I have been collecting a lot of quality videos over the years via the internet and recently have thought about just trashing my collection. I feel like it's screwing with my head. All I want to do is want to have sex with girls instead of talking to them. I'm not a chronic masturbator. I only masturbate a few times a week. So what do you guys think? Is it a good or bad idea?

Sell them on eBay and make a few bucks for each. That's what I do with stuff I'm sick of or which ALMOST totally grosses me out.

For things that TOTALLY gross me out, I decide that the world would be better without them and I toss them with prejudice.

Yeah, I say sell them on e-bay, and take the money to do something that will help to get women- buy some spiffy new clothes, get a facial (and I don't mean the porn star kind), go see a play or a symphony and have an excuse to wear that old tux in the back of the closet- that kind of thing. By breaking out of any routine you're currently in (and everyone is currently in a routine, no matter who they are) you'll meet women you never knew existed, and probably find one who would be more than happy to watch porn with you!

If you think you've got a problem with porn, you probably do, and the only solution for that problem, is to go cold turkey... get rid of it.

selling it? eh - you didn't pay for it to begin with, so selling it isn't all that ethical, but that's just me...

if, when you look at women, you only see them as sex objects, you've got a problem... the amount you masturbate isn't really directly proportional to the amount of porn you have... your view of women comes from within you... not from your masturbation habits.

is too much porn the cause of that? if you think it is, it m ight be - go without porn for a while and see if your feelings towards women change.

Yeah porn can mess with your head - but dude most blokes only want to have sex and not talk, so you sound normal to me. However, if all you want to do is talk and not have sex, well then you have some issues. My thoughts are keep it, but don't use it until you have yourself sorted out, you can always throw it out later.

Yeah, well, that's a common problem in the teen years. As guys get into their 20s, more and more of them get past it. But if you aren't actually dating women, only having sorta-sex-on-demand with them, you are not going to get past it. You're conditioning yourself to stay a teenager.

I'm going to back either 1. Getting rid of it cold turkey, or 2. Saving it to disk and not viewing it for a long time, if you can do that. After not viewing it for a long time, you might find that when you watch it again it's not as enjoyable. I've found this with other things, although porn's not really my Achilles heel of the head. or, of course 3. giving it to Johnny and any other TFP'ers that want it

I personally would definately advise breaking a cycle, if you're in one, of sitting around for long hours watching porn, absorbing those images, and occasionally rubbing one out to it. I don't think doing anything day after day in a closed environment is the most healthiest thing you can do. Without asking for additional details, if you're not actually doing the "having sex" with the girls part, but more of the "watching other people have sex with the girls" part along with a side of "wanting to be having sex with girls," then I think you're setting yourself for depression due to the fact that you're constantly barraging yourself with desires and stimulus, without actually doing anything to realize your desires.

i deleted my stash a few months back, my rate of masterbation decreased a bit; mainly that I've been busy doing other activities.

Activity, including excercise, help you derive pleasure from more healthy sources, as well as the myraid of social, mental, and intellectual benefits it can lead.
Activities ? Anything from reading, excercising, working, creative work [writing/painting], travel, whatever else.

I recommend Volunteering as the best way to get out of any 'rut,' meeting tons of new people and you can network with them [on so many levels - business, platonic, or even more serious with a female volunteer

help benefit the world on a cause of your choice and help discover your passions and personal causes; and your level of commitment is all up to you - most organizations are usually very flexible with your time constraints....

Well, it's not that you should volunteer looking to hook up with women - instead, you should volunteer with the intention of meeting new people in general. While meeting new people, if you happen to meet a cute girl who you like, there's nothing wrong with that. But going out specifically to hook up with women will tend to be kind of obvious and make you look like a jackass.

Get rid of it. It sounds like you have a bigger problem with it than you are letting on if you have to come out in front of everyone to ask if you should get rid of it. If you are trying to start a relationship, it will only hinder its growth. Focus all of you desires on one person rather than fantasizing about the people you will never meet. Besides, who really wants to sleep with a porn star? It is meant for what it is, fantasy. If you want to keep some for a rainy day, that's up to you.

jeez people, he's not a crazy person who needs to go out and go nuts to overhaul his life, he just spends a little too much time in front of the computer. I think MOST of us are guilty of that. lol

Anyhow, I never keep anything for very long. I usually purge my collection about once a month or so, and then start over... there's so much out there, i pretty much never have to find the same things again.

But, the crux of the issue is... if you believe it's interfering with your livelihood, then absolutely get rid of it. Just go have some fun with some people, go do something you'd never normally do, see if it grows on you. Have fun!

Pigglet has an EXCELLENT point here. If this applies to you, then quit the porn, man. But if it's a healthy thing, then just delete the excess videos and keep a few good ones.

Only you know if it's really "screwing with your head." When you meet a woman, do you only think about fucking her? If you got into a relationship, would you have any problem getting rid of your excess porn or talking openly about your masturbation with your partner? I think that, beyond getting rid of your porn stash, you need to cut out of your life any access to that porn, ie. computer or internet. Not looking at porn is the easy part. Not giving yourself access to that porn is the extremely hard part. I know because I suspect that I too have a slight addiction to it. I can go for long periods of time not looking at it, but that generally coincides with my not being near a computer. As soon as I'm near the internet, it's hello porno.

So if it were possible, shut down, log out, and that would be true cold turkey!!!

Put it in a box and stick it in the closet. That way if you ever need it in the future it'll be there. Sure, you can always get new porn, but not all porn is equal. It can be frustrating searching the net for just the right Lesbian DP porn when you just want to jerk it and go to sleep.

Take it from someone who regrets throwing away his porn. I had a small collection recorded on video then threw it away when I made the change to DVD. Sure, there's plenty of DVD variety, and I've even got Spice Platinum on PPV, but every once in a while I remember the hotness that was the Girls of Sorority Row with Jill Kelly, and although I can always find something else to fill that void, sometimes it would be nice to be able to revisit it.
