As has been mentioned, use a lot of lube. I have also had best success with this after dildo play... and lots of lube. Speaking of lube, the whole area needs lubed as well as your entire hand, not just the labias. One mistake is to try to insert the thumb after you have worked up to four fingers when you actually want to fold the thumb across your palm before forming a fist to finally gain total insertion. I've been to a vaginal fisting seminar and even witnessed a live demonstration. Two Sexologists (Ph.D.) assured the class that the vagina will stretch back in a matter of hours.

As for knowing if your fist can fit in her vagina, best way to determine this is to go to an OBGYN. Ask them to measure the distance from the pelvic bone to the coccyx. (They have tools to measure these things for pregnancy to know if the baby's head will pass through without intervention.) If your fist is within that range, it's just a matter of maneuvering your fist properly. If your fist is larger in diameter/width than her pelvic bone to coccyx, I would not recommend trying fisting as you could puncture her vagina or rectum on the coccyx.

The vagina is a naturally elastic, it will eventually return back to normal. The most damage a vagina will get from fisting are small (read: nearly microscopic) scratches and tear from the fist, but I'll let you in on a secret: Sex makes the same kind of tears if you do it long enough. Wearing a glove will reduce the amount of scratches and scrapes.

Lots of lube. Trim your finger nails. Use gloves (less friction==longer time to play). Go slow, but if you're going to do it, you need to do all the stretching (it's a slow process) within the same evening otherwise the effort will go to waste. This may be obvious, but there are only two ways a fist will go into a vagina, palm up and down. There's a little bit of a rotating movement when you're fitting the thumb in. It doesn't just go straight in. You start out with your palm facing to the left or right (that will determine if you end up palm up or down). If I could remember more detail from the lecture, I'd tell you the "trick" because there is apparently a trick to fitting the thumb in.

The cervix, while they are connected, is not part of the vagina. The fist goes in the vagina. The cervix is the passageway from the uterus to vagina. Nothing but babies and menstrual fluids come out of a cervix (naturally speaking, anyways). Have any of you had any measure of sucess? I can get to my palm without my thumb folded down. When I fold down my thumb I can't get past my second thumb nuckle. Is there a rotation that makes it easier? We've been working up slowly over the last few weeks. Initially I could not get 4 fingers in so we are makeing headway. I just seems the next step is larger than the ones to date.

As for the "well it's big enough to fit a baby through" - a woman's body goes through changes during pregnancy, including the loosening of the vaginal muscles and widening of the pelvis due to hormones. This takes place over months, not in an evening.

You are thinking of the cervix. The vagina does not dilate. It is forced open as the baby comes out, and it usually tears.

Someone needs to make a sticky explaining this, I have heard more people talk about how "my dick/hand/dildo can't be too big, a baby fits through there!" than I ever wanted to hear.

Bloody hell. Surely - when a baby is born there are other processes assisting.

The way I understand it - womens ligaments loosen or something during pregnancy, allowing the bones which are attached and form the pelvis some additional flexibility. I'm probably wrong... but yeah, I'm sure that there's a bunch of mechanisms that kick in during birth (some of which are understood medically and some which are undiscovered).

After all, the body has months to prepare for it.

That's not to belittle your question. I just don't think that this would be comparable to birth.

Well, we had some success. I got my hand in beyond all my knuckles and thumb but ran out of room to proceed deeper. Even with my fingers curled I seemed to be hitting the back wall. I have a couple of tips, but I can't honestly say that I've ever been successfully fisted. I intend on it sometime, but I gave up quite quickly before.

* Use thin latex gloves, practically soaked in lube.
* Make a "duck" with your hand. That's close to the shape you want to enter with.
* Draw your thumb into your fist, You're carressing her with the shape of your hand, not punching her insides.
* make sure her legs are in a good position. Something like how they put them up for a pap is good, but make sure she's still comfortable.
* Give it time. This will take a while.

As for perennial massage, it's not yoga instructors per se... my wife's doctor (OB/GYN) recommended the same thing, as did our Lamaze instructor. Also, the girl at the tea and herb shop as well. I think it's a pretty common concept these days and should probably apply here as well, to some degree.

I have friends who have spoken of their fisting experiences and a couple have found it easy yet one never succeeded, but personally i can't see the attraction, and as for " a baby fits so why not a fist?" i keep thinking ... my last child = 12 stitches and dislocated hips !!!
