear about Moffat taking over...
Moffat has written some of my favorite episodes. Let's hope that the quality of his work doesn't suffer for the schedule imposed, eh? |
well to catch up....Wasnt that jazzed on part one of the Library, the "spoilers" bit was a bit too repetitious for me, but part 2....LOVED part two
Midnight....could have done without that one it was pretty weak IMO BUTSpoiler: the doctor lite epi coming up with Rose looks interesting I cant believe there are only 3 more epi's left!! |
Yay! I just got introduced to Doctor Who and I love it, I want to watch more and see the old series! Thank you Hain!
|
Because I once again have free time: The Doctor's name, what is it?
I have had some ideas since they keep repeating in the new series that his name is a guarded secret, or it is more than a secret. The only incorrect reference I remember was Drax from the Armageddon Factor calling the Doctor "Pete" (he was actually calling Thete, short for his nickname from university days as Theta Sigma). So: names? Since the Doctor has nothing but bad luck following him I would have so say that his name can't be too good. Loki comes to mind. |
Really really enjoyed Turn Left!! ugh now I gotta wait for next week and we get Captain Jack woooohoooo
question: Spoiler: Dave and I noticed that Rose sounded REALLY funny when she talked, almost like she was talking with her mouth full...anyone else notice that? It was really annoying |
i have enjoyed it a lot...
|
@ ShaniFaye: I agree.
For a second there, I thought they were going for Muse's Apocalypse Please as the ending song of that episode. Looks like a no holds bar season finale for Doctor Who is coming over the horizon. "He’s like fire and ice and rage. He’s like the night, and the storm at the heart of the sun. He’s ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe" |
Shanni: If you look cosely at the last episode, you'll notice that Billie Piper seems to have had dental work - her top lip wasn't moving right, and he voice was odd.
Hain: The Doctor's "real" name is such a secret that it's never been created. In the "confidential" for the library ep, Steve Moffatt confesed that he has no idea what the Doctor is actually called, and the director was asked to shoot the whispering scene so that you can't even tell how many sylables it is. The true name of a timelord is like the true name of a wizard on Earthsea - it gives one power over the timelord. |
okay, i watched this for the first time a few days ago. i must say, i wasn't disappointed the least bit. this show is quite excellent. i wish i would have given it a chance sooner.

Did you turn off the safe search?
|
Even with "moderate safesearch on", I got the Katy Manning one, but there ar still plenty that aren't NSFW?
I think you're just purposely picking out the NSFW ones. |

Those two episodes were fantastic. The best two hours I've spent doing...well, anything really in quite some time. Once I realized Moffat wrote them as well...it just makes me that much more excited to see Davies step down. I've been trying to catch up, but I think I'm going to watch those two again before moving on. |
And they wonder why people download instead of watching it on TV. Sci-Fi Channel may end up cutting 20+ minutes from this season's finale.

There will be only four specials next year with a new full season starting in 2010 (if I read correctly). RTD will help write these four specials and then be done. Moffet will still be overseeing everything starting with the four specials.
|
Oh my fucking word!
"Tha Stolen Earth" is one of the best episodes so far. If you onlyget sci-fi's cut down version, do yoursef a favour and find a way to watch the full version. Can't wait for next week. |
I cant' wait to see Richard Dawkins on Doctor Who.
Well, so that happened. Spoiler: I wonder who will replace Tennant. I must admit I was pissed that Eccleston was replaced or rather regenerated so quickly, but Tennant has done a brilliant job and really grew into the Chuck Taylors quite well. Who do you suppose could be next? |
Spoiler: You know I'm actually kinda upset. I really hate it when the doctor regens. I become so attached to the actor playing him that I really don't want to see them go. I loved Eccelston, but I think Tennant grew on me more.
Edit: I was just thinking, does anyone think its possible that Tennant may be returning for the next "season"? Is it possible that all this is another alt timeline since that albino woman told Donna she still had something on her back..? I was on IMDB and someone brought up a good point. Back when the Dr. and Donna went to Pompeii, Lucious said to Donna that she had something on her back, and this was long before the events of Turn Left. So I don't know what to think, just throwing it out there! |
I think your edit might be right, Church, but it could just be wishful thinking.
|
@ Church:
Spoiler: Does the woman tell Donna there is something or there was something on her back? Because if she said is, given what was said in Pompeii, yes this could all be an alternate universe. And I get pissed when he regenerates too! |
Spoiler: David Tennant is in next week's episode, and has already filmed the Christmas special, as well as signing up for several specials next year.
The "regeneration" therefore can't go through fully, or gets undone by a McGuffin - my bet is that it's something to do with the Doctor's living hand from "The Christmas Invasion". There's also the fact that the Medusa Cascade has been time stepped a second off reality, and that Dalek Caan broke into the time bubble that the Time War was trapped in - so it may well be that the entire story is in a non-universe. |
OMG what an awesome episode!! Spoiler: really could have done without rose's selfish bitch crap at the Noble's house though, but I guess thats what makes Rose, Rose. Also....LOVED the part with Donna pointing to Jack asking who he was lol......*sigh* I've missed Jack
I know David's ben filming stuff for future epi's so I cant wait to see how the story plays out Daniel, is it set to air next weekend? I know they arent showing one here because of the 4th but I dont see that messing up y'alls schedule oh and... Spoiler: did anyone watching the Confidential notice that Mickey and Jackie were sitting there next to the Doctor at the first read through? |
The episode is running next week, and it's an hour long - but last I heard Sci Fi US were set to run it down to 40 minutes.
And as for the cast on the final ep, there was a publicity shot that the BBC put out that shows everyone that was on screen in confidential, so it wasn't a total shock... |
Well since finding out sci fi is cutting all the epi's they play here I havent watched any that way. I heard the final epi is actually 65 minutes over there.
I cant wait im so excited!!!! Quote:
not that I give two figs for Richard Dawkins, but just as trivia did you know he's married to the 2nd Romana (she married him after marrying/divorcing Tom Baker) |

EDIT: You have no idea how loud I was cheering when I Spoiler: heard the Dalek, hoping it would shoot her just before she got to the Doctor. As Tom Baker's Doctor said after he dared not to destroy the Daleks before they were ever created, "While they are a great evil, I know there will be great good in time because of them." I was hoping for one of those great goods then... |
I just want it to be next saturday damn it!!
