My biggest pet peeve with Timmies... The cups. They're horrible and always spill and leak. Also, I'm getting mighty annoyed with my lack of winning. Averaging a cup a day and still no prize

I would guess that the variation in coffee flavour would have to do with the following
- The water - The quality and taste of the water is not controlled by Tim Hortons - The amount of time a pot is left on the burner - coffee is supposed to be poured out after a certain time yet if the employees don't do it the coffee could start getting a burnt flavour. Also note, scott_p_1, that this would be congruent with your bad service in some locations.

I finally won a donut! You're all jealous.
I was also talking with my girlfriend, and she heard (probably just a rumour) that the winning cups are all marked. So when we looked at our cups (my donut winner, and her loser), we noticed that there was a difference in the colouring of the front driver side wheel in the SUV. My wheel looked like it was coloured properly, whereas hers had a white space on it. It looked to me like the colouring machine was just off a tad and left a small piece uncoloured. Anybody else want to look me look into the Tim Hortons conspiracy theory?

What would be the purpose of marking them?
I have a question though. In the rest of Canada, outside of quebec, are the cups printed in French and English. I don't remember. What I am asking is, is the winning or losing message bilingual or is it only in English?

Yeah, I assumed it wasn't true until we noticed a difference between my winning cup and her loser. But, after a couple more losing cups, it's been debunked. No marked cups.
Also, everything it bilingual (as far as I know)

I'm pretty sure that they are english only, at least here in Alberta. I haven't unrolled very far, but right where the arrow points, it is all english.
Two or three a week since the rolling of the rim started. 0 wins so far. A mind boggling figure occured to me as I stared at a cup. Odds are 1 in 9 to win. 25 million prizes. That means 225,000,000 cups of coffee during this promotion. That is quite a few pots. |

Well, they would print the winners in a random method. Then all the winners from Alberta, parts of Ontario, and sometimes BC have to give thier winning cups to the rest of the country, mostly to the east coast and a disproportionatly large amount going to Quebec. Those winning cups are then reprinted to be bilingual and sold accordingly. Or I don't really know. |

Another loser today.
I tried a larger size today based on the following question that entered my mind. Do you think that the proportion of winning cups is different by size? - A larger size means a higer sales value for Tims - A smaller size means more margin on the sale (although the actual cost of the coffee in a cup is probably negligeable so the difference in margin may be so minute).

Some funnies for y'all:
Hmm, and I have another funny one here, but can't find the pic online. It's a blowjob winner! edit: Here it is. Btw, I've only won a donut, which I can't bring myself to redeem and eat. Yucky things, those. Last edited by kulrblind; 03-30-2005 at 10:53 AM.. |

OK... Here is a "DIRE WARNING" for all of you Hortons Fans.
The other day I won Coffee and a Donut in two separate "rolls" of the rim. I tore off the top of the cups and placed them in my pocket. When I discovered them again they had been laundered... I was emptying the dryer. The portion of the winning rims that tell you what you have won is WATER SOLUABLE. NOW I AM OUT A COFFEE AND A DONUT! WAAAAAAHHHH! It's a good thing that wasn't one of the Big prizes. Have a great day !

Does anybody know the verification process that the big winners go through? It can't be just as simple as showing them a torn off rim saying "Won Envoy". Is there a verification number there too? Do you have to keep the whole cup?

I lose again.
Take a look at this: http://timhortons.com/en/pdfs/2005ContestRules_en.pdf This is a PDF of the contest rules. I has the total Roll Up the Rim cup distribution by region as well as the prizes (and therefore chances of winning - for the big prizes) by region. SHOCKING!
