Honestly, I think my dad just got to the point where a raw sports car just wasn't what he was looking for anymore. He still says the 911 was the most fun car he's ever owned, but at the same time a car more compromising in terms of performance vs. luxury was what he was looking for. In that light, what's better than an SL55? The thing is just brutally fast (it would destroy the Porsche in straight line performance). Then you've got the heated/ventilated seats, the awesome sound system, the hard top convertible...and on and on. I think that's why the family has gone on the AMG tip.
However, while the SLR is indeed a rediculous machine, I'm pushing for him to jump into a Carerra GT. The SLR is brilliant, but really I can't help but think of it as an SL55 on steroids whereas the GT is a race car from concept to execution. Plus you could have a GT by the end of the summer as opposed to waiting until the end of 2006 for an SLR. Either way, you couldn't pry the keys to my 5 year old M3 from my cold, dead fingers. Well, you might be able to relax 'em if you dangled a set of GT keys infront of me. SLM3 |

Since you like the Duc... here are some more.
1997 was the first year Ducati introduced the 748, and only 200 of them were shipped to the US. It was the only year with the silver graphics set low on the sides. On the road today (compensating for wrecks, race bike conversions, etc.) there are only about 140 total in the US that look like mine. Almost as limited as the Neiman Marcus silver edition. Pretty cool. And a couple with my ex-girlfriend... I miss her |

This was my 79 Firebird as it looked about 3 years ago.
This pic of the wagon was from shortly after I swapped in its 3rd motor, just after I bought the car 3 years ago. A whoooole lot has changed since then, including a 12pt cage, completely new drivetrain (about to change again), welds all the way around, completely gutted with the exception of a single racing seat and a fiberglass dash. Oh yea, and the primer is now multi-colored. Anybody here looking to do some paint and body work free of charge if I pay for materials? I'll gladly put your logo on one of the lexan windows |

SmileyG3: Its a 400 Pontiac, .030, small dome, ported 6x heads, 230ish hydraulic cam, nothing really fancy, but a strong runner. With the 3.42 gears it'll light em up from a 35mph roll, and it just rips on the highway. When I get the cash, I'll be upgrading to small chamber Edelbrock heads, now that they're becoming easier to find on the used market.

Simple really, a 2004 Honda Civic LX. No mods as of yet, but I am still 12 grand in debt. This summer is going to see coilovers and performance shocks added, for a drop as close to 2 inches as I can get. 17" rims Id like to add this summer, but the money may not work out. ANd in a few years after its paid off, and Ive burned through the extended wartantee, I believe a K20 may make its way under the hood....
Anyone got an Acura RSX type S thats been T-boned? As long as the engine and engine compartment are good. |

The big unknown is cost of ownership. I know factory service will be more expensive but if nothing big breaks, if the car doesn't strand me somewhere, well that's what makes me trust a car and love it over periods of years. The jury is out on that one. Time will tell. |

Wow... it's clear there are a lot of beautifully maintained & cleanly modded cars here -- of all makes & years... very nice work...
I own a 97 Acura Integra LS. Second owner, with a tad over 100K. Mods are as follows- Chassis: TEIN SS Dampers/ 16" 5Zigen Fighters / Nitto NT555 tires Audio: Panasonic Headunit / Infinity Component Speakers / BassLink 10" 200W sub. Drivetrain is essentially stock...with the exception of a 2.5" 4340 stainless steel mandrel-bent exhaust fabricated by a local shop with Magnaflow resonator & universal muffler. It's a tad oversized for the short -term, but the forthcoming Greddy turbo kit will benefit from slightly oversized tubing... [It's just a matter of raising the funds now ] It doesn't look like TFP supports image attachments...darn. I'll get around to posting a pic or two in the near future.
