1. Provide state of the art equipment for them to work on. 2. Do not blame them for the end users ignorance 3. Never assume that since things are going well that they must not have anything to do. If things are going well it is because they are working their butts off. 4. Caffiene 5. A weekly game time (WoW, Unreal Tournament etc.) to relieve stress. There are plenty of more ways but the above always worked well for the IT guys and programmers I've worked with. |

Well, this probably works well in any setting: but
Minimize red-tape and paperwork. Don't have a network manager-level person wasting their time with help-desk level issues. Show appreciation with "real value items" (dollars and time off), not friggin coffee-cups. Public praise/recognition. and as frogza already said, "Provide state of the art equipment for them to work on."

Okay, so how is this any different than your previous request? Sure, you're not taking someone else's words as your own, but now you want to steal other people's *ideas* because you don't have "time" to even make up a bullshit paper?
That's called intellectual piracy, and it's just as wrong as "outsourcing" your actual paper. In my opinion, you're lazy. You don't even know how to find research sources outside of Google? Are you serious? I'm going to echo a few other people on here who have had heavy work schedules and still managed to get their schoolwork done on time. I may be a procrastinator, in that I've pulled COUNTLESS all-nighters before a paper is due (and not always gotten great grades on them), but I'm no cheater. It's better to slam out a D-grade paper at the last minute, with your OWN IDEAS, than to EVER steal someone else's ideas or words.

slushi, you may or may not believe me, but there's this wonderful thing called a LIBRARY that has these things called books and these other things that are like books but are called journals because they have articles in them. And yes, they even have books and journals covering your research topic! /sarcasm

I dunno, it seems I've seen people ask for input for homework here before. And wouldn't this be considered a form of research? I mean, while I'd rather hope he (he?) doesn't take my words verbatum (he'd get a poor grade, that's for sure), it's still on him to generate a cohesive 15-page paper.
I think some are coming down a bit heavy with the wrath still...he's amended his ways, let's not bury the poor sod.

No, it is not research. I don't come on here asking everyone to research my news stories for me. Research is when YOU go to the original source material YOURSELF and process the information. It is NOT when you ask other people what they THINK the information is. We have a similar type of story technique in TV news. It's basically the same thing our friend is trying here. Rather than go get a real expert on the situation, they want us to go grab people on their way to lunch and ask them what they think about a topic. The bosses call it Man on the Street interviewing. We journalists call it Triple-A - Ask Any Asshole - because we get exactly what will be gotten out of this thread: A bunch of nonexperts who could be any profession in real life giving unsubstantiated opinions, and then this guy's gonna try and write a paper on it. I echo others' sentiments: Go to the library. It's a neat place. |

I acutally finishesd my paper today, just in time for my class tommorw. Thanks for checking in and passing the encouragment. I just woke up really early today went to the public library and managed my time well and it took me all day to complete but It was really important for me to do so even though there are so many other things you feel getting behind on.
All the librarians were really helpful. I went on Galieo's site which has many scholary journals from ProQuest that I could use/anyalize to critique. I know that there is no exueses for not doing my own homework - for me its all about Time Management and I also will be utilizing my calender more on my Treo phone to accomplish my tasks in a timely manner to allow time for all my impt school duties/work projects/house arrons. I learned a lot from this thread and pursing a MBA is no joke. Ive been told it is very demanding and I can attest to it. I just hope/want it to be a rewarding experience & will for sure now on make the best of it. |

Good job going to the library. ProQuest is one of your many friends to be found there.
So you are doing your MBA? What was your major in undergrad, and how did you manage to write all your papers back then without using a library? Just curious.
