So what's the story? Anyone wanna make me want this game and explain the plot a little..BTW, I'm new the the whole RE series (yeah, seriously).
Why are these people like that? Or is that too much of a spoiler?..

Arright, bear with me. There was this company, Umbrella. They messed with genetics and stuff, creating a nasty piece of work, the T Virus, in their quest to make the ultimate killing machine, the Tyrant. However, it turned people into zombies. Raccoon City was where the outbreak happened, and it all turned to shit so the US Government nuked the place. Umbrella was broken up and nuetered. The End.
RE4 follows a tangent from the previous titles, featuring a couple of old characters in a new setting. Leon, being a kickarse special forces guy, is sent to save the President's daughter, who's been taken to somewhere in Europe. As for the villiagers, it's not the T-Virus that makes them want to eat your delicious braiiinnnnsss...

Why does Leon remind me of Raiden from the MGS series?

Gameplay not too repetitive? Both videos i saw were Leon shooting at villagers all the time, hiding in houses until they busted in?
Are there any scary scary moments, with tension building up until dun dun dun the huge monster comes out of that black hole in the corner with a chainsaw?

Ugh.. this is the sole reason Ive ever wanted a gamecube. I hear people talking about how its going to get ported to ps2 but even when it does, its not even going to be a 1/4th as good as the gc version.. damn... if only gc had a stronger lineup right off the bat I would have bought it - the games seem to be getting better and better.

Why will the ps2 version be not as good as the Game^3 version?

With that said, the PS2 version will no doubtly still hold its ground, and will have a few extra feature or something to encourage your purchase (like Viewtiful Joe got when it was ported to PS2)

Ruse, get one now =) Fifty bucks US, if you get one second-hand, even in good condition.
As for the PS2 port, with a game this pumped to the 'Cubes specifics, it's going to require a nigh-complete rewrite of the game's code. Plus it's coming a year later, and even with Capcom's attempt to undermine Cube sales, it won't have much of an effect.

I bought this game when it came out, but I haven't had a chance to play it until tonight. The only way to describe this game is: Holy shit! It is absolutely incredible, graphically, gameplay, control (although takes getting use to) and I'm only 1 hour in and loving the plot. I reccommend it to anyone who owns a gamecube.....and for those that don't, buy one. You can get it used for 70 bucks.

It's a different sort of scariness than you may have experienced in previous RE games, biznatch. They don't rely so much on the dogs jumping through windows and the lickers falling off the roof. As it's been said, the fear is more that you will be unprepared for the coming challenges. The game is very devious with its placing of the difficult fights within the usual chain of fights with one or two weak enemies, so you've always got to have enough health and ammo to carry yourself through a boss to be comfortable.
Insta-fail and even insta-death are not entirely uncommon either, even on normal mode. If the chainsaw zombie gets to you, there isn't any fooling around with the life meter...it lops your head off and you're done. I don't think the game is as scary as its predecessors but it's definately more exciting.

Good to hear Once you finish it, you can work your way through both Metroid Primes, Tales of Symphonia, Zelda: TWW, Smash Bros, Resident Evil Remake and Zero, F-Zero....
The list goes on

best game ever. Blows half-life 2 way out of the water. It seriously has the best graphics that I can remember of any game ever. Its fun as hell too. My roommate and like 5 of my friends come over to my house bugging me if they could watch me play the game and I only started it yesterday.
The chainsaw guy cutting your head off is awesomely graphic too. I am currently stuck on Spoiler: El Gigante I cannot say enough great things about this game. 10/10 *edit* naw fuck it....11/10

And nearly all of the lowest scores are from sites that don't do more than 4.5 out of 5 unless it's perfect. Not one under 90%, that's freaking awesome.

I'm pretty far into the game now and I'm still impressed. The Difficulty of the game is set perfectly. Crosshairs would make it a little easier but that really doesnt matter when the shotgun is your weapon of choice. Save your pistol for the last mob standing
YaWhateva to get passed that...Spoiler: shoot him until he bends over and the virus comes out of his back, run behind him and it'll let you climb up his back and rapidly tap the button to slice him up. You only need to do it twice.

thanks cybermike, but I already got passed that by Spoiler: shooting him till he bent over then laying into the virus with my guns from behind him. It took a lot longer that way though

Can someone help me out here? This better not be a glitch
Spoiler: I've already got Ashley and I am at the farm. You know when you first enter the farm and you tell her to hide in the dumpster? Well, I told her to hide, I killed all the enemies, and now when I go back to get her, I can't open the dumpster or anything. The action button doesn't even show up. Any clues? |

I'm looking at getting this game, but like all Survival Horror games, I get too scared to actually play the game. I've left a trail of uncompleted games in my wake that for the sole reason that they scare me. RE 0, RE 1, Silent Hill 2... The only one I think I finished was Eternal Darkness and that's only because I didn't feel completely helpless with a sword in my hand.
So, if I pick up RE4, is it going to scare me in the vein of the previous games, or scare me in some other completely new way? |
