Slipped something?

I'm not quite sure how to put this and I did a several searches with no results on the terms I chose. Basically, I'm trying to figure out what the physical symptoms would be if one were "slipped a mickey", had something added to their drink. I've read all the medical stuff before, but I was trying to find someone with a personal experience because I'm still kinda freaked out. If this isn't the appropriate place for this, moderators, feel free to lock or move it.

Last night, a female friend and I went out to a cool mexican restaurant. We had a normal amount of dinner including chips, tortillas, meat, beans, etc. that should have balanced out the alcohol we drank. We got a pitcher of Cuervo margaritas and they were very, very strong. We added some orange juice to try and tone it down. The waiter kept coming over and smiling and asking how our drinks were. I had two glasses of water and literally one-and-a-half, red wine-sized glasses of margarita. My friend had maybe one full glass. Neither of us could figure out how we got so intoxicated. Now, I don't drink to excess very often and I don't typically get a hangover. Never, ever had a blackout or lost more than a conversation when drinking. My boyfriend said when he got home two hours after me, I was talking to him in a clear voice, but in "complete gibberish" and I was very oppositional. Which is not like me at all.

This morning, my entire body hurts. I cannot remember anything past about 12:30am, I still feel like I'm intoxicated 12 hours later. Just uncoordinated, nauseous and dizzy. This is completely new to me. I've loved margaritas and had plenty of tequila in my time, but never these symptoms. I called my friend and she said the waiter was really weird and kept sitting down next to her. She's got the same muscle soreness, memory issues, and has the same history with the aforementioned alcohol. My question is, at what point do you become suspicious of something added to your drink? How does it feel the next day? Knowing that nothing can be done now, I'd like to be able to recognize the symptoms that we were feeling last night and today to keep this from happening again. I'm trying to figure out if we're crazy, I guess, because I know that we did not have that much to drink. Period.

never experienced GHB myself, but erowid is a fantastic resource for information. This page describes effects of GHB at different strengths very well, and they are very similar to your own experience.

cant really tell you what its like to be slipped something in a drink or anything like that but i do highly suggest you talk to the local police about it. espeically if it was late at night not too long before they closed. If they were acting that way and slipped you something they might of been hoping you would pass out there and do who knows what to you. and from the way you said the waiter was acting he might of had some sick plans for you. Talk to the police tell them exactly what happened and how the guy was acting. They might be doing that to more people then just you and it would be a good idea to give the police something to watch for. never know they might have sex offenders working there and if thats the case and they are at it again who knows what they might do to the next girl that gets drugged and dosnt make it home. or even just trys to drive home thinking they only had one drink and slams into a tree or something because of it. no matter how you look at it dont go back to that restraunt. If you can find out the names of the people that were working there that night and search for them in the sex offendor registry. Guys dont exactly go around wasting money slipping something in someones drink without plans for them. at least not as far as i know.
Oh might want to stop by at a doctor and get a drug test just to see whats floating around in your system.

Wow, that sounds *really* creepy. I wonder if you can get a blood test or something...I would even encourage you to talk to the police. The waiter sounds Highly suspicious to me. Do NOT blow this off, who knows what else could be going on here? With both you and your friend having the same symptoms...it's not like you just had a bad reaction to something.
Please do take some kind of action.

jesus christ, I'm so freaked out for you! *HUGS*

Ew ew ew. That's the part that makes the whole thing seem really wrong. Would you both be able to identify that guy again? Did he try to follow you two out? Do you remember getting home?

even if it might be too late to do anything at this point, at least telling the police about it will raise their awareness of that restaurant. If they get a couple of complaints they'll start watching it more, and if nothing else, it could lend credibitility to someone else who makes makes a similar complaint and the cops write it off as someone who just drank too much.

You can't detect these things in your system past 24-72 hours. And 72 hours is really pushing it. I would complain to the police, management of the place, and never go back there again. That seems like all you can do at this point.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I contemplated calling the police, but there were a few issues that came up. Number one being that I got myself home. Which was a terrible idea, but my head seemed so clear on the inside... I just wanted to be home. It was a drive to be in my own place. Second, we were there for several hours. Granted we ate and spent an hour trying to clear our heads enough to make it out the front door. They would report us for drunk driving and cite how long we were there. We didn't realize that the restaurant had closed and no one asked us to leave. The manager was at a table with the rest of the employees and saw the whole thing. I spent 45 minutes and two bottles of water in the parking lot. It wouldn't be a big deal now, but the sherriff's department in the area is notorious for flagging people. And I just don't want to be repeatedly pulled over. I don't drive intoxicated. I'm a social worker. My friend and I are still feeling ill and our boyfriends are ready to kick some serious behind, but at this point, I'm just warning friends. It's embarrassing that we were caught unaware and that I didn't have enough impulse control to just crash on her couch. I drove the 20 miles back to mine. Which again... scares the crap out of me. It will be a LONG time before I go anywhere near mexican food, tequila or out with just the girls any more. Thanks again for the thoughts. Just be careful.

Can the cite after the fact?
I know you can't get a seat belt ticket, after an accident has happened.

You don't have to tell the police your name.

This is about preventing this from happening to some else, who might not get as lucky.

I think that this is why this sort of shit keeps happening to women. It happened to me last year and all I could think was how my behaviour would be scrutinized and not the guy who did it. So I didn't go to the police. My symptoms were different, I became delusional and really paranoid and I just couldn't drink enough water. My roommate took me to emerge and the doctor said she had been seeing way too much of this....and yet I've not seen one charge laid against anyone in this town for drugging someone's drinks.
The worse thing is I began to realize, finally, that I am not immune to being victimized.
Sometimes that is just too scary to contemplate.

I'm really sorry that happened to you and your friend but nothing you did was wrong.

Fredweena, lack of impulse control is what the drug *does* to you, it's not something to be embarrassed about, it's not a reflection on you!

Umm, may I gently point out that this instance has absolutely nothing to do with Mexican food, tequila, nor being out with the girls! It seems that you are blaming yourself for this, and girlfriend--someone DRUGGED you against your will and knowledge. Please don't let a misplaced sense of guilt keep you down!

*HUGS*

they wouldnt mark you as someone that drinks and drives if you tell them you only had one drink but think you were drugged. what if that same guy drugs someone else and does have his way with her. something you could of prevented just by calling the cops and making them aware of whats going on there. hell make call to the police and dont tell them who you are just make them aware of whats going on.
