Ann Coulter can kiss my hairy white ass
OK that subject line is gonna get this post deleted, but come on, it's funny. Mods, do me a favor and just change the subject if you feel a need, I really want to discuss the subject.
I watched Bill Maher's show, who I will happily agree is a bit a lune himself. But this Ann Coulter chick is absolutely ridiculous. They were talking about enforced airlines. She said, "Could you imagine if the Arabs get a hold of that?" That's horrible! Way to go helping Americans show we can tell the difference between a billion+-person race a relatively tiny percentage of psychos. A "learned" "author" should not make a mistake like this. I suppose I should henceforth refer to the KKK as "the Whites." Then she continued to go on saying liberals have unfulfilling sex and are a generally immoral and adulterous bunch and likened them to Europeans which, I think by context, was somehow intended as a bad thing. I have two questions for the TFPublic: 1) Does she really believe the things that are coming out of her head. 2) Does she represent a substantial voice in America? |

Anne Doulter. I would fuck Anne Coulter. Once. There her usefulness ends.
She's nice to look at in a girlfriend from beyond the grave sort of a way, but the drivel she spouts is so completely nonsensical that she should use her mouth only and entirely for fellatio, since she obviously hasn't eaten anything since the Regan Administration.

Coulter is in a league of her own (pardon the expression) when it comes to ideology. Even most conservatives I talk with disavow support of her politics, but always are quick to note that she has her counterparts on the left.
After 9/11, for instance, she stated publicly that we should 'invade muslim nations, kill their leaders, and convert them all to Christianity' as a safety measure. Even if she was being facetious, that's pretty misguided rhetoric. In her latest book effort, she extolls the virtues of Joe McCarthy, and accuses anyone who supports a non-conservative policy as guilty of treason. Charming girl.

She seems almost as ignorant as Janeane Garafulo.
I don't really mean ignorant, I just mean.. both of them are notorious question dodgers and they call everyone or everything an act of treason or in Janeane's case, a vast right wing conspiracy. |

May I kiss your hairy white ass? Do you have any pics of it in the Exhibition forum? May I squeeze it like a melon beforehand to be reassured of its freshness?

No doubt she's a bit of a nut but there are PLENTY of off the wall Liberal authors as well. Perhaps if those attacking her were to also attack the off the wall beliefs of some of their own I'd be more inclined to see them as being fair and balanced (Fox please don't sue me.)

Yeah, Ann Coulter is off the wall, even I stare at her and think "Huh?". She doesn't represent the views of Americans, because I don't agree with a lot of stuff she says, and I'm about as conservative as some get.

No, I personally won't change the title of the post, but it doesn't help promote reasonable discussion, it just encourages bipartisan rhetoric and name calling. (Something we've had FAR too much of in "Politics" lately, IMO.)
To your point however, while I agree with some of what she says, some of it is out there for me. And, no, I don't believe she is in the majority.

I have always said we need to have people on the extremes to help formulate ideas. It is commonly the radicals, be they to the left or the right, that spark new ideas. These ideas are then sifted down to the center where they become less radical and more mainstream.
This being said, most of the wackos on the left are not on every friggin talkshow and do not have bestselling books. Ann Coulter has a great publisist and the ear of the folks at FOX News and that is what concerns me. Most of her ideas are justifiable if you buy the concervative line, but she can't seem to stop herself and slides into complete delerium. All liberals are traitors, all arabs must go etc... No, she does not represent the majority of Americans, but she most definitely is having an effect on American politics and conservative ideology. Conservatives should be wary, take it from the Libs, we allowed to many of our nuts to become mainstream and it damaged what being a liberal or a Democrat means.

Gotta disagree about her having an effect on conservative politics though since anything that goes a little too far left or righ doesn't play with most Americans. She's a good guest on shows because she throws out some wacky ideas that semi-literate hosts can attack without a script. |

I would read her books just to see how fucked up this chick really is without the leash that television provides, but then I really don't want to throw a single penny at her.
Everytime I see her on Fox news talking with Sean Hannity, I get the impression that Mr. Hannity is going Manson-loco with desire and trickles a bit of the love juice in his trousers.

No I don't think she is a force to be reckoned with within conservative politics, but I live in a very conservative state and people I know and people I hear on talk radio are begining to spout more and more of her tripe as fact. People like her have brought this country further to the right than it has ever been. Do I have to remind people that Richard Nixon was for welfare programs and universal health care. Now, I am not sure even moderate Democrats are really for that.

The hollywood crowd certainly has every right to state their opinion just like Ann. And there's no comparison between the amount of press that the conservative hollywood crowd gets versus the liberal hollywood crowd (IMO, Heston can't really count since the press he gets is more associated with the NRA and is part of his "job" in that regard.) I do disagree that we are further to the right than we've ever been. All the Clintonites point to GWB's election as proving that he is not the popular choice, yet in the same breath they claim the American public is shifting so far to the right. It can't be both. And, I think we (speaking for all of America here ) were MUCH farther right during the Reagan years than we are now. |

i have a conservative friend who bought her bought "Slander", and we BOTH looked through and laughed at her, the first page basically said "everything that is wrong in the world or once was is due entirely to liberals." I jusdt cracked up. While i am angered at her ideas and at her, i don't think too much about it because, as some folks have said, she's so extremist, she's probably alienating just as many folks as she is endearing. I'll really worry if she ever gets elected to office.

The reason why I feel the nation is more conservative now than even during the Reagan years is that Reagan had a charisma that influenced a great number of people and brought over a large number of conservative Democrats to his causes. If you look at the current administration, it is made up of many Reagan alumni and is led by a much less charismatic individual and we still see a strong influence of conservative ideals spread widely across the nation(this could also partly stem from the success of FOX News and a huge increase in conservative talk radio). Hell, Dean is at best center-left and he is considered a total liberal by many in his own party. The Republican party and conservative ideals are running strong right now and the Democratic party is fraying at the seams(primarily because of a lack of solid Democratic leadership). My thoughts about Coulter are that if she is portrayed as a true thinker, it could be detrimental to the conservative movement.(Obviously, that would not really bother me.) If groups like FOX News continue to prop her up as the voice of conservatism I think she may eventually hurt the party she so viscerally defends. Just like many extreme, wacko liberals have hurt the Democratic party. I really don't think she is evil or even mean spirited. I think she is misguided. All in all, she is laughing all the way to the bank and what is more American than that.
