Okay, my personal opinion is this: gameplay-wise, it's not bad. The firearms combat is kinda wonky, but with the number of hand-to-hand stuff you can do you probably won't be shooting much anyway. The levels taken from the movies are mostly good, the ones they made up range from nifty to super-uber-rediculously-DUMB.
The ending...sucks. There is NO other way to put it. If you get the game, do yourself a favor and DON'T beat it. Finish the final smith fight, and quit. It'll be more fullfilling, trust me.
My theory is that the Wachowskies didn't actually write the first Matrix movie. There was a lawsuit a while back that no one payed any attention to where someone claimed they stole the screenplay from him. I'm starting to believe it now, though. Consider this; the first movie was great. Amazing. A marvel of technology and psychology all rolled into one. The second...eh. Not quite crap, but nowhere near as good as the first. The third was just awful.
The games have been sub-par, at best. For gameplay, they're not too bad, but the story is just not there. And after watching the final sequence (which I wish I could burn out of my brain), I have to assume that the Wachowskies both stole the original screenplay, and are complete fucking morons.
