The Matrix: Path of Neo
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/...xthepathofneo/
I am very excited about this coming out - not only do you get to play as Neo, you get to play him in all the greatest scenes of The Matrix. My only issue, I suppose, is the fact that it is coming out in current generation systems - in the 4th quarter of this year. The 360 will be out around that time, it's too bad they didn't wait for the next gens. On the plus side, they seem to have done very well with the graphics for the current gen systems... They are using the Enter the Matrix Engine, but modified it a bit to make things look prettier... (Edit: Alright, I'm lame - I can't seem to get a screenshot or three to show up. If anyone else would like to, you are welcome to add them)

I love all three Matrix movies. I hope they do good with this one even though I can't say I have high hopes. It seems like a game based on actual movie events would be worse than one that's not...but then again, GoldenEye is one of the best videogames ever.

OMG, MY MIND JUST EXPLOGASMED.
It's what like, everyone has been waiting for. I mean, it makes sense. With the Spiderman 2 Movie game, you didn't go around playing as a secondary character, you play as spiderman. They should've made this game instead of enter the matrix. But oh man oh man, I can't wait until this comes out. I hope you get to do all the training contruct dealies, like the jumping program, the dojo fight with Morpheus. That would be off the hook.

I don't know about the jump program, but you DO get to train with Morpheous in the Dojo.
If you follow the link, there is a portion where you hear Neo say "I know kung-fu" Followed by Morpheous responding "Show Me" It then shows a portion of a fight between Morpheous and Neo - in fact, the beginning of the sequence looks pretty much identical to the movie - very impressive indeed

Yeah, after I posted I looked at the link.
I don't know, it just looks like you do all the fights from the movies. Kinda boring if you ask me. Maybe some extra side missions, like in Spiderman 2 game.

There's a good article about it on IGN. The concept is that people were pissed of at ETM because you can't be Neo or do much of the cool stuff that he can do.

Personally, I like Enter the Matrix. I admit, there could be a couple things that could have been better, but overall, focus and stuff, the game is really fun.

I can't really get over how matrix-eske the game was in most respects - the music is unbelievable, and when you are running from the agents and kicking in doors - not to mention running across rooftops - it feels like you are practically living in the game...

Spoiler: the wachowskis have said unofficially that neo didn't die at the end of Revolutions.....unofficially. they said they haven't decided how they will show this in the future, but they said him being completely dead is pretty much not true.
if I can find a link I'll post it, I can't remember where I saw it.....

Yeah, and Spoiler: The machines haven't returned neo's remains, even though they've confirmed that they haven't recycled his body. Morpheus was very persistant in trying to retrieve/have the machines return Neo's body.

Considering this is the dream of most Matrix fans, I really hope they make this grand. If they fuck this up I'm gonna be pissed. I mean, look at the success of the movies, but you can't manage to make a great ass game on the third try? that would really suck. *crosses fingers*

Yes, I have to admit that I am really interested in this game, even though the shear HORROR of Enter The Matrix. I played that game and was severly pissed off to the fact the game was buggy and it just didn't flow right. I am always intersested in the additional storyline the brothers put in the game so I think I will have to pick this up.
Peace, V.

Well, I've spent the last... oh... say...
Six Hours playing this game... Here's my opinion. Very, very, very disappointing. The graphics are not very good - at all. Additionally there are a ridiculous amount of glitches in the game - Neo "talking on the phone" - except, there's no phone in his hand, and unbelieveable amount of clipping though clothing, the shooting system is relative crap, and the hand-to-hand combat is very below par. Granted, it's been awhile, but if I remember correctly "Enter the Matrix" hand to hand was waaaay better. I am so very disappointed - if it didn't involve The Matrix, I probably would have quit long ago. Granted, some parts are still entertaining, but it is way below even standard games of today. As far as the story goes, it is very... loosely... based on the movies, which I found very odd. The editing of the movie sequences leaves something to be desired. Many, if not most, of the key scenes have been changed to enable more of a playable aspect of it. Unfortunately, most of them are retarded. For instance, Spoiler: In the park fight, where you fight all the Smiths, you have to punch the surrounding buildings to get them to collapse so that more Smiths don't come. At the end, instead of exiting via flying out of a giant pile of Smiths, they just seem to diasappear once the buildings are knocked down. Other aspects of the game are just completely ridiculously stupid. I kid you not, at one point you fight Spoiler: ANT PEOPLE. Yeah, giant red ants that you have to beat down with a big candle. Ridiculous. Anyway, I'm just at the point where I left the Merovingian's Chateau, and so there shouldn't be too too much game left. Fortunately, there hasn't been any portion of the game that has taken place outside the Matrix as of yet, nor any driving - both poorly done when it seems that they put some time into the game. I'll update you as I progress, I imagine I'll finish it in the next coupld of days... Overally, I'd give it a 4.5 out of 10 - and 4 of those points are given simply because it is based on The Matrix... More glitches that occur far to often - The camera is terrible, half the time you are looking at a wall up close and personal and mashing on buttons. Often, when you die and restart the level, the sound is completely messed up. No Music, no gunshots, no anything except the sound of punches - except the sound is played with a 1-3 second delay. Theweapons you can use are extraordinarily limited, which isn't that big of a deal, I suppose, but kinda irks me. Regular pistols, "Heavy pistol" (aka the agents weapon, presumably .50 cal) Submachine guns, Assault Rifle, and Grenade launcher. There isn't even a reload key. For the melee weapons, you can choose between a couple of swords, a couple of short weapons (a hatchet and a small scythe looking thing that I'm sure probably does have a proper name, but I can't be bothered to look it up) and a couple of staffs. The problem lies in the fact that the melee weapons are very, very rare - except in the chateau level.

