I was at a dance the other night and grinding with some girl, when I wondered whether guys are supposed to get an erection while grinding. I found the girl attractive, but when I start dancing (aka fairly strenuous physical activity), my body um, allocates the blood elsewhere.

What are your experiences? Male & female input appreciated

In my opinion I think it's to be expected. After all, the girl is grinding you to get your attention, right? I think if you're getting hard while she's grinding you, then essentially you're giving her a compliment, and every girl likes a compliment here and there.

The general consensus is that many girls like it. It should be expected, and the only time I've heard a girl getting turned off or grossed out by it is when a random guy just starts dancing with them. Usually the gross-out is if the guy has a hard-on before they even start dancing.

There was one time when I was studying abroad in Germany, when after sharing a couple of beers with a girl (approx 2 liters of beer to be more precise) during a summer Bavarian style festival, I went to get another beer and when I returned she was dancing on a table. She saw me returning with another half liter of beer and beckoned me up on the table with her. I don't remember what song the cover band was playing but we were both dancing on the table when she just backs up and starts grinding away. Yes, I had the reaction she intended down there, and yes, we also both knew that she was just having some fun. How did I know she was just doing it because she liked doing it? First, her boyfriend was standing 5 feet away and second, she was my German culture teacher for the study abroad trip.

By the way, I got an A+ in her class.

I've had girls put their hands down there and grab... so, I am gonna say that some of them really like it.

In fact, most cases I think the girl enjoys the 'power trip.'

However, girls don't want to feel it unless they intended to bring it up.

As for the OP, as long as you're not walking up to a girl looking like someone just pitched a tent in your pants, you'll be OK. Women know exactly what they're doing when they're grinding their butt-crack into your groin. I suspect that more than a few women would be disappointed if you didn't show signs of interest.

It depends on the dance club. Some dance clubs seem to be less grinding than others. One I went to had mostly easy aka normal dancing where no one touches much and most people do their dance in their area near their friends. Another one was gay friendly and I saw men grinding men and women grinding women and 3 somes and 4 somes grinding. Sometimes you can tell it is friendship grinding and sometimes it is foreplay for sex later. You never know until later I guess. Enjoy the moment and try not to have your hard on rub against your metal zipper. Yowch ! Anyway, since I am 39, I love it when people grind on me and I then often grind on them to keep things equal. *smile* When I was younger, my erection was easy to show up while grinding, but now, I don't often get as hard since I have seen and felt grinding so many times. I try to go dancing 14 times a year for no real reason but exercise, and then once you are there, the music and the skin showing begin to make the night have a whole different meaning. (^:

An interesting read. I have seen a bit of 'grinding' even in our small town hangout sometimes. Things don't seem to go over well if a guy initiates it, even if I've seen them dance together before. But guys don't seem to mind women initiating it. I say this because they put their hands in the air and smile.

I can't tell you my experience, because I don't dance in public anymore. To say that I'm not a good dancer would be like saying Rhudolph's nose has a little bit of a glow. Definite understatement. I suck. Last time I danced in public, it wasn't pretty. I tried warning my would-be dance partner that I can't dance, but he talked me into it. He told me after the song that I don't dance too badly..."just don't drink so much first next time..." I was too embarassed to admit that I'd only been drinking diet soda. (I was the designated driver.) Maybe someday I'll learn to dance.
