Those will probably be the last bit of fat to hang onto your body. I don't think you can really zero in on an area when looking to burn fat. If you really really want to get rid of them, and you've lost all other fat, I'd recommend tightening up the diet to go along with your exercise.
If you haven't already, try figuring out your basal metabolic rate and (gag) counting calories to help you reach your goal. The last bit of fat is always a bitch...it hangs on the hardest. Good luck! |

[edit] I believe love handles are part of the "oblique" muscle region. Try this site for some helpful exercises:

best way is to get a good cardio regimen, either running, biking... that will burn your calories. lifting and ab exercise will burn some, but not much. they will strenghten your muscles. work your oblique muscles by holding weight on the side of your body parallel to your body in the upright position. then tilt from side to side. that should give you a good workout.

Diet and cardio are the way to go if you want to lose fat. As already stated, you cannot spot reduce, and doing ab workouts will only make them look better AFTER you lose the weight.

by doing lots of ab and oblique exercises, guess what you are doing? You are probably increasing the size of your abs and obliques, creating even more prominant "love handles" ...to get rid of fat on any part of your body, the best cure is RUN ...and if you dont like running, learn to like it, as it is pretty much the most time and money efficient, practical and easy way of burning calories. Dont just jog along either, run like you stole something.

Like they said, cardio. You cant spot reduce, dont try. Go run, swim, bike, whatever, but do cardio, and lots of it. Watch the diet too, its just as important.

Kill love handles by eating right. Exercise is less effective without proper diet (since it hasen't been addressed yet). Burn off more calories that you eat (if you take in 3000 cals a day, burn off 3200). Don't cut carbs, fats, or anything of the sort. If you're exercising, you'll need the energy. Good luck. |

Echo the above, spot trimming is a myth, it can't be done. Building the muscles will help in that greater muscle mass helps burn calories faster while you're doing cardio. Greater muscle mass also raises your resting metabolism, so don't quit muscle training. Eat a balanced diet, no low carb nonsense or any other "fad" diet. Above all though, persistance is key. Love handles don't appear overnight, they don't leave overnight either. Good luck!
