Yellowknife,NT was really behind on this!!! I went in May 15th/05 and asked them for a large, one sugar with the roll up the rim. They said it was over. Grrr....
When was this over with? I guess I should of went else where in canada for a cup. Oh well, back at home (Fort Smith,NT) With no Timmies in sight!! I'll just have to dream about Honey Cruellers for now. |

out of maybe 12 or 14 cups i've got 1 coffee and 1 donut.
I drink 2 timmies a day, and on saturday mornigns on the way to boyscouts and girlguides we get hot chocolates for the kids, so thats 16 potential rims per week. I've never won a good prize yet, but usually end up with a 6 - 10 or so small wins over that period. I've always wondered what the big prizes say, does it say TV, or CAR? or is there a pictue and verification number like previously suggested.

I average 3 or 4 a week, my wife hits 5 or 6. For the last two weeks, we have been 0 for 17. Not even a muffin or a another coffee. This is a disturbing trend, as we went through all of last years rrrrolling time without a single prize.

There was a story on Q107 the other day that fills my heart with sadness.
Apparently an 8 year old kid picked up a tims cup out of the trash at some school in Quebec. The 8 year old couldn't manage to roll up the rim, so she asked a 10 year old to help her. The 10 year old rolls up the rim to see the SUV prize. So, the 8 year old (not being a dumb 8 year old) figures she's won the prize. But the parents of the 10 year old are claiming that he is the rightful owner. Sigh. But it gets worse..... The teacher who threw the cup in the garbage is now claiming that the SUV is rightfully hers. Now, Judge JTK says: The SUV belongs to the 8 year old. The parents of said 8 year old should throw the 10 year old 10% of what the SUV is worth out of common courtesy. The teacher gets nothing because she threw the cup away. So F you buddy. |

I heard this story too. I'm glad the youngest one gets it.
I am having a terrible RUTRTW season this year. I'm 1 for 20 I think. Just awful. Terrible. Makes my heart sad. The only thing that makes my heart sadder is Ken Klee for Luke Richardson, but that's for another thread.

I think I do pass one, but it's kind of hard to get the streetcar to stop so I can get off and get one while they wait.
There isn't one on my way to the streetcar from my house and there isn't one on the way from one of the three stops I can get off to go to work. The closest that I am aware of is at King and John and given the plethora of coffee available closer to work, I'm not walking the extra distance.

We had a similar promo in the UK from McDonalds a few years ago.
As for Tim Hortons outside Canada, we have a few in the UK and Ireland apparently (http://www.knipe.org.uk/blogs/carla/...to_the_uk.html)

But, maybe because I grew up in Hamilton (the birthplace of Tim Hortons by the Way, Store No. 1 is on Ottawa Street and Ron Joyce was a cop in the Hammer at one time). It seems like there are tim hortons on every major intersection in Hamilton. On Upper James, I think there are four within about a 5 mile stretch of each other. (I never really count the ones in gas stations though, and I never buy stuff at them because I always consider them Faux Tim Hortons.) Where I live - Bloor West Village, there are no Tim Hortons. There's a mini one on Dundas just west of Jane, but they are usually sold out of everything. And the one on Jane and Enterprise, is almost Eglinton and, well, Tim Hortons can vary quite a bit, and it's one of the worse ones. (Renforth, just south of Eglinton is one of the better ones for example.) There are none in Parkdale that I can think of either. None in the High Park Area. None in the Roncessvailles area. There's all of one on the Queensway, if the Queensway was in Hamilton, there would be 5 or 6 along its length. No, Toronto definitely needs more Tim Hortons (and good ones, not those crappy mini ones in Gas Stations.) |

http://www.timhortons.com/en/news/ne...ive_1999b.html BTW, Tim Hortons shares are going to IPO in the near future. Could be a buy, however, unless they catch on in the states (doubtful), where is the growth going to be? |

It's funny, I remember reading a news item that was all about Tim's finally cracking the Toronto core. It went on about the two closest Tim's (there is on street level at Colege and Yonge and one right below at the entrance to the Subway).
I can remember, not too long ago, when it was very hard to find a Tim's down here (by the way, Yonge and Finch is hardly down town -- I lived at both Yonge and Finch and Yonge and Sheppard... I know ). If you look at the map, Parkdale, Queen West, Bloor West, King West (there is one in the gas station at Stachan and King), Dundas West, Little Italy, etc. do not have Tim's. The closest to me, at my office at Richmond and Spadina, is Front and Peter, Spadina and Nassau or King and John. But by the time I actually walked to those locations, I would have to pass a large number of other places that offer superior product. By the way, there is something screwy about the store locator. I widened the search to 10K around Toronto... It shows two locations at Dundas and West (stores 68 and 69). I can safely say that there are no Tim's there as I drive through that residential neighbourhood everyday.

Not all rims rrroll up equally Last Updated Wed, 15 Mar 2006 14:09:06 EST CBC News The odds of winning a big prize when you roll up the rim on a cup of Tim Hortons coffee depend on where you live, CBC News Online has learned. Canada's biggest fast-food chain is running its annual spring promotion that offers customers a chance to win prizes ranging from a cup of coffee to a $33,000 sport utility vehicle. The Roll Up the Rim contest offers customers a chance to win prizes ranging from a cup of coffee to a sport utility vehicle. (CBC Photo: Cheryl Krawchuk) Albertans and Atlantic Canadians have nearly twice the opportunity of driving off in one of the 30 SUVs as people in Toronto or southwestern Ontario. If you live in Quebec, where Tim Hortons is battling for market share with rival Dunkin' Donuts, your chances are even better – a one in four million shot at the SUV, versus one in eight million for B.C. and one in 11 million for southern Ontario. The same is true to a lesser extent for the three other big rewards: 100 plasma televisions, 500 cash prizes of $1,000 and 10,000 barbecues. A spokesman at the company's headquarters in Oakville, Ont., was initially unaware of the prize distribution breakdown and had to check with corporate lawyers before confirming that the odds have been skewed for at least the past couple of years. "There are only 30 cars," Greg Skinner said. "If it was all equalized, some places like P.E.I. or New Brunswick might not get one at all. This is just about trying to create some excitement." The overall odds advertised by the company of winning one of the SUVs is one in 8,296,300. While a longshot, the chances are at least better than those of picking up the Lotto 6/49 jackpot, which are roughly one in 14 million.

The Store Locator shows stores located at Dundas East and West Ave... These stores are actually located at Dundas West and The West Mall.
It's amusing. As for Finch and Yonge being in Toronto... I wasn't clear with what I was saying. I was attempting to tie it to my point about the core being the last hold out for Tim's. I agree, they have been expanding like crazy all over Toronto. The closest to my house is at Logan and Danforth (it used to be a Tim and Wendy's combo but they just closed the Wendy's). I am surprised they aren't in Parkdale... Liberty Village could really use a Tim's. You are right about the traffic. The other two Tim's close to me are all about the car. The one at Carlaw and Lakeshore (in a new gas station) and the one at Leslie and Lakeshore are not especially pedestrian friendly.