Oh so it's already out?
I should rent it. I did notice how crappy the graphics looked from the commercials. UGH, I think Enter the Matrix had better graphics. Oh and Spoiler: ANT PEOPLE? What the hell? I mean, I'd like to fight ant people, but how does that even fit into the story?

Wow... Just.... Wow.
Alright, so I finished the game after about another hour of playing it, so total playtime is approximately sevenish hours. So, I have some good news and bad news... The good news is, at the very end of the game - and only the end of the game, they actually have CG cut scenes instead of just using the not-so-great quality models. The CG is fantastic - it looks spectacular. The bad news, however, involves what it is CGing... *The following spoiler will contain what happens in the end of the game. If you prefer not to know, don't read it. If, however, you don't want to know because you think it may actually relate to anything in The Matrix, read on - because it doesn't. Spoiler: Alright, so right after the big fight with Agent Smith in the rain (including the aerial battle) it cuts to the white room with the leather chairs in it. Two old school atari-eske figures walk up and sit down. They explain that although the ending of the movie was great, being Jesus in a video game isn't all that fun. So, they changed the ending. You now get to fight a super-ultra Agent Smith bot. *cut to CG* All the Smiths collect rubble and trash left from the fight, and create an enourmous Smith Bot. Think Power Rangers.... To beat him, it's ridiculously simple - dodge to the left every 5 seconds or so, when he attempts to hit you (which is conviently announces by the super-ultra Agent Smith Bot yelling) and press A to charge it when the A button appears on the bottom of the screen. It gets worse... When you do beat him, it cuts to portions of the movie where they say that the war is over. Guess what song begins to play? A hint - the cheesiest, worst song you could possibly choose for the final scene in The Matrix. That's right, Queens "We are the Champions" begins blaring. Un-fucking-believable. Indeed, they certainly are the champions of fucking up what could have been a great game. I'm curious if anyone else has played this, and what their opinion is. I'm revising my current rating of 4.5-10 to 1.5/10. I originally gave points because it was based on The Matrix, but as you can see from the spoiler, that isn't necessarily the case. Anyway, I would highly recommend you do not purchase it - rent it, maybe, but rent it knowing that you are in for a game that is laughably terrible - you'd be paying for the humor factor only, that's about all...

Oh my fucking god.
It really sounds like they set out to make a good game, but then got really baked and were all like: "fuck it, let's just get this shit done for XMAS. Hell, Thanksgiving!". It still sounds pretty campy, which is good enough for me.

I was afraid something like this would happen. I trust Shiny about as far as I can throw a tank lately.
Enter the Matrix could have used some work, but it was playable, and the movie scenes were cool. This just sounds... horrific.

I played it for a few minutes on an X-Box yesterday. I shows some promise. I think a lot of moves are unlock from the begining that the tutorial doesn't mention. I was fighting that one guy at the end of the kung fu tournament (combat training), and did this cool combo that ended with my victim flying through the air, grabing him by the legs, and whiping him down on to the pavement. The montages look cool.
Shiny has made some awesome games in the past, such as Sacrifice and Earthworm Jim. Hopefully, their talent will show with this title.

Okay, my personal opinion is this: gameplay-wise, it's not bad. The firearms combat is kinda wonky, but with the number of hand-to-hand stuff you can do you probably won't be shooting much anyway. The levels taken from the movies are mostly good, the ones they made up range from nifty to super-uber-rediculously-DUMB.
The ending...sucks. There is NO other way to put it. If you get the game, do yourself a favor and DON'T beat it. Finish the final smith fight, and quit. It'll be more fullfilling, trust me. My theory is that the Wachowskies didn't actually write the first Matrix movie. There was a lawsuit a while back that no one payed any attention to where someone claimed they stole the screenplay from him. I'm starting to believe it now, though. Consider this; the first movie was great. Amazing. A marvel of technology and psychology all rolled into one. The second...eh. Not quite crap, but nowhere near as good as the first. The third was just awful. The games have been sub-par, at best. For gameplay, they're not too bad, but the story is just not there. And after watching the final sequence (which I wish I could burn out of my brain), I have to assume that the Wachowskies both stole the original screenplay, and are complete fucking morons. Okay, I'm done now.
